    Petsmart - Saugus
They do a fine job and my dog has been on their wellness plan for approximately 5 years and they are always good about contacting me to advise when he's due for his shots. I would recommend them to others.

    PORTER SQUARE VETERINARIAN
We've used Porter Square Vets (actually located in Davis Square) for 4 years now, and I'm surprised to see I haven't written a review yet. They do consistently excellent work with both our cats, both for routine check ups and for illnesses.

For example: for the annual check-up today, my cat was crankier than usual, and prone to biting. The vet and his assistant handled him wonderfully, holding him firmly enough to keep everyone safe, but not so firmly as to raise his stress level much. And, in my conversation with the vet, he not only showed how well he knows my cat's medical history, but also was careful to get my take on the cat before simply announcing his own conclusions. It was a reassuring and helpful visit.

    PORTER SQUARE VETERINARIAN
We've used Porter Square Vet for 4 years now, and they do consistently excellent work. They know our cats well, remember their foibles/quirks/charms, and give them thoughtful treatment. One quick example: one of our cats had a bad reaction to a vaccination 5 years ago--well before we used PSV. Our doctor not only remembered this detail--even though the cat has had several vaccinations without problem since then--but also had a simple and effective solution. I recommend them highly.
BTW: they're in DAVIS Square, not Porter Square...

    PORTER SQUARE VETERINARIAN
He recommended a food change to a type of food for cats with this type of disease. I like that the vet is a cat person. It's really nice to have a vet who has 4 cats himself and LOVES cats. He even volunteers in Africa to take care of the big cats.

That went very well. They're excellent. All the people are obviously fond with animals, obviously cheerful. Generally, they give you a list of options to give you an idea of much the procedure would cost and whether or not it's necessary, how recommended it is versus if you don't do it what consequences there might be. It's nice.

    STINKY'S KITTENS & DOGGIES TOO
We used Stinky's for pet sitting a few times to care for our two cats and were very  happy with their service. However, things turned tragic when one of our cats died the last time we used them and we discovered that Stinky's, specifically the owner, Jo-Ann, might be the one responsible.
Shortly before we used their service for the last time, one of our cats developed diabetes. We contacted Jo-Ann, the owner, to see whether they had someone who could take our cat's blood sugar readings and administer insulin so we could keep using her service during our next vacation. Jo-Ann represented that she was qualified to take readings and give insulin injections. Several days before we left for our trip, she came to our house, and we showed her how to take the readings and how and when to give our cat the shots. On the second day of our trip, the terrible call came from her that our cat was close to death. She rushed him to the hospital and waited there until we told her that our cat would have to stay the night. The vet on call told us that our cat's blood sugar readings were extremely low, and that he appeared to be suffering from an insulin overdose. Chances of recovery were very low, and we had to have him put down.
We returned to Boston in grief but were grateful to Jo-Ann for her efforts to save him. Then, while going through the diabetes equipment to find the blood sugar readings she had taken while we were away--the equipment records every reading it makes--we found no readings on the equipment from the time of our vacation. As far as we could tell, Jo-Ann had not taken our cat's blood sugar readings before giving him insulin. Such negligence could easily have resulted in an insulin overdose like the one our cat suffered. We contacted Jo-Ann several times to clarify the absence of readings and to give us the readings she had allegedly taken. She responded that the readings were "both 120." She then stopped responding to our (repeated) requests for clarification. We are left with no choice but to believe that she caused our cat's death by injecting him without checking his blood sugar first, lied about it to us, and then refused to answer our questions or provide an explanation for what had happened.
We absolutely cannot recommend leaving your cat in her care.

    Brenda's Pets
Brenda was recommended to us by our vet. When we travel, we need someone to come over every day and feed and water the cats, spend some time with them, and scoop the litter box. (We take the dogs with us when we travel.) When Brenda came over to meet the cats for the first time, Mr. Fuzzy walked up to her, sniffed her toes, and started purring. Mr. Fuzzy hates everyone except my husband, so we knew Brenda would be excellent, and she is. I work at home, but occasionally I have to travel or otherwise be away from home during the day, and on those days, Brenda comes over and walks the dogs and gives them a snack. They don't like to go for walks with anyone but me, but they like Brenda and will go for a walk with her. I know I can trust Brenda with my little ones.

    Happy Tails Pet Services
Play group - We love Mike and most importantly so does our temperamental dog. They arrive by 9 and drop our dog at 2 which means we come home to a tired and happy dog. They are easy to get a hold of if we need to change our weekly schedule which is awesome. You can't beat the price!
Boarding - They pick up and drop off our dog for boarding which is super convenient for us. Our dog always comes back happy! We cannot complain at all.

    PORTER SQUARE VETERINARIAN
I have been going there for several years.  If I do comparison shopping, then I might find cheaper vets; but I don't feel like I am paying premium price for pet care that I care about.  They would never tell that this treatment would cost so much rather they would tell the problem, tell the cost and give alternatives.  My cat's heart murmurs, so I am saving for an ultrasound thing in his heart to figure out if it is something that can be medicated or not.  They are not the kind that will try to up sell me to make more money.

    FRESH POND ANIMAL HOSPITAL
My cat was giving me a one eyed wink, which I thought was cute at first, but then realized was due to the fact that she was in pain.  Fresh Pond was able to give me an appointment to have it looked at that day.  The vet who looked at my cat was very good with her, even when she escaped from the exam room and had to be chased down the hall.  She did a good job describing to me what I needed to do to treat the cat, and even showed me the first time.
