    John Crichton Plastering
He was excellent in communicating and did a fine job with the removal and replastering the stucco. It matched the remaining stucco better than I expected. It wasn't done exactly when I expected but he is very busy and the weather in New England was not cooperative during the period when the work was to be done, causing delays.

    Ben's Construction Inc
Benjamin's Roofing and Construction is a total gem!!! Benjamin and his crew were a dream to work with. We were working on a tight time schedule (the house had to be ready for a wedding) and they made it happen. In the final push to finish, there were 10 people working on our house to make sure it was finished. Benjamin is SO knowledgable and committed to doing the job right--no corners cut. It's clear he loves his work and takes great pride in what his does and having satisfied customers. I felt involved and informed every step of the way, and he was always open to questions. His crew is very pleasant and hard working, and the crew chief consulted me often. It was clear the crew also wanted me to be happy with every step of the process. Everything was cleaned up every evening. They also did little extras for me so that when my guests arrived, the house was 100% perfect! They really did go above and beyond for me. I can't imagine having as much work done and being SO incredibly pleased with the process and the result. I'm recommending him to all my neighbors. Anyone looking for quality home construction (and being taken care of in the process) should contact him. Very, very, very pleased!!!! PS: Benjamin takes care of his crew, and it shows in their dedication to him.

    A-Tec Chimney Sweep
James and David showed up on time. James had shown up a week previously to give me a quote. He did not check out the top of the chimney, only climbed a latter and looked at the chimney from about 20 feet away. On that quote it was noted that he would clean off the moss and stain on part of the chimney before apply sealer. David showed up grumpy and showed no respect for my new gutters when he laid a latter right on top of them. The bricks that were replaced were not the ones that I thought were bad but were convenient for him to reach.
When I spoke with Jon, the manager, he initially indicated that the cap was easily removable should I need at a later date a new chimney liner installed. After I paid I found ou that the Hip and Ridge model was not removable and I needed to break the crown to remove it. After James and David left I notice that I could see light coming through the Hip and Ridge Cap meaning that it was not water tight. I called James and he told me t it was not possible and refused to come out anc check it out.
They failed to apply the Chimney Saver Water Repellant to the entire chimney and left out the lower part of the chimney.
At my request James applied some caulking around the chimney.

    Sovereign Painting
Sovereign Painting patched, filled, plastered and painted two rooms plus hallways, entranceways, and foyer in my home. The rooms were very difficult and had not ben painted in 30 years. They included a high cathedral ceiling and walls that needed plastering and baseboard heating. They exceeded my expectations in every way and especially the quality of their work and their attention for small detail. They plastered holes, covered cracks with tape and used the latest technology for water stains. They followed best practices and did not cut corners. They delivered two needed coats while others only quoted one. They fixed, patched and painted railing that I did not think could be saved. They were extremely professional. I was so impressed that I asked then to return and paint the rest of the house. These are the real pro's and were very competitively priced. I would recommend them without reservation and hire them again in a second. If quality at a competitive price is important, this is who you want to use.

    Tom Curren Companies
We did not end up proceeding with the work, but that is OK and is part of the shopping experience.  I did want to leave a review though for those who are less thrifty than myself.
Tom Curren Companies is probably the pinnacle of professionalism and the particular individual who came out to do my assessment was fantastic.  I have received quotes and estimates from other companies so I have something to compare to.
Scott came out and did the first basic assessment,  asked me a ton of questions that I would never think of sharing with a potential contractor, collected measurements and then RETURNED later to walk me through the full details.  Yes, he came over twice and this is living in the age where it is easier to get your leg amputated than to get a contractor to come over.   Mind you he came over and spent two hours with me knowing full well that they were outside my price range,  that takes some cojones and gets my respect.
I got a very good sense for why the price was as high as it is because everything was broken down in vivid detail, despite the fact that a job of such magnitude inevitably entails many unknowns.
I suspect that the nature of the business combined with a housing market that has lost whatever remaining sense it had and increased prices for raw materials results in a price tag that is simply not attainable for most folks.  This should not be a reflection of the company and for someone who has dealt with their share of frustrating contractors, the old adage of "you get what you pay for" has never been truer than in this industry.
So if you recently robbed a bank or hit the lottery and have a hankering to remodel a large swath of area, call these guys!

    Souza Painting Co
Souza Painting Co. did a superb job.  Marcio, who is the owner of the company, came and did an exceptionally thorough inspection of the house noting the wood repairs which were needed before proceeding with painting.  He presented an itemized and fair quote for the repairs and painting and answered our many questions.
.Marcio and his team were hard-working, professional and conscientious.  Marcio worked along with his team and took the time to make sure every detail was addressed which created a beautiful result.  We are beyond pleased with every aspect of the job.  Marcio cares about the concerns of the homeowner and was willing to listen and take the time to ensure a favorable outcome.  They were meticulous, quiet and competent with an admirable work ethic.
I highly recommend Marcio and his team.  It was a pleasure to work with them.

    Home Care Services
Amiable two brothers. at first.   Owner worked in cellar and stated he was a mold expert and could do what was needed for an additional fee. Other brother painted two short walls and 2 half walls, plus window frames.  Walls were ok.  Windows painted shut and excess paint on glass left for me to do.  Came another day to do one large exterior wall and patch stucco.  That was done well.  BUT, afterwards I found that a weather cap on outdoor faucet was broken off.    WHen they atttempted to replace some up/down window shades on painted interior windows, one was put back , while the other was broken.  Had to replace both so they would match.
He refused to give me receipts for the materials he purchased to do the job.  I needed a copy to add to my home repairs list as am selling my house.  Never got them.  He gave me a bill and did not indicate or acknowledge that he was already paid the $100 from the Angie list offer.     The shades lost were $125 each and I had to replace them with $50 ones as had no time to reorder the up/down ones.    The exterior paint job did not involve shielding the door sills from spilled paint, so that clean up awaits me.
I later found he had taken a half filled bag of trash into cellar to put his painting trash in.  He then left it outside without taking it to the bins and animals scattered other trash everywhere.  He left two moldy cartons there as well instead of taking them to the barrels and did not clean up a messy garage where he left the remnants of painting for me to clear up.
I have no idea what I paid for the materials as he would not itemize, so maybe they are being used on another job.  I felt he was doing things under the table to my detriment.  I would advise to get any additional work suggested in writing with a proper proposal which I was at fault for not insisting on; he kept adding suggestions with scattered pricing and do believe he felt I was 76 so could be addled and I paid him less than what he finally decided was fair and more than he should have been paid,  The work done on exterior wall was done well but I still have to replace the broken faucet so that will involve more money for me to pay out due to his sloppiness.     He did ask me to remove my comments to you but I feel others will be fleeced so will make this one.

    Wigmore Painting
We were very fortunate to have another contractor who was doing some brick- and stone-work for us recommend Dale and Wigmore Painting to paint the outside of our house this summer.  We had a problem cedar clapboard exterior that was originally stained when the house was built about 45 years ago and then had been painted twice in the years since.  Unfortunately the paint just wouldn?t stick consistently; it would pop off back to the original clapboard over large sections.

Dale gave us a phone call the day he was first contacted and arranged to come by our house to see the problem and give us an estimate.  He looked the situation over and explained that the clapboard had not been properly prepared before the first painting 20 years before.  He explained what he would need to do to fix the situation and also went over some missing and rotten wood that would need to be replaced as part of the job.  Dale has a carpenter on staff ? a great benefit and savings for these kinds of situations.  We wanted our house painted in the same colors as before, but were unsure what they actually were ? no problem, Dale said he would figure it out, and he did.  Within a couple of days of meeting, Dale provided us with a written estimate and not too long after scheduled the start of the project.  From the time it started, his employees were here every week day to get the job done on

I knew that the previous paint jobs on the house had not been the best, but I was totally unprepared for the care that Dale and his team put into scraping and preparing our clapboards before repainting them.  Everything was done just right, including trim and gutters.  They even power-washed our decks.

Dale and Wigmore Painting delivered a great job on time and on budget.  They truly exceeded our
expectations.  Dale is friendly, enthusiastic and professional.  As far as I?m concerned, in the future no one except Dale and his team should touch the paint on our house, inside or out.

    Reliable Fence Boston
We first contacted Reliable Boston after receiving a coupon in the mail.
We were curious because the business is a little far from our area and
there is a "Reliable Fence" company located closer to us. We did come to
learn that these offices though once part of one business are now
completely independent. The quote from Reliable Boston was less than the
more local Reliable (maybe due to the coupon), which the "other Reliable"
would not honor. We also had a third quote that was very high.
The process was pretty good. Andrew came out to our house within a few
days of initial contact, gave us some options and provided a quote. He
was both patient and helpful during the back and forth in getting to the
best option regarding length, gates size, style, etc.. There was about a
6 week leadtime from when we mailed the 50% deposit to the time of
installation. We were informed about a week prior to installation so "dig-safe" could come out and mark any utilities.
The installers came right on time on a very hot day. All the posts were set in
concrete. The gate has a metal framed back. They asked some questions
and made helpful suggestions for the install. They worked hard and
cleaned up pretty well for a project like this. The fence feels very
solid and should last for many years.
However there were some cosmetic issues. There is black staining on one
of the panels though this will likely blend in over time. There were
some gouges, rough cut and miss- nailed areas in some panels. There was a
5 inch split halfway up one of the posts with a sharp piece protruding
which I had to repair. I did notify Andrew and their answer was they
were sorry that I was not completely satisfied. I was not looking for
any discount, just letting them know that yes it is a fence but we
expected a somewhat better finish. It seemed overall like a  good
product that was maybe rushed during production due to a heavy sales period
and this resulted in some shortfalls. Some panels were good, some not as good. It might have been better to see
examples of the finished quality  we should have expected instead of just pictures. We are not
sure of any quality differences on the quotes but will consider this more
closely on any future fence project.

    R and G Contracting
John come give us a good quote, not the cheapest one, but I am not looking for the cheapest contractor.
in the quote, everything is write down, what he is going to use, how long it going to take, what will be fixed, replaced, installed.
John is always here, working all day long, talk to him few min before I went to work in the morning, answer my questions, what need to be done, how I want it, it was very nice working with him. He always answer my phone calls, and reply my email. if anything come up, he will call me first, let me know how much it will cost.
John come install Certainteed Cedar Impressions, looks very nice, look like real wood siding, he was careful with my bushes around the house, clean up everyday before he leave, if it is going to rain the next day, he will make sure no water will leak into the house.
    I strongly recommend R and G.
