    I met Phil & Joe Stefanelli of Home Facelifters after I contacted them to help with my flooded basement.  Shortly after moving in to our house, we had our finished basement flood from a large amount of rain and a poorly graded back yard.  From the beginning they were professional, timely, and genuinely cared about us and our situation. They fit us into their busy schedule and started working on our project that week.  They removed the water and gutted the basement right away and began rebuilding from scratch.  The project went so smoothly that we kept them in mind for future projects.  We decided to hire them to remodel our kitchen and our upstairs bathroom which came out flawless. Joe was great about adapting to our changing demands and never once complained when we altered from the original plan.  The crew they employ is top notch as well.  Each carpenter is professional and took care to make sure they limited the impact on our daily lives when working in our house.  Although, they are a medium sized home improvement company, I always felt like I was their top priority. Not only is their craftsmanship great, but they are helpful with design of projects and suggesting materials to use.  They were helpful in every facet of the projects they completed for us.     When I purchased my home, I needed to have a more secure arrangement for my backyard so my dog would be safely let out in the back yard. Diamond Fence put in a new line of fencing where I had had some shrubs removed. On the other side of the yard, they then put in a double wide gate so contractors could have access to the back yead and get equipment in to take care of the trees occasionally. The fencing and the gates have worked well. I aslo had them install a smaller gate on the other side of the yard so that my neighbor could easily drop in for a visit. Work was very well done, the job site was cleaned up completely each day and at the completion of the job. I would recommend highly them to anyone who needs fencing. The owner is very friendly and has lots of suggestions to offer when you are not sure you have the best idea. He knows fencing!

    We were scheduled to have them start at 8:30AM and they actually arrived an hour early, which turned out just as well as those guys put in a full eight hours tearing down half of our old fence and installing the new half! They were very polite and professional, and in a couple of instances where the installation was a little tricky, due to large trees on our property, they asked us how we wanted that piece of the installation done before they did it, which we appreciated. They cleaned up after themselves before they left for the day, even the sawdust(!) and we were very happy with the job that they did! The new fence looks awesome, and we have had several compliments from the neighbors. We will definitely be calling them next Spring/Summer to do the remainder of the fence!

    Believe it or not, I have a fence by Hastie many many years ago. I was fine with them up until recently. I was looking to get a new fence in another part of my property. I had an appointment with them on 3-31-14. So far so good. After that it didn't start off good. It took then 2 weeks to reply to me saying they were sorry it is taking so long because of the home show. Then, I sent them the summary of my quotes requests again (I was trying to figure out my project with different materials). The next day I received a quote but they didn't answer my questions I had sent them. So I nicely replied thanking for the quote but I was looking for answers to my questions to them about the fence options. Three days went by and no response. I sent them another email reminding them about my questions that they never replied to. Three more days and still no rely from them. I sent them another email: "Are you unable to provide the additional information requested 6 days ago?". They replied this time:   "I believe ?. is working on it. I give him every email. We did the homeshow a few weeks ago, and the guys have been slammed with appointments and the paperwork is overwhelming.  They are each doing multiple estimates all over MA and CT all day and on Saturday. In addition to writing up the all of the proposals, and the jobs that are sold, they also have to go over the jobs with the fence installers every morning. We appreciate your patience. He is doing his best to get all the prices for you. Thank you."    Six more days went by, still no replies to my questions to them which would have been easy enough for someone on their team to answer since they are in the fence business. There was no reason why it should take about 1-1/2 weeks for replies to questions. I emailed them again but this time I asked for a fence color that I saw at a business and noticed it was installed by them. I was still trying to work with them even though they are causing delays in communicating with me. I also wrote: "Also, someone at your company should be able to provide those quotes that I requested about a few weeks ago by now. Really, just quotes shouldn't take that long. It isn't an installation job now that I am trying to schedule. I realize you guys are busy but you should be able to put together some accurate numbers and reply to questions when requested quickly since you are in this business and should have instant references." Then, the next day, I received an email back from the other person that was supposedly working on my information. I did not like how he replied to me in a condensenting tone. This is what he said: "As I mentioned before, the textured vinyl material, Bufftech Certagrain is not available with a lattice accent in the color you would like. Also a wood panel with lattice cannot be placed on ground. It has to be stepped. These are the only two options I can offer you. Thanks,"  It is ridiculous that he said "As I mentioned before". Is that anyway to talk to a customer? AND, a customer who had purchased a very expensive fence from this company many years ago. This was ridiculous. This is what I wrote back: "I don't recall that you mentioned that information. You did mention it didn't come in black. That is all. I realize that your company must be busy but it would be helpful to have an organized person working for you so you only do not have to answer these emails directly with the required information, someone else can do it for you. I sent an email on April 15th in this email string. The best thing you could have done is just answered in an orderly way as I had asked the questions, and not just say "As I mentioned before?" at this later date and with no consideration for this delay with my requested information. I have to say I am a disappointed in your company now even though I have had a fence installed by your company long ago (and it wasn't an inexpensive fence either). Apparently you have more work than you can handle and don't need my business. Furthermore, I asked what the model and color of a fence was in East Longmeadow and that information was not even provided to me. When a customer asks a question, it is best to just answer it." I DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE ANY REPLY FROM THEM AFTER THAT - NO SORRY OR ANYTHING. SO UNPROFESSIONAL OF THIS COMPANY, HASTIE FENCE. THEY SHOULD HIRE A COMPETENT CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT WAY.  Then, last month I contacted them again (several months later). Only now was to see about a repair to the fence I already own by Hastie fence. After they installed it, it was them to go back to and get a price to see how much it would be to fix a small area. I was, in a way, testing them to see if they would come through for me and make amends. THEY NEVER REPLIED TO ME. AGAIN, SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT A CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPANY. I also wrote to them for a final time: "I had called a few weeks ago to get a price on how much it would be to replace a damaged picket on the 6' white vinyl fence I purchased from you, and I never received a call back again. I will not have your business sign on my current fence in the future." My previous fence by them was very expensive and you would think they would be grateful of my previous purchase from their company and welcome my business back. But no - I was treated like they didn't care about my business!  USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK. I RECALL, EVEN WHEN I HAD THE ORIGINAL FENCE INSTALLED BY THEM YEARS AGO, I HAD TO BET THEM BACK TO FIX THE GATE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T INSTALL IT PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. People that end up using this company is encouraging them to act this way to customers whenever they feel like it. IT APPEARS THAT SOME FENCE COMPANIES, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A PROPER WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CUSTOMER AND NO ISSUES WITH THAT CUSTOMER, CAN SUDDENLY JUST STOP WORKING WITH THE CUSTOMER. DON'T YOU THINK THAT IS SUSPICIOUS? BY USING COMPANIES LIKE THIS, YOU ARE ENCOURAGING THEM TO ACT LIKE THIS WHENEVER THEY FEEL LIKE IT.

    I called at least 5 times this year and twice last year and left messages.  I never got a call back.  I really wanted to hire them, so I tried one more time and I finally got a call back.  I scheduled an appointment for an estimate and he showed up on time.  Now the estimate was on a Friday and he stated he would mail the estimate on Monday.  Well, he never sent one out.  After 3 weeks, I called him back (Of course I had to leave a message and wait for a call back).  Another week went by and the estimate appeared in the mail.  It's almost as if he forgot what fence I wanted and how much I wanted.  The estimate was actually for 3 different fences all of which I didn't want.  It was at this point tht I knew I didn't wanted to do business with them.  I should note that Hampshire Fence is located at the top of my street, within walking distance and to be neglected like this is unbelievable.  I don't know how they stay in business.
