    C&J Tree Services
while their price was fair and beat the heck out of my former tree svc company, their attention to detail was beyond anything i've ever seen. only complaint was leafblowing the driveway/outside entry area could have been better for all the wood bits left behind. regardless, i have a new tree svc company named C&J.

    RGS Tree Service
Hard a large tree in back of lot that could not be reached by crane and yard had no access for trucks. RGS was one of only 2 companies that were willing to do the job and offered a good price. Rudy was thinking of ways to get the job done vs other companies that simply said it was not worth their time or they would do it for comically large amounts of money. We ended up working with a neighbor to remove a fence to get a bucket truck in (barely!), Rudy's crew was great, they even worked around an old phone line running through the backyard that I said they could remove. And they did it all in a day. I'm sleeping better at night now that that very large rotten tree is gone. My only possible issue is that I told him I was not in a big hurry to remove the tree and he took that pretty literally as it took a few months to get to it, but he did check in and it was also when we had a series of intense storms with lots of wind damage that I believe was keeping him busy. Highly recommend.

    RGS Tree Service
Awesome job, the crew was very professional. They completed the job as planned and in a timely manner. The cost was very reasonable. The tree was removed w/o any issues and everything was cleaned up before leaving. I would highly recommend them for tree removal and landscaping needs.

Good! Debbie in the office is great. Ryan came out and explained to me what was going on with the tree and what they could do to help. I did wind up following up to make sure I got on their service schedule, which I did. They came by to do a winter moth spray, and I'll be having them back for subsequent treatments. I thought the cost was reasonable, and they're really nice people to work with.

    ASC Tree Service
Not well and I was very surprised because all the reviews I read were very positive. I plan to provide a very detailed factual, substantitive account of my experience so others can best determine if they want to invest any time dealing with this company. I emailed and called ASC before purchasing a $299 for $400 worth of tree service coupon because 1) it was work I wanted done within the week 2) and since most of the reviews were out of my immediate area and larger jobs, I wanted to know that this small job was in the geographic area and scope of what they would do. Within 15 minutes I received the following reply via email; "Typical rates as followed: -390 minimum up to 1 hour. -250 per hour" Not even signed ... so I had no idea with whom I was communicating via email, which disturbed me but I was open to exploring because the the rates quoted were far less than what I had been paying for tree removal, and the "special" on Angie's list made it even more "too good to be true" ... and guess what, I think it is too good to be true. Shortly after the email reply, I received a phone call from a gentlemen who identified himself as John from ASC. I provided a detailed explanation of what I needed done and also asked about the Angie's list special and insurance. John said he would defer to the "big boss" for answers to my questions. John then said he could come the next day and that it sounded like something he would be able to do same day in an hour, but did not give a time. I told him I was available to meet him the next day but to call when he knew the time so I could meet him at the property. John called mid to late afternoon when about 15 minutes out, I met him and we began reviewing what I needed. I quickly realized that the work was not getting done same day as he mentioned and I hoped when he said something about an estimate would need to come from his boss, that he was just the lead technician ... and he kept pushing for tree removal as the Maple tree roots have taken over a good part of the front lawn. I pointed to the specific branches and/or limbs I wanted removed from the smaller Magnolia and larger Maple tree and he told me I was not even at the hour minimum yet ... so I looked for others to get to the hour. I also asked about removing and/or grinding a few small shrub stumps to get me to hour and he indicated that was a separate additional charge. I again asked about the $299 for $400 worth tree service special and he requoted the $390 minimum first hour rate and $250 additional hour. I then asked about additional charges like travel time and if removal was included. John said clients are charged for the time on site and there were no additional removal or other charges. John then asked to see the Angie's list special because no one ever asked about it before. I showed him and emailed him as he asked. He said when his boss sends the estimate I can discuss with him. I also checked again that this was work they could do within the week and assured me they could ... turns out that was inaccurate. An unclear estimate was sent very promptly the next morning in yet another unsigned email. I did not fully understand neither the scope of job as described in the estimate nor what the final amount quoted was ... and it appeared my work would be scheduled at ASC's convenience as an ad on with other job. I first saw the estimate mid to late afternoon and asked the sender to call. He said he would have "Johnny" call me. I asked who was emailing me and thought my questions would be best answered by that person. The unnamed email sender continued making assumptions about my questions and concerns and sending unhelpful responses even after I explained that at the time I had a retina failure that was impacting my vision and at the time could not communicate via email. I only wanted a five minute call so I could 1) understand, not question the total ... again, keep in mind it was far less than I had been paying and the way it was written, the total amount was unclear. Plus it mentioned additional fuel and haul away charges 2) understand what they would complete as the scope of the work did not accurately reflect what John and I discussed yet the time allotted for the job was greater than the hour minimum I was trying to reach 3) I wanted to understand if the insurance had a hazardous weather conditions rider because Johnny indicated that they perform service even in inclimate weather. At 5:02, I finally did get that call from the unnamed person emailing me but was outside and missed it. Apparently the unnamed emailer was the owner Jason who left a message on my land line which I heard after I tried calling him back minutes after seeing ASC on my cell phone caller ID where he did not leave a message. The message was somewhat unfriendly, almost adversarial in tone and cursory in content. Among other things Jason's message said I am the owner, we close at 4 and it's after 5, we can send over insurance and we sent you the price and it doesn't work for you, we completely understand. Again, another communication that does not address any of my questions. So I politely responded via email for the last time; "Hi Jason, I just now heard your message on my land line and that you are the owner. Thank you for calling. Sounds like you assumed I had issue with the cost ... I do not. Again, I am experiencing an eye failure and cannot continue communicating this way." Rather than an email reply that indicated he would call back when the business week resumed, or asking when a good time to speak might be he emailed "yet again" that I asked for a call and got it, stay warm, happy holidays. I have blocked ASC from emailing me. I met with and selected another tree service who is a bit more expensive, but far better communicating . I shared the facts in as much detail as the hour I allotted for this task allowed. However, I will provide my own brief assessment. I do not believe the special is legitimate and /or ASC is at all interested in tree work other than substantial and/or removal jobs. I also checked sources other than Angie's list and saw reviews reflecting my experience and learned that they are a very new business. Perhaps they need to better develop client relationship skills and business acumen. ASC Tree Service may have talented, seasoned tree technicians, but I will not do business with a company &/or sole proprietor who demonstrates a distinct unwillingnes to clearly communicate with clients and acts like they are begrudgingly doing an acquaintance a favor rather than getting paid for providing a service.

GT Optimo Construction & Tree Service
Surprisingly they showed up on time 2 days in a row. The reason I was surprised is most contractors are undependable always late and unprofessional. They showed up they cut down the trees (amazing to watch) they where very professional all there trucks and equipment looked brand new. Large bucket truck. They dropped a few large trunks in neighbors yard which I expected As tree was 3/4 into yard I planned on fixing any grass indents. But they took care of it. You couldn't tell. They cleaned up yard and chips. Also they would not do any work until I received their insurance. I was thinking about hiring another person before having an estimate from GT I had a bad feeling the others didn't have any insurance.

    Spruced Up Tree and Shrub
Charlotte was incredibly professional and did a wonderful job trimming back our tree. Most tree trimmers hack at the tree and make the poor thing look abused. Charlotte was careful to remove the branches that were touching house without making it look like we trimmed at all.

She also gave me several recommendations on how to help the tree continue to thrive.

She came with all the materials she needed, she climbed the tree, had poles for reaching out of my house's third story windows and her helper was very friendly as well.

I highly recommend her and will, without hesitation, use her services again.

Great. Tony (the owner of Artistic Landscapes) is a very good listener, he communicates well, very knowledgeable about his profession, very respectful of others, honest, he gives written estimates (extremely useful) and uses contracts. He and Will did a wonderful job of making my yard look like a yard again. And he gave very good advice on how he intended to prune some of my trees (yes, this really matters). I did use an Angie?s List Service Special but I combined that with more work. I definitely will hire Tony in the future.

    Iron Tree Service
Iron tree service came in $100 cheaper than 2 other quotes. Their response time for a quote was within 48 hours. They scheduled the work within 5 days. The able and professional crew came with the bucket truck and made short but careful work of removing 3 large overhanging branches from a large maple. The crew removed 2 other branches at no extra charge that made sense to remove. They also took out a medium size maple and grouping of lilacs. They took everything away including some branches I had removed myself. Step two was the stump grinding, which I was told would happen in a few days. The crew member confirmed this before he did the job and confirmed that no payment would be due till the stumps were ground. I had a drainage project to do and called the company about 10 days later and asked when they could grind the stumps. They came the next day and did a great job and I paid them. Thanks!

    Dakoda Tree Service
Neighbor's 50' tree fell over, the top half into my yard.  Neighbor arranged removal so I can't speak as to price.  Marc (the owner) was a pleasure to work with.  He called me that night (at my request) to let me know when they'd be arriving the next day, and then they did arrive as scheduled.  They worked quickly and efficiently, and within a couple of hours the tree and debris were all cleared.  If not for the damage to fence and shed (caused by falling tree), you would never know that half of a giant tree had been lying there.  I would definitely hire for any tree needs I may have in the future.
