Music Instruction reviews in Quincy

I am an adult student who took piano lessons for about 10 years in the 80's and 90's. Since then, I have continued to play, but my technique and skill has deteriorated considerably. I was looking for a teacher who could work with me to correct my technical deficiency and help me play better. Liana is outstanding an outstanding teacher. Her knowledge and experience is impressive (her playing is extraordinary), but most importantly, she is an great listener, with patience and a kind nature that makes learning fun. It's clear her goal is to impart a love of music on the student. I have gained confidence and learned quite a bit in a fairly short time. I feel my lessons are valuable and quite enjoyable. I strongly recommend Liana for anyone who loves the piano and wants to learn more about it.

I'm 40 years old and, though I have played several musical instruments formally and informally in my past, the last time I played orchestral or rock-n-roll instruments was 20 years ago. When I recently mentioned to my wife that I'd really like to learn to play guitar "right" sometime (having dabbled in teaching myself a long time ago), she got lessons with Greg for my birthday.
I've been to around 10 lessons with Greg so far, and I have to say that I'm really impressed with his teaching skills. First off, he adapts very quickly to your skill level; he'll give you things to challenge you while not overwhelming you. Second, he doesn't only teach you scales and musical theory without application like some music teachers do. Third, he listens to what *you* want to do. For example, I told him that I always wanted to learn finger picking, and mentioned a few songs I liked that used that technique; he learned them on his own and the began teaching them to me. Fourth, in a good balance between my second and third points, he will always sneak in some theory into your lessons but always teach you how the theory can help you in practical situations. For example, in my very first lesson he taught me the simple minor pentatonic scale and showed me how I can use it to solo in any 12-bar blues song.
Finally, he's someone that makes you feel comfortable at all times -- someone you aren't afraid to screw up in front of, and someone you can bring questions to. I really enjoy our lessons, feel like I'm learning a lot, and plan to continue. When my kids are old enough to start learning an instrument, I'll send them to Greg too.
Please consider using Greg as your teacher. I think you'll be very satisfied.

It was small group instruction at the YMCA and the instructor was good. The instructor was good with the kids.
