    Yelena V. alterations and tailoring
    Yelena was a godsend.  The place that ordered my wedding dress kept promising that they understood my vision and that they could make the changes I wanted, but it became rapidly clear that that wasn't true.  A friend who has used Yelena for years recommended her, and she was terrific.  She was honest with me when she thought a particular change (remove a bit of excess chiffon there, add a couple extra beads to the belt here) wasn't worth the time, effort or cost, but if it was important to me, she'd do it, and do it right.  She also worked with me to make a cape from scratch that was exactly what I wanted.  I can't recommend her highly enough!

    GRANDASIA BRIDAL & PROM
    This was an outstanding experience for me. After being in many many other Bridal shop I finally encountered what I deserve. This place is a DREAM COME TRUE for any type of bride.
    The min I walked in they were very very friendly and welcoming. Took our coats, made us feel comfortable, and offered us something to drink. What I loved the most is that I could browse and pick unlimited wedding gowns to try on. They were so kind and polite. Each time we needed help with professional assistant they were there, set and ready for anything and everything. What I loved most about this place is their honesty and that they try to make the IMPOSSIBLE...POSSIBLE! What more can a bride to be ask for?!
    I personally needed 2 bridal gowns, and I found them BOTH at Grandasia. I found myself becoming a loyal customer and going back to them for practically anything and everything I need...THey're always there to help and make my life stressfree!
    P.S. They're new location is absolutely STUNNING!!!! For correction the address is 1545 Hancock st. Quincy MA 02169

    SIMPLY BARBARA
    I came to Barbara because she was a near-by seamstress and I had forgotten to get a bustle put into my wedding gown. Now you have to understand if I didn't have that I couldn't dance in my wedding gown, but Barbara came to my rescue. I contacted a few other seamstresses and they all called me back saying, and quot;No, two weeks is too short of notice. I can't help you.and quot;
    Now something you have to understand is I'm a kind of and quot;t-shirt and jeansand quot; girl. Generally speaking, very casual, so I don't even know where to begin as far as dressing up. Barbara patiently pointed out that was too long for my build (I'm pretty short) and that the dress was meant to be worn with a petty coat (I had just been letting it sort of hang there). The hemming and the bustle were completed after a few fittings and remarkably short notice, with dry cleaning to boot. She was very reasonable the whole time and really cared about making sure I liked the work that was being done.
    In the wedding industry, you'll often find that people and quot;know bestand quot; and will tell you what looks best or how to do things, but Barbara just really cared that I was happy with the result. I'm very grateful that she put so much work into this!

    Hancock Upholstering
    We purchased an original 1940's chrome kitchen set that had severe damage to the chair coverings.  We looked high and low for vinyl coverings that were of that period.  After anexhaustive research, we remembered how helpful Therese of Hancock Upholstering was.  She called around and was able to locate a company in upstate New York that could supply the correct period vinyl in the correct colors.  The product was ordered through her, we gave her the chairs and she restored them to their original beauty.  We receive so many compliments on her work.

    PEARL CLEANERS
    The good news was that I won an auction on the internet for a gorgeous silk black tea length cocktail dress, the bad news was that it was one or two sizes too big! Luckily I was able to have the folks at Pearl alter the dress to perfection. I was especially impressed with the perfectionism of the owner. She pinned the dress one way but didn't like the way it fell so then she pinned it a different way. At that point, I felt it wasn't quite fitted enough so she pinned it a third time until we agreed that it looked correct. When the initial work was done and I went back, she noticed an area pulling away from my body. So we went through the process of pinning first one way then a better way again. She took the time to make sure that my dress was going to look good on my body, I never felt rushed and she stuck to the original estimate.
