We have delta dental, and even though my husband asked if he owed a co-payment at the date of service, she smiled and said, "no, we will just bill the insurance, all set!" Of course we signed a authorization form saying we would pay if the insurance didn't, but we ended up getting a bill for $200 later. Apparently, they decided to pick the more expensive white filling that our insurance doesn't pay for. Delta is a very common insurance in Massachusetts,so the practice assistant should have known this and communicated it. They should have offered an option, ie) either pay out of pocket, or get the filling that your insurance will cover. When my husband went back for another cleaning, the practice assistant harassed him for payment of the bill. Despite our calls and letters sent, they were ignored. They sent the bill to collections and we just paid it because neither of us have time to chase down a deadbeat dental office for resolution. I work in healthcare, and know that it should be an ethical standard for a practice to notify a patient if insurance didn't cover a service. In addition to the lack of communication on the billing, I had one appointment that the dentist wasn't there for. The second time, they changed the time of my appointment without even asking. While I think the dentist and hygienist are just fine, the practice assistant should probably find another line of work because she is awful and they just lost a couple of patients.

I had an infection in an upper molar. I'd had negative experiences
with a general dentist and an endodontist who
couldn't solve my problem or even correctly diagnose it.  Because my
dear departed dad was a Tufts-graduate dentist, I went to Tufts faculty
practice for an evaluation from endodontist Dr. Kerith Rankin.  (The faculty practice isn't
the regular school practice. It's staffed by experienced dentists who
teach in the school. Prices are similar to any dentists' offices, I think.)
I was able to get an appointment quickly.  Dr Rankin's "bedside personality"
was great -- first time I've laughed in a dental office.  Turns out my
previous endodontist had done a needless root canal, thinking the first one
had failed.  Then the same dentist had wanted to cut a hole in my gum  to
go in and saw off  the tip of the tooth's root then fill it from the inside, thinking
that would solve my infection problem.  That's when I went for another opinion.
Dr. Rankin sent me for a 3D xray at Tufts.  That told the real story:
The root had a fracture, with no way to fix it.  I'd already spent
$1500 after insurance on a needless
re-root canal and was told I should spend more for a surely painful
operation to saw off the root tip.  Thanks to Dr. Rankin, I know the
real picture: the tooth can't be saved.
I'm sad about having to lose the tooth, but very glad
I didn't have a hole cut in my gum and spend much more money all
needlessly to save a tooth that couldn't be saved.  Tufts has equipment
that many dentists don't, I think -- like the 3D xray machine.  And at least one dentist
who knows how to use it.  I highly recommend Tuft's faculty practice. I don't have
experience with the school practice, but after I lose my Cobra dental insurance,
    I may try it.

Details? OK I had a recurring issue with my gums becoming sore and inflamed on one side of my mouth. Did not seem like a big deal, but annoying in the continuing recurrence.

During a regular cleaning Dr. Lutz said he did not like the and quot;lookand quot; of a decades old filling and wanted to replace it with their new super ceramic filling. I had my doubts as to the need to spend the money on the and quot;lookand quot; of a filling. Who would see it??? I however approved the replacement of the old filling and about a month after the procedure I suddenly realized that the gum issue (right by the new filling) had totally disappeared. Totally gone. He saw an issue I did not even know I had. A low grade infection from a very old filling. That is superior dental work.

Dr. Pellegrini takes care of my dental work when I need them.  He usually looks at my teeth after the cleaning is done.  So he checks me up.  I’ve been going to him for so long because he makes me feel comfortable and he’s good.

He is very friendly and nice guy I like the people that work for him. He is very knowledgeable. He shows you everything what he is going to do and has latest equipment. As a matter of fact I lost a tooth one day and they took me in the next day. I would use them again.

Wonderful!! From the staff, to the office, to Dr. Morlan himself, the whole experience was wonderful. He has a fabulous chair side manner, which is an asset, especially in dentistry. The operatory was spotless and the equipment is state-of-the-art. Dr. Morlan did a comprehensive exam and explained in detail what he was seeing as he was doing the exam. The options were explained as to a best course of treatment, but not once, did I feel like he was trying to sell me something I didn't need. I go back for a cleaning next week and will be following up for a crown. So glad I found this office in my new hometown.

This is a very professional office and they take pride in running a good dentist office. I have had exams, xrays and a couple of fillings over the past 2 years, and all has gone well.
I wish all dentist practices were run like this one.

I have been going to her for several years now. I am very pleased with her and I like her very much. When I need special services like a root canal and extraction, she sends me to somebody that I am comfortable with as well. She is friendly and personable. When I have a problem, she takes me in right away.

Both the hygienists and Dr O'Brien were friendly and courteous. They were also good about explaining procedures and answering questions. The billing was a bit confusing, but when I called to sort it out the receptionist was very helpful and patient with it.
