    Tom Brady Carpentry
Tom and his crew were excellent. I was in the middle of a major renovation project when my carpenter disappeared. Tom agreed to work on my house whenever he had a free day or two in his schedule. Over the period of two months he came in and corrected many errors and shoddy work done by the previous carpenter. He worked with me to design and build a new front porch, roof extension, and rear deck. He framed, floored and insulated the attic. He removed and replaced damaged vinyl siding. During the rainiest fall on record, Tom and his brothers Sean and Kevin, went way above and beyond, switching from one task to another, inside and outdoors, to get the house finished, on time and on budget.

    St Germain Construction
When I decided to have my house vinyl sided, I turned to Angie's List to find a top-notch contractor that could do quality work at a fair price. Vinyl siding tends to have a bad reputation because so many times the job is done poorly. This is especially true for re-siding work over existing wood clapboards or shingles. My home is from 1895 and the exterior retains that old-fashioned attention to detail and charm that you can't find anymore: wide corner boards and frieze moldings. The clapboard, however, had deteriorated to the point where residing was the only reasonable alternative. I wanted to find someone that could bring the house back to life without losing its original charm. I met with four different contractors - all top rated on Angie's List.. Two were owner-operators that were onsite overseeing the project and doing the work themselves. One was a small contractor that ran a couple different crews, and one was a medium size firm that had 4-5 different crews and projects going at the same time. Generally I found that the larger the firm, the more higher the quote. I found this ironic because my preference was to work with an owner-operator that would take personal responsibility for the finished project. Too many times I have hired companies and ended up working with job supervisors that I did not meet during the bidding process and sometimes had problems communicating with. I feel that is always a crap shoot on whether you'll get the "A" crew or the "B" crew. St. Germain Construction was one of the owner-operators I had bid on the project. Reggie immediately struck me with his larger-than-life personality. He came out to the house and looked at the project. And then he had me follow him around town to look at several houses he had done over the years. He advised that when it comes to residing projects I should pay attention to the details - especially to the way that windows and doors are "wrapped" with aluminum. (A poor siding job ends up with windows that appear sunken-in with little to no architectural detail around them.) The homes that he had siding all still looked good even several years after the job. He didn't hesitate to tell me that he was "the best in the business" and at first I chalked it up to self-promotion. It wasn't until I looked at the other contractors projects that I was really able to appreciate Reggie's attention to detail and see that he was telling it like it is. (For example: Reggie miters the aluminum trim and J-channel around the windows, making them look really sharp. He also uses white J-channel around the windows which is a trick I didn't see any contractor using and one that I thought made all the difference in the world. Every contractor said they could do that but when I looked at the houses they sided, they didn't do it that way. Excellence in craftsmanship shouldn't be something you CAN do when asked - it should be something you just DO, day in and day out as a matter of habit). So I hired St. Germain Construction, and we are now in the second week of the project. Even though the house is not finished, it is looking fabulous! Reggie and his cousin Roger have been great to work with. His communication before and during the job has been second to none, and he has been receptive to requests that I've made along the way. He has an appreciation for architectural detail and takes enormous pride in the work he does. I would recommend him without hesitation and will post an update with pictures once the project is done.

    Bauman Remodeling
The work began with Mike bringing a structural engineer to assess the damage.  They made a small opening in the ceiling, right below the dormer windows wall.  The engineer took all the necessary measurements and got back to Mike and me very quickly with proposed structural improvements.  The plan called for cutting the existing ceiling framing and inserting a number of large LVL beams, supported by two columns hidden inside the walls.  Then the ceiling joists would be attached to the LVLs on both side.  Mike?s crew jumped into the demo work right away, and was also able to put up the supporting walls on both side of the opening in the same day.  It seems that cutting through ceiling joists full of old nails and whatever else was challenging, however the most difficult part was putting the new LVL beams into place, which required making a hole in the side of the house and pushing them through that whole.  At first that proposition scared the crap outof us, but Mike reassured us that when all set and done, we would never be able to tell that a temporarily hole was ever there.  Thankfully he was absolutely right ? the work is all done and the exterior wall is sealed tight and the vinyl siding looks like it?s never been touched.
All the work was completed in three days.
It is absolutely astounding to us that someone actually approved a living space (children?s bedroom) above a garage ceiling support only by 2x9 joists spanning 20+ feet with no other support of any kind anywhere - CRAZY.  You always hear how back in the days things were done right and built forever ? what a load of crap, our house was built in the 50s!  Norwood inspector,
who approved this building should have been jailed.
Needless to say, I can?t express how happy we are with Mike?s work, and how grateful we are for the speed with which it was completed, the professionalism of his crew and the quality of the final product.  I would recommend Bauman Remodeling in a
heartbeat, and plan on using them for a couple more projects, hopefully in early 2016.

    Viola Roofing & Contracting
After getting a number of quotes from contractors agreed to use Viola to do some basic repairs on my garage and home based on his excellent estimate and the general feeling I got from Brian who came out to do the inspection for the estimate.  He was prompt for the appointment and was very through pointing out some areas of soffit that I had missed and making sure to note to repair those as well.
Unfortunately the work had to be put on hold as he came out for the estimate just before all of the snow storms this year and we had to wait for some of that to melt before his crew could get out.
My only minor complaint is that his crew just showed up to do the work one day.  Not a big deal as it was all outdoor work and he told me I didn't need to be home, it was just a surprise to pull into my driveway and have them there.  A heads up would have been nice.
Will definitely use them again for any outdoor contracting work in the future, very pleased with the work they did.

    Neponset Valley Construction
We called to make an appointment to look at damaged siding. We had to
call repeatedly to get them to put us in their appointment book. They
didn't show up but apologized earnestly. We set another appointment and
they came and said the job was simple for them and they would send an
estimate. They never sent an estimate. We called at least 3x to get an
estimate and they kept saying the person was not in but would get back
to us. We eventually just gave up.
We had read on Angie's list that they do a good job if you have a big job for them but it seemed like they blow you off if you do not have a big enough job. We wish they had just been honest and referred us to someone else to do the job. If we do ever have a big job, we will not give them our business.

    Durable Remodeling

For a couple of months we contacted several contractors to build us a deck or patio. Many contractors did not even respond, some responded but did not show up, some showed up but gave us incorrect information about the required foundation design, or some were simply too expensive or had many weeks of lead time. When we were about to postpone the project to next spring, we met with Jeff Willette on November 4. He arrived 15 minutes prior to our appointment and explained us our options and the related costs in a straight forward and clear manner. We decided on building a 13.5? x 23.5? deck using pressure treated wood. Unlike all other contractors he provided us a quote right away on site which was quite a bit lower than the ones we had received before. The week after, after getting the permit, Dean and Derek Willette completed the job beautifully within a few days. Overall it was a very pleasant experience for us. They were responsive, honest and nice to work with, competitive in cost, and most of all, the project was completed beautifully within a very short period of time. We will certainly contact Durable Remodeling for other potential home improvements.

    Br Roofing & Gutter
Excellent Job!    I chose this company due to knowledge that my employer uses him for roof and gutter installation and repairwork and he always does an excellent job.   I like to support Deaf-owned businesses like this one.   I tcorresponded with him by text message (781-733-0095) and I briefly explained the problem.   He arrived with all the right tools for the job, had plenty of ladders, and had flashing in the truck to make repairs.
He solved a problem that 5 other contractors were not able to fix.   He was smart enough to come on a rainy day to troubleshoot more effectively.  I attempted to persuade him to install for me some add-on items (gutter covers) and he declined- stating that those devices do not usually work and would be a waste of money.   That kind of honesty is pretty rare, so I will definitely hire him again in the future!

    DLM REMODELING
Dave was very helpful with suggesting window styles and suggesting we visit the Harvey Showroom. They were there everyday, even when it was absolutely freezing outside. They are a very efficient team who do great work. They arrived everyday on time and worked very fast. I highly recommend them. We had a few pictures fall off the walls during the stripping and Dave reimbursed us so we could buy new frames. He's very reasonable and he made the potentially stressful experience much easier.

    Comfort Windows
A representative of Comfort Windows came to our house to give an estimate on sidimg our house. He was the first to come discuss siding. He was very thorough in his presentation and very patiently explained all that was involved. We learned a lot about the entire siding process, and were very impressed with his professionalism. After much discussion among the family, we decided that it would be in best keeping with the style of the house to go with painting.
