Last fall we had a small leak around a vent stack on the roof. RES was highly recommended on Facebook so we called them. They fixed the leak for a very reasonable cost and gave us a quote on fixing our chimney and replacing our roof, which we knew we had to do soon. When we decided to have the roof done there was no question who we would call. RES did an outstanding job. We were away the day of the installation and except for the beautiful new roof you would never know they were here. Every tiny scrap of the old roof was picked up and there isnt a single nail in the yard. They also replaced the waterproofing around the chimney. They were very upfront about the extra costs if they found two layers of old shingles or any rotted deck boards. We did have two layers to be removed which added to the cost but luckily the deck boards were all good. The cost was thousands less than we had expected and the roof looks great. My wife and I highly recommend RES Home Improvements. We have already asked for a quote to replace our front door.

Excellent technicians. Good team. Florian and Anthony were 2 great technicians to work with. They took about 4 hours to complete the services and now everything is where it was supposed to be. Thanks a lot.

It went really great! The guys were on time, actually a few minutes early and they called me before they got here. That was suprising but very nice and professional. They were clean and dressed in uniforms which was also different from the contractors I've had come to my house in the past. They explained everything to me. I hadn't known the top of my chimney was in such disrepair but after they showed me pictures it was very apparent I needed the work done. I would hire them again (hope I don't have to) and I would recommend a friend. Actually my neighbor used them too and was happy.

Contacted Louis for a fireplace inspection on a home that I was purchasing. Louis worked me into his already over-busy schedule, did a thorough inspection and told me that the chimney would not need a flue liner and that we could delay repointing the masonry until Spring. He was courteous, punctual, and very clear about not recommending unneeded repairs.

We purchased a small "good bones" house that was built in 1953, had never been updated, and had suffered some serious neglect and abuse in the last decade or so. We had never needed a contractor before and no one we know had any good recommendations for us, so we were pretty much reliant on reading reviews. B&B had a lot of good reviews and no negatives, and the owner, Bill Germaine was the most prompt, responsive, detailed contractor we interviewed. His pricing was very reasonable, so we signed on.
I know you won't believe this, but Bill's team finished our initial scope of work before the date specified in the contract. We were so happy with the work on the exterior and the main level of the house, and Bill had done such a great job of helping us keep costs in check, that we had him extend the scope to putting a new floor and ceiling in the finished basement. That work was also done in reasonable time.
Bill communicated with us throughout the project, always returned phone calls the same day or the next day, and checked in frequently to make sure we were happy with the work. There were no major errors, and the few little things that went wrong--a minor mixup in paint colors, a missed detail here or there--were taken care of quickly and cheerfully. The careful work from Bill and his team made everything we were able to do with a modest budget look amazing. We love our beautiful little house and we're already planning to have Bill tackle our back porch soon.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They showed up very late. The guy was making excuses when he got here. I guess he did his job but I've never really had a fireplace inspected before. I assume he did what he was supposed to do. They seemed perfectly fine and they were friendly. They said the fireplaces were perfectly fine so they really didn't do any work. I didn't pay any additional money. The price was fine. They set up the appointment quickly. I probably wouldn't use them again.

    Affordable Masonry
John offered a free estimate, but forgot our appointment. We resheduled, and he proved to be very personable and seemed knowledgeable, so we booked a date for him to come and do the work. He arrived with two assistants, and the three of them spent the day working. Later, when I inspected the work, I was quite disappointed. There were a number of problems with the walk. First, the forms were not built to the specifications that I had requested. (I had given him an exact drawing of what I wanted.) Also, the concrete was not brought up to the top of the forms. In some places it was over an inch low and very uneven. But the biggest problem was that there were large areas where the aggregate (the little rocks in the concrete) was popping through, making the finish extremely rough. I called John to let him know I was displeased, and he did apologize and offered to come back to see if he could fix it.  Unfortunately, you can't fix concrete once it has set up. I built a new form and had another company come and pour a new layer of concrete over what John had done. It now looks great.
I was also disappointed in the chimney work. One of the caps is even crooked..

    Complete Chimney Service Inc
The service was wonderful. They were responsive to me. I have been scammed by a chimney company before, so I was devastated to have pay for work to be done again. They explained everything that they were doing and why. They gave me every possible discount they could in addition to my Angies List discount. They followed up with me. I had issues with an oil company and they again explained what they had done. They were just wonderful. They were very honest, professional and educated. I paid the price for the Big Deal, but then they had to rebuild my chimney and replace liners, so there was significant work that had to be done. Their knowledge about chimney technology stood out to me.

    Commonwealth Fireplace & Grill Shop
I visited the showroom on November 3, 2012.
The salesman was very knowledgeable and not at all pushy. We settled on the unit I wanted and arranged for them to coordinate installation with the plumber and electrician that they use. They handled all the paperwork and running around for required permits.
They were very up-front about the expected lead time for installation - it was about six weeks.
Their subcontractors:  Plumber (Zack's Plumbing out of Needham) and Electrician (Tom Panek of Mansfield) were professional and courteous. They also did a great job.
The unit we purchased is a Valor G3 Legend. We could not be any happier with its performance.
This was a "luxury" purchase for us and well worth the price.
Total price above includes unit and installation.
the unit itself was $3250 including taxes.

    Atlantic Chimney Inc
My home is a very attractiveRoyal Barry Willls style cape with two large white brick chimneys.    During the very "snowy" winter of 2011, a roofing contractor noticed that some bricks were dislodged/some had fallen on the roof from one chimney.     Obtained quotes from three contractors:    two wanted to completely rebuild both chimneys for quotes ranging from $13,000 to $27,000.    Contacted my plumber, whose judgment I value, and was referred to Atlantic Chimney.        Fabulous job.....repaired both chimneys, repointed where necessary, and then encased both in a waterproof mortar product (looks like stucco); painted both white and added a black cap at the top.    This process will last for many, many years.
Prior to decision to contract with Atlantlic, was given names and addresses of other customers who had applied a similar technique.   Visited two homes, one in Milton and the other in Dedham, both were also delighted with work performed by Atlantic.
All in all, I am thoroughly delighted with the project Atlantic completed.      Would rehire without hesitation.
