    St Germain Construction
This is the second time that I've used St. Germain Construction. The first time to repair siding improperly installed by the previous homeowner and this time because of a tree falling and damaging the siding. Both times St. Germain Construction has been exceptionally prompt in answering the phone, providing the estimate and doing the work. He found some minor additional work that needed to be done after the quote and didn't charge any extra to do that additional work. I would highly recommend.

Jeff was great to work with. He's fully licensed, fully insured and shows you all the certifications he has to really make you feel comfortable with him and his employees. I was looking to have new siding put on my house and had many contractors come to give me quotes. I have to say, Jeff's pricing was right in line with other contractors, he was totally professional and the best part is that he did exactly what he said he was going to do and for not a penny more. Jeff's crew, led by Bruce, was fantastic. They were all very polite and courteous and as I mentioned, they truly did a fantastic job. Many of our neighbors were commenting on how nice our house came out and as such, have since signed up with Jeff to have their houses re sided as well. I would definitely recommend Jeff to anyone looking to get their siding done. Thank you, Ray

    Mario's Roofing Siding & Windows
The sales rep, Dan L. came to our home for an estimate for a new roof and siding. We knew there was a problem with air circulation in the attic. Dan looked at the roof and vents and told us we had a problem. He recommended a solution before we even broached the subject. He explained in great detail what the work entailed, how long it should take, the quality of the materials that we chose and the warranty information. He came to our home again before the men started the job. The roofers did an excellent job. There were team members cleaning up the debris, nails, etc. as the old roof was taken off. Once the work was completed, another professional came out to inspect the work. Once they left, you could not tell anyone had been there except for the beautiful new roof. Once the weather cleared there was a team to do the vinyl siding. Two crew members came a day early and brought all their tools and equipment. They told us what to expect from the installers. The entire team was so professional and worked from early in the morning until it was dusk. They removed the old shingles, prepped the house and then the siding was installed. Gutters were installed also. They removed about 6 outdoor lights when they put up the siding and we chose not to have them re-install them. It was the perfect time to replace all the outdoor lighting on the house. We had our electrician install them a few days later. Clean up was performed quickly. Expect a truck in your driveway to hold all the debris/waste from the job while they are working. On the last day, Dan came out again to make sure all was well. The teams that performed the work were very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. We selected a brand new color of siding that became available just this year and have volunteered to let Dan use us as a referral. We are now ordering a new front door from Mario's and will have them do the installation. We are very, very pleased with all the workmanship and materials. Dan Lunney is a joy to work with. He has great customer service skills!

    REI Roofing And Construction Inc
REI Roofing did a great job on our entire house.  Luke helped us through the entire process of the ice dam damage.  We had to have our entire roof ripped off, mold remediated, dormer window repaired and new roof installed.  We also hired Luke to install our new siding, replace a window and garage door.  The crew removed the old siding, sealed the exterior and put the new siding on.  Luke and his crew were very professional and everything was completed on a timely manner.  When the jobs were finished, they made sure the yard was clean when they left.  Luke was so helpful and we really appreciate the work he did for us.  I would hire him again and recommend his work and professionalism.

    United Better Homes
This is not a firm I'd suggest for  anyone to work with.  In advance of signing the contract, I told them I wanted to meet the project manager who would be responsible for this work - they sent a project manager out for me to meet but when the work finally started , that project manager never showed up and, in fact, I never saw this person again.  Bait & switch?

The contract was signed in April 2013 indicating a start in 3-4 weeks but the work did not begin until the end of September.
They repeatedly blamed Harvey distributor for the continued 3-4 months delays - they insist Harvey ordered wrong materials, Harvey ordered wrong part for the front door,  and then Harvey ordered the wrong size door for the side door, etc....
When they finally showed up to do the work, there were issues on a daily basis.  UBH subcontracted the work out to another firm and the workers that showed up barely spoke english.  Most disgusting, over the first two weeks they used our back yard as a bathroom leaving dozens of piles of toilet paper and feces all over the yard - this was despite the availability of a bathroom just inside the back door. The quality of the work was problematic as well.  Window trim was installed improperly requiring that I've got to have new custom sized screens built.  Siding was cut crooked.   There were issues with flashing being installed on top of decking instead of below which was since corrected but since the siding was already cut, there were 3" gaps they simple caulked to fill in.  Fixture openings were sloppy. Security leads were not reinstalled.  Entry points for utilities were cut improperly and several of the cables and lines were not resecured.  Windows were damaged.  Inside window trim was ruined.  A transom window they installed was defective but they installed it anyway claiming it was Harvey distributor's fault.  They threw away the house shutters claiming they were doing me a " favor" because the shutters needed to be washed.  They broke a window pane with double paned glass and took it to get it fixed- they returned a window that had two pieces of glass with caulk in between to pass as double-paned glass instead of fixing it properly.  There were so many issues, I can not even list them all here.   UBH was confrontational each time an issue was brought to their attention - they would typically deny the issue was an issue and were dismissive until the evidence was clear.  The people involved in this project demonstrated little concern for the quality of the project work; this was a group that seemed to simply want to do as little as possible to get the work done leaving us very concerned about the quality of work that is not visible.
There were so many unfinished items and issues with the work that the final punch list had over 100+ items.  One of the major issues was the workers spilled paint all across the back composite deck and across a newly installed composite front porch.  The front porch paint they sanded off and damaged the surface.  The back deck they have tried twice now to remove the paint without success.  Additionally, they ripped apart boards instead of removing the screws.  They are arguing that they can paint over the deck which is a composite material instead of replacing.  Of course, that would mean we would have to repaint every two years and since the deck abuts the pool area, the paint would not hold up to the traffic or elements.  Plus it does not fix the ripped boards.  They have yet to agree to do the right thing and replace the deck top that was damaged.
Since the work was finished in the mid-November timeframe, we have been continually trying to work with UBH to try to come to an agreement on over $12,000 of damages they were incurred during the contract work.  In January we discussed the final estimates of the damaged items trying to get final agreement.  In the midst of our continued discussions, they have sent me a threatening notice they are going to turn the outstanding balance out to a collection agency -despite the fact they have already agreed they are responsible for the damages.   At this point, due to the potential impact of their threats to get a collection agent involved, my attorney has had to step in.  Given that this UBH has now taken a course which requires legal involvement, I am providing this review as I hope others will learn from my terrible experience with this firm.  I was hoping UBH would do the right thing but instead they are taking the low road and so I am posting this now to help others avoid this mistake.
As this is an on-going issue - I will update this review should things improve but at this point, I have little confidence that will happen.  I have kept pictures of everything that has occurred and suggest anyone doing renovation work be sure to take pictures every step of the way.  I have had to use these pictures time and again with this difficult party and am very glad I have them to support the issues.  At this point, I can summarize to say I've found UBH very difficult to deal with, unreliable, and unprofessional and left with more than $12k of damages they caused and are now threatening to harm me further with collection agency, I'll have legal fees on top of the already expensive damage.  Think twice before considering this firm.

Jeffrey was responsive during the solicitation process as he provided a quote very quickly and was highly competitive. There was some confusion with the quote because of our understanding of what "trim" entailed on our home compared to what the vernacular of a builder entails. That discrepancy cost us more than was quoted, but it was an honest mistake. I would just recommend that you physically point to all surfaces of the home and reach agreement on the color scheme during the quotation process to avoid confusion if you are not familiar with the technical terms of the surfaces of the home. Aside from that issue, Jeffrey was very communicative and kept me abreast of the progress being made. As with any home improvement project, problems arise and it's important that the contractor brings issues to your attention along with potential solutions so that the issues can be resolved quickly. Jeffrey was good at suggesting solutions to our unique situation. The project was completed a little behind schedule, but I believe this was because Jeffrey was down two employees from when he quoted the job to me and when he started. We a very happy with the quality and workmanship of his work and the professionalism he displayed the entire time. Hopefully the quality will hold up over time!

The rain delayed the end date and when it was all over it was hard to sever the ties!! His work ethic is excellent and it shows in the pride he takes in fixing even the littlest things. He was kind, considerate, prompt, and very personable. His guys were great as well, Tony often stayed later to do the finish work by himself. He took great pride in converting this worn out house into something people would stop and comment about!!! I cannot recommend him highly enough. Wish we could keep him on retainer but we can't!! His price was neither the highest nor the lowest- but he came to the house twice before we contracted with him and he seemed very "genuine" At one point he told us that even if we didn't contract with him this house of ours really needed to have something done!! Very professional, very organized, very respectful . Would recommend him to anyone.

Overall it was a long process mostly related to the weather- John started in December. He also had a setback when one of his employees got injured but was able to find replacement and continue the job. When the old siding was removed there was water damage found. John replaced this before putting up the insulation and new siding. He also installed a new entrance door in the lower level. John returned several times to finish minor projects that needed attention. I am pleased with the results and the house looks great. I will recommend John further.

    Franca Services Inc.
This was the only company that we contacted that we did not find on Angies List. We requested about five other bids and received responses from two other companies. Franca Services were first to respond to our requests. They were pleasant to deal with, very attentive. They gave us a quote. The representative from the company spent about an hour on the phone with me answering questions, so they really took their time with me. We did not choose them because their price was higher than another estimate we received.

The entire project went very well from the estimate through completion. Tony met with me exactly on time to provide me with the estimate. He performed the work on the day promised. He completed all of the tasks exactly as he had described when he gave me the estimate. He cleaned up the site on completion. Tony was very professional and courteous throughout the process. There were no surprises, the final cost was the same as the estimate. The cost was very reasonable for the work done.
