  • Almost a year in since Chris first talked to us after we got our first dog. A year that has been absolutely fantastic in terms of his service and availability and just the most pleasant demeanor around dogs and people. He has been available at short notice and our dog just goes crazy when he sees him!
He is not your typical dog walker - the dogs leave in a van and spend some quality car time with him or other pooches and then the hike around Lake Chauncey - either off or on leash. Sometimes they are goine for almost 4 hours and our dog can barely make it to the food bowl - he is exhausted but in the most "I has sooooo much fun" way!!
I have not come across any other service with home pickup and such an extended socializing/exercise time. Our neighbors have a turn out person come in and they probably spend the same cash as us. And guess whose dog is better socialized?
If you want to come home to a dog that is completely happy - you need to call Chris as your first call!

  • Mocha can't wait to see Chris and his van pull up. He picks her up and she is tired and happy when he brings her home. I work long hours on the days that he takes her out and it gives her a great way to expend that "chocolate lab" energy.  I'm so glad my husband found him.

  • Had an excellent first call with chris and we were set up to start in early December after we got our first pet. His references were impeccable and made me wish if someone would say such nice things about me. Here is what we have come to realize after working with Chris for about a month now.
    - he is super dependable and very responsive via texts (both sides prefer this mode)
    - our dog really enjoys his time with Chris - we see the videos
    - we get reports after every visit and a pic or video (we love both these aspects)
    - he knows dogs and loves dogs and from seeing his interactions with other dogs, they love him back!
Couple of unique aspects - he can provide some overnight boarding in his house and his regular adventure walks get the dogs out of the house for 2-3 hours (inlcluding travel time). great opportunity to socialize your dog and get them dog-tired!! His past work experience may be playing a big role in his people skills as well which are great!
Bottom line - very highly recommend!

  • We have used CPS for pet sitting about a dozen times to date.  It is about $23/visit plus tip but the peace of mind has been worth every penny.  Booking a visit is as simple as an email or phone call after the first time.  The first time either Barb or Aileen pet sits they book a convenient time to come and meet you and your pets.  They communicate clearly and effectively and always respond readily to requests (usually text) for updates on how things are going.  They also walk the house during the visit to make sure everything is okay.  They also will take care of the litter boxes during long trips.
When we get home there is always a long note about how the cats behaved.  It was been quite surprising that the youngest, whom most of our friends don't believe even exists, has befriended both Barb and Aileen.  I had to ask to confirm they didn't have the names mixed up.  They also request that we call, text or email them when we get home so they can be sure we weren't delayed and that the "kids" got taken care of.
They are a both a pleasure to deal with.  If we sent out Christmas cards they would make the list.  It is wonderful to be able to rely on them.
In addition, CPS works out of a brick and mortar store front and Barb used to be a dog officer for the town of Northborough and knows many of the officers.  These facts and the recommendation from our vet were the biggest selling point.  I also looked at an online service, but basically you were paying similar money for someone who was a pet lover or perhaps a vet tech or vet student at best.

  • They are awesome.  They have amazing bedside manners.  We have a cat that we rescued, very kiddish because she had been abused.  The first time when we brought her in because she was always hiding from us, we figured that she would try to crawl her way through us to get away from the vet.  She was just bothered in his fingers.  We went to two of their locations and they were equally professional & capable.  They are very conscientious about the medication and administration.  They wanted to make sure that the blood test is timely, since they kind of work out exactly what the dosage needs to be.  We use them more than we like.

  • We were looking for a "bullet proof dog" - one that was wonderful with kids (3 and 8 yrs old), high enough energy to exhaust the kids playing with her in the yard and yet mellow enough to lie there and be loved, one that is great in the car and and very healthy ... a "perfect" family dog.  We contacted Joy at Broken Tail at the suggestion of a friend.  She was wonderful to work with, and after a nice phone interview (to make sure we were good adopters) we were quickly introduced to a 2-year old yellow lab, rescued from Tennessee and brought into Massachusetts for adoption.  She had just completed her mandatory isolation (two days) and had a full vet check, deworming, spaying, etc.  We met her (Daisy) at a day care center, and thought she would be perfect.  Joy wanted to make sure she would be a good fit for everyone, and so she brought Daisy out to our house a few days later to meet the full family and experience the house.  There was zero pressure, and a total commitment that if anything didn't work out that they would take her back and either find us another dog and/or refund our money.  It was very clear they cared very much about finding the right fit for the dog.

After the adoption, we had several other questions for Joy, and she has been very giving of her time and advice.  And needless to say, we have been overjoyed with Daisy.  She has exceeded our expectations - actually, the biggest problem now is both kids want to sleep with her!  So now we are looking to adopt another rescue dog.

For those people that feel adopting a rescue dog is a higher risk than getting a new puppy - we feel the exact opposite.  With a puppy, you won't know the puppies personality and health for many months to a year.  With a rescue dog from Broken Tail, you can get to know the animal before bringing it into your home, experience the dog in your home with your family and pets, before adopting.  And even then, know that if it doesn't work out that they will lovingly take her back and find her an appropriate home.

We highly recommend Broken Tail and getting a rescue dog.

  • Dr. Mann, the vet that we see there for our cat is the only board-certified feline cat expert in this region. He is the only one that we see there. He is so amazing. He is running tests right now, and he gave the cat medications to try and see if that would work. I'm supposed to follow up again in early September. Everything that he has figured out has been totally just right on the mark. He specializes in cats to the highest degree. We don't waste our time with somebody who doesn't have as much expertise as him. Things are different with him. He is able to pinpoint the problem pretty quickly. He is the one person in the country who is in charge of board certification for other feline vets that want to become board-certified in the country. I have seen a lot of vets, but I have never seen anyone who works with cats the way Dr. Mann does. He totally amazes me at every single visit. I am more than thrilled with him.

  • My wife takes care of the dogs. They don’t need any improvements. They are extremely knowledgeable and extremely caring. They are extremely professional. I would use their services again in the future.

  • Best Care took us for an appt the same day as I called which was awesome. The groomer, Tiffany, greeted the dog and I described how he should be trimmed and she knew exactly what we wanted - she is fantastic! She knew exactly how to handle puppies coming in for their first groom and he came out just as happy as he went in.The puppy had some mats and she removed them, but still made him look like an Airedale. He looks fantastic. The cost was about average from what I have experienced with other Airedales we have had groomed and considering the "extra cleanup" needed, I thought it was pretty reasonable.
