Decks reviews in North Dartmouth

They were the low bidder on the project. But you get what you pay for. There were several delays to the project. It was clear the contractor had other priories over the summer. It took from the beginning of May until the end of September to complete the deck (five full months). The quality of the final project was low. railing spindles are not evenly spaced and out of plane. Blocks were not used where the rail meets the house. The stairs, while within code, are at quite steep despite our request for a gentler slope. I had to have them come back several times to fix gaps in the trim, and many of the deck boards that were loose. The gaps between abutting boards are too wide, and inconsistent, and have resulted in several boards popping up off of the inferior deck clips they used, and causing tripping hazards. The contractor has gone completely dark and will not return emails or calls. The deck is just over a year old and will need to be repaired. DO NOT HIRE.

    Reusch carpenters
Carl started the job by lying to us and saying he had a team of workers. This was false he works alone and because of that I did most of the demo and all the cleanup to try to help move the project along seeing he had no team The job was to replace the old side porch with a new covered porch and replace back deck seeing I did all the demo and clean up I figured it wouldnt take that long boy was I wrong. Carl showed up a couple hours a day and seemed more interested in talking to my wife then working. He would leave for an hour to get lunch come back pack up his tools and leave. a project that should have taken 8 weeks dragged on for 5 months. After patiently watching this I told Carl he had 2 weeks to complete the job or I am hiring someone else to finish it. Carl became very angry and threatening bumping my chest and getting in my face making such a scene my wife and daughter came to see what was happening. Carl continued swearing at me and threatening me saying Ill knock your teeth down your throat you piece of **** you dont pay me your wife does so I dont listen to you I informed Carl that I pay him and Carl was ordered off the property and told not to return. The building inspector was also asked to come out and check his work seeing he told us we didnt need a permit. Im waiting on the inspection so I will update this post after its complete. Like the previous review while working at the job he also had his grandkids dropped off at the job site this seems to be a common practice. Not only did he not complete the job once I reviewed the limited invoices he provided to my wife it was quickly realized he was taking advantage of us. He was charging us for stuff he didnt do and double charging for materials and labor. Carl Reusch is a con artist and cheat and I would never recommend her to anyone I know. If your looking to be conned and taking advantage of then hes your contractor

Steve Rogers is a consummate professional and master craftsman. His work is outstanding and his attention to detail unsurpassed. He is both punctual and professional. His integrity is beyond reproach. I had him on a window replacement and custom finishing job and get compliments from my friends about the quality of the work. Highly recommend.

    STEVENS HOME IMPROVEMENT
Contacted Stevens in March 2008 to replace an existing porch and change out our front door. Two weeks later, contractor came out to survey the site. Was promised estimate in 2 weeks. After several calls, finally received a verbal estimate in six weeks (mid-April). One month later (mid-May) we finally had a face-to-face meeting where a contract was signed, stating the work would be complete mid-June. Mid-July the work was finally started - again after several calls and emails to "motivate" the contractor. The crew disappeared, leaving the work incomplete. In fact, the support columns which held up the roof above the new porch were misaligned and the moulding on top and bottom overlapped the perimeter of the roof and deck - looked horrible. There were several excuses and reschedules that took place over the summer and into autumn. These included: a death in the family, crew car accident, door on back order, door frame low quality-had to be re built, there was a rain storm that took place, scheduling conflict leaving another project unsafe, the carpenter they usually use was not good at doors so they need to schedule their "best carpenter", scheduled the best carpenter, but didn't put it on the production board... It is now mid-October and I have an incomplete porch and still no door. Tired of staying home from work with no shows, no return calls, and seldom returned emails. I just fired the contractor, and am now working to get my $1,800 deposit back. Even after a phone message and email stating they are fired, no response after four days.

    PACHECO GENERAL CARPENTRY
It went very well. They completed the job in about 3 to 4 weeks. They were very polite and professional and built the decks with great workmanship. We have received plenty of compliments.
