    Holmes Pools

Let me start by saying they do a great job of opening pools very neat and tidy that's why I thought I found a gem.  NOT SO. I had a major disaster over the winter, my pool cover fell in not to mention I lost most of the water in my 20 x 40 pool.  I called pretty early in the season to see if this was something they could deal with.  They assured me they could handle this, "no problem"  Wendell was very eager to schedule a pool opening even though I told him this pool could not be open like this. In addition to the pool leaking water thru a fixture that they were supposed to have fixed last season and didn't.  I had to suggest they come out and assess the situation before even attempting to open it, he said he would do that when in the area.  Never came.  Now, I get the call it's time to open.  How the h*** can you fill a pool that is leaking somewhere??????  I have not been in the pool business for 40 years but HELLO?????  I had to call again and nicely suggest someone come.  Low and behold leaking from the light fixture. Now it is going to cost me 1,500.00 to replace the fixture because they mark their parts up 100% not the standard 20-25%.  So because I work in purchasing at a very large Co. I told them I would get the parts and they could do the labor..........didn't like that idea so that is why when I called back for help figuring out how to deal with the mess in the pool the very rude  uninformed lady that answers the phone said they can't do this or that.  Now for the kicker, the job that they wanted to do to replace my light fixture for $1,500.00 I just had done for $125.00 and the only part required was the fixture itself not the laundry list of parts and not to mention they wanted to jack hammer my deck and job would take all day.  I just had this same job completed in 1 hr. Also, you have to call every time and wait until Wendell gets in so that is like 8 or 9 at night.  How about step into the 21st century email, website, voicemail.  You would do yourself a favor and get that nasty woman off the phone.  Let me also mention I am super easy going but that rudeness of that woman put me over the top.  I was only looking for a little help with my pool from a pool Co. Is that too much to ask??????

    Mass Pools
They called me very quickly at first because I sent email from work and I believe they thought it was a job for a big CO. After he found out just a home owner ignored 100% Never answered emails and voicemail full.

The service that Mike and his helper provided was outstanding.  They installed a light fixture for me in an hour and charged only $125.00.  They also threw in a couple of Parts and Pointers for FREE.  They did the same job that another Co. quoted me 4 times the price for.   In addition, they hauled two of my robots back to the shop for service.  It was a nightmare trying to find a Co. that services pool vacuums.  I am very pleased with Family Pool, and their service department is top notch, ALWAYS calls you back.  Stay tuned for a review on the vacuum service because this is a hard to come by me.  Thank you Family Pool I am having my first good pool day this season!!!!

I contacted them about a pool opening and unfortunately for me, they only service below ground pools.  The woman that answered the phone was very nice and recommended another company for me.

    R & R POOL & SPA
After calling several well rated spa repair companies R&R was the first to answer their phone - which was not a surprise given that I was calling the week between two major holidays.
I told the person who answered the phone that the heater died in my hot tub and I wanted a service appointment to get it repaired. I relayed that I diagnosed the failure to the heater since if I turned the set temperature below that of the water both pumps would operate however as soon as the temperature was raised and the heater turned on it would trip the breaker. They agreed that was indicative of heater failure and that the earliest a service tech would be able to arrive was the following week. She also recommended putting a space heater in the equipment compartment to prevent the water from freezing. I was also asked my model of hot tub which I had to call back to tell them.
I was surprised the day they were to arrive that they did not give me a call to give a service window, this was not something they promised but I guess I just expected. When the tech showed up that morning he also diagnosed the failure to the heater but that they did not keep my model of heater in stock. I was again a bit surprised since I had told them my exact year, make and model of tub along with the problem and that they did not order a heater or at least ask if I wanted them to order one that I would have to buy either way since they did not normally stock them.
I received a call back later that same day telling me the cost of the heater, that it would be in within a few days and that they would call me to schedule the appointment for the following week. A week later when I had not heard back from them I called only to find out they were closed for vacation. I later found out the tech was stopping in while they were on vacation looking for the part to come in and it got delayed in shipping. The following week the heater came in and an appointment was scheduled.
The appointment day came, the tech installed the heater only to find it was faulty - obviously this is no fault of theirs. They ordered a new heater and scheduled a follow up appointment for the week after. This final appointment was successful and the hot tub was operational. They did right by me and did not charge me for the second attempt to install the heater.
All said and done R&R did a good job. My suggestions for improvement would be to be a bit more communicative with appointment windows and when a timeline is getting missed as well as giving people a option to buy a part if they are confident in their diagnosis.

Sean P. Brady Carpentry & Home Remodeling
Sean came recommended to me by a colleague. I went online and found a few carpenters so I could compare prices. I was told by one carpenter (whom also came highly recommended) that there was no way he could do the job for under $XX dollars. Sean not only beat the price by $10,000, but he also was able to build an adjoining deck to our home for the price. I was very impressed with the quality of the work. He followed all the very strict city codes and always pointed out the "extra mile" he took to ensure the wood, brackets, nails, etc he used were the best for the job.
At first it was a bit difficult to lock in a committed start date. But once our contract was signed, Sean's work was very professional and punctual. The project went a bit longer than anticipated but we believe it was probably due to the numerous checks the city placed on the contractors. He is very resourceful and his assistants were cordial as well. I trusted Sean with access to our house and he took care in making sure he locked up, etc. each day he finished the job.
I will call Sean again for our next project
