Chimney & Fireplace reviews in North Andover

Superior called to confirm the appointment a day before. Two guys from Superior showed up at the scheduled time. It took them less than two hours to do the work. They had to move some furniture to get at a few duct vents and they put everything back where it had been. The sanitizing spray had a slight odor that my wife objected to but didn't bother me. The smell dissipated within 24 hours or so as the HVAC system was used. I would use Superior again.

Called North American Chimney on 9/28/16 based on the special they had at the time on Angies list for chimney cleaning to ask a few questions. After being told that it would be cheaper to book through them directly, I went ahead with booking to have 2 chimneys cleaned. Today 10/11/16 instead of coming to clean the chimneys, they called to tell me that they confused my town with a similar sounding town and were actually not servicing my area for a few weeks. Well....we went over my address in detail...spelled the name of the town, AND The zip code...they certainly did not confuse anything, they just over booked. What bothers me the most is the lying and deception, I would strongly advise avoiding any dishonest business such as this one.

It went good. But the technician couldn't get it started. To my SURPRISE the owner of Mr. Grill came out the next day and found there were other issues. Fixed the issues and the grill works PERFECT. Thank you Chris at Mr. Grill! Great job! Grill is back to normal. Thanks,

I am very disatisfied with the wood I received. After reading positive reviews online and talking directly to Faustina, the owner, before placing my order, I expected much better. At least 1/4 of the wood that they delivered was scrap pieces, rotted pieces, and very short pieces, and some not even hardwood. Their website states that their wood is "triple-checked and hand stacked" and that they "NEVER" use rotted or scrap wood. Faustina herself told me very convincingly that their wood was "beautiful wood" and superior to any other I could buy elsewhere. She also indicated that it would all be the same length. Many of the pieces I received are so uneven, twisted and knarled that you can barely stack them. When I called to complain, Faustina did not seem to believe me and said she would have to send her husband out to verify that what I reported was true. I left most of the unsatisfactory wood in my driveway for 2 weeks and her husband never came despite several attempts to arrange a time. I purchase wood every year from other vendors and this is by far the worst I have ever gotten and for the highest price. I decided to give Little Brook a try based on advertising that sounded irresistable. I have also cut and split my own wood in the past, so I know what is good and what is not. Shop around and you'll find better wood for less money.

If I could give 5 Star, 10 stars I would gladly do it.  It all started when I got a "cleaning" and a quote for repairs from a competitor.  I have a clay tile chimney stack built in the 60's where some of the mortar between tiles had failed do to old age over the years. The other company claimed that I needed to rip out all the tiles, take out all the drywall, including disturbing my 2 neighbors above me with the same process and then put in a stainless steel liner. The price(less)? $17,000 and it would take weeks to schedule and complete.

I called 5 Star Chimney and had an appointment that day and as others say, Kevin came early.  He thoroughly explained all the elements of my fireplace and had a plan to fix within 3 days for 1/4th the price that included using fiberglass in the mortar to repair the lintel and upper firebox chamber, replacing my flimsy damper to one that now actually has stopped the Twin Peaks chimney howl, a new spark arrestor chimney cap, and a liner so strong he had me jump on it repeatedly.  this guy does not do "good enough" work...he does better than imagined.

5 Stars entire staff is professional, conscientious and only want to produce the best result.  Don't even think about using anyone else!

Two men showed up (just 30 minutes later than scheduled, hence B rating) and were very polite and professional. They completely covered the floor to prevent anything from getting on them from the chimney (new floors, so really appreciated that). They then began the sweeping of the chimney, using different brushes and tools to make sure it was clean and safe to use. The gentleman was kind enough to explain some things to me in regards to proper usage, cleaning, care and simple solutions if any problems arise. We are new to this home and this is our first ever wood burning fireplace so we wanted to be sure we care for it properly to ensure longtime usage. During our discussion, he did let me know that the chimney was extremely filthy and seemed as though it had not been cleaned before. That being said, you wouldn't know any different from how clean the area was when they left. While one man swept the chimney, the other held a vacuum to remove all of the soot. I am very thankful for them and the only reason that I will most likely not use them again is because they drove a little over an hour to get to my home. We are grateful that they were willing to fulfill our Angie's List coupon and come out to care for our chimney. I would absolutely recommend this company to others.

It wasn't great. They wound up putting a cap on the chimney. It seemed like they were really trying to upsell the chimney cap. And then, the type of chimney I have, really didn't need a cleaning. So, I still wound up paying for the service.

The technician was on time.  Was very friendly. Went into the faminly room and cleaned my fireplace and damper area.  Then he went on to the roof and inspected the top and told me that the furnace flue did not need cleaning.  He recommended  a chimney cap which we may put on in the spring.  He explained how the fireplace works, we had never used it before.  Very good experience.

We called this provider on a Saturday afternoon after our kitchen ceiling caved in due to an ice dam leak.  Barbara, the office director, answered the phone immediately and explained that they were very busy but to explain what was going on. I explained and she clearly understood how upset we were with the damage (and continuing damage from water flow).  She personally called Bob---who was on a roof at the time----and got us scheduled.  They were there that same afternoon and Bob and two guys cleared not only the ice dam causing the problem, but a couple they were worried about as well.

We've used Bob in the past----to fix flashing on the roof and fix a chimney----and we knew that he was a good roofer.  He's a good PERSON and owns a good COMPANY too.

    Recommend :)

Repairs came out well.  However, there was mortar wash left in my driveway and mortar remnants were left on the finished part of the chimney on the inside of the house. Price was good, quality was good, however the clean up was terrible.
