    Antonino Land Surveyors, Inc.
Mike was very responsive, provided clear documentation, marked all corners, and walked me through the plan. We originally planned for a full survey but mike gave us a break on price as we didn't need a full survey (just survey consultation) given our specific needs. He is very personable, honest, and we would recommend his services to others.

He was punctual and polite. His work was thorough and he explained everything in addition to giving us a detailed drawing of the property with measurements.

Almost a year later some workers pulled the property line marker out of the ground and Michael come back free of charge to mark the spot for me again.

It truly is a pleasure working with him and I highly recommend his services.

We needed a boundary survey done for our property in Newton prior to fencing it in. We were very pleased with how Tom executed on this request. His quote was very reasonable and when I wanted some revisions to the plans he did the needful in a very timely manner, no questions asked.

While the survey itself seems accurate (i.e., they seem to have put the stakes in reasonable places), the plan they provided was poor quality, the stakes were poor quality, they offer no options for the various stakes (whereas other companies do), they were gruff on the phone and had little interest in answering questions (the plan drawing they provided was clearly not fully accurate, yet they did not want to address the issue). Their price was in the ballpark of others. I selected them because they have a lot of good reviews but I cannot recommend them. If they improved their customer service and offerings, they would be fine.

    Dennis O'Brien Land Surveying
We contacted several companies and this was the best price we found. The work was done in the timeframe we were given. We were very pleased with the men who did the surveying. They answered our questions and took their time showing us where they had placed markers once they were done. When we requested two additional markers (due to the irregular dimensions of our property) they complied right away, even though they'd already put their equipment back in the truck. The plot plan arrived promptly once the on-site work was done. By the way, the price I quoted was before the Angie's List discount coupon was applied.

    VTP ASSOCIATES
We engaged VTP as the result of a recommendation from a local architect. We probably would not use them again, although we have no issues with the quality of work performed and they charged us exactly what they quoted. Initially, they provided the initial site surveys as requested, as promised and on budget. However, during the later phases of the work, they were not as helpful. We considered one of the engineers to be rude and unprofessional during one of the interactions at the project site. When we asked for a mortgage plot plan, we expected that this would be a no-charge item since they had already done the more complex site survey, but they charged us a small $150 fee for it without really explaining the cost for the service. The VTP representative did not show up when promised for the as-built survey, and delayed the construction project 3 to 4 days. At the end, they insisted on cash payment before releasing the report. This requirement was consistent with the agreement, but we had to scramble to get a check to them at the time their (delayed) report was finalized. We were prompt payers, and wish they had been a little more customer focused.

    EVERETT M BROOKS COMPANY
What a disappointment! This company had done a terrific job on a survey for me about 15 years ago, so of course I tried them first. I tried for days before I could get anyone to answer the phone (their website was always down). Then they sent me a wildly inflated estimate (more than three times the proposal I did accept). It included charges for many things you do not need to get a deck building permit in Newton -- and they're a Newton company, so they should know that. As a matter of fact, I'm sure they do -- maybe they were just hoping I didn't?

    John Abagis & Associates
I chose four "well-rated" providers from Angie's List to get quotes. John called back within a few hours, and was offered to come out and give me a quote within the week (which he did.) In our phone conversation, I described a variety of "property line" issues we were having with a neighbor. John alleviated many of my concerns just through our initial discussion because he is SO well versed in many property laws. (I am not advertising him as a lawyer by any means, but he clearly knows his business and has been doing this for a long time.) His quote came in at a very reasonable price compared to the other's I had contacted. (Aside from competitive pricing, he was by far the most professional. One of the guys I called from Angie's list -- actually with the most "votes" -- gave me the creeps. He asked for papers from our closing that no one else asked for?!) John spent about 3 1/2 hours on our property with one of his employees to do the initial survey work, then returned on another date to stake out the property. The actual staking probably took 2 hours. We were pleased with the results, and surprised to see how much more land we actually owned that we initially thought. John gets our vote -- he is professional, competitive, honest, trustworthy, and very knowledgeable.

    ROBER SURVEY / H & R SURVEY
I have not decided what I am going to do yet, but after receiving inflated estimates (including items not required for the permit) from other firms, it was a pleasure (and a relief) to have a straight forward discussion about the work actually required to secure the permit. If I do end up doing business with this company, I would anticipate it being a headache-free experience!
