    Maximum Renovations
Fernando Felisberto and his team at Maximum Renovations are fabulous! They are just finishing up on a complete renovation of my basement. The previous version had its own unique charm with the 50s-era pine paneling and a bar-area that took up the entire width of the room, but it was time to go, as I needed another room to serve as a bedroom. The project involved demo-ing the bar area, framing the room and building walls in the new space where the bar was previously, installing a new window in the new room, building out a closet in the new room (that cleverly hid one of the cement support posts), installing new walls along the rest of the room, building in floor-to-ceiling bookcases to align each side of the fireplace, plastering the walls and ceiling, installing new lighting, wiring the home for fire alarms, painting. It is AMAZING what they have done. The space is completely transformed. Fernando is the boss, and is WONDERFUL in helping to visualize the project. He came by several times to help me consider different options. He provides excellent advice on whether and how one thing or another can be done. He provided two quotes for me to consider, based on different choices regarding the extent of the project and discussed with me at length the pros and cons for each plan. I checked in with some friends experienced in construction and his advice was spot-on. It is evident to me that Fernando loves this work and cares a lot about the end result, no matter the size of the project (or the budget). His team is very hard-working, careful, and courteous, and most importantly, they are excellent craftsmen, who, like Fernando, really care about the end result. Fernando goes the extra mile for sure. Some things you only notice once the work begins. It seems its just part of the process. When this has happened for me, Fernando has been available to discuss and modify as needed. And I should note that this is not the first time I have dealt with Fernando. He and his team did a significant renovation on my kitchen and integration of a back 3-season unusable porch into the living space a few years ago. My satisfaction with the job then made my selection of Fernando a no-brainer. I am extremely happy with the work done and the price for doing it. It is a pleasure to work with Fernando and his team and I highly recommend them for renovation projects both big and small.

    Mal Elfman's Of Waltham Inc
It went extremely well. We had a tight timeline and John Dillon of Mal Elfman was quick to measure our space and send out an estimate. When we increased the amount of work and wanted another color, the people in the store were very helpful. Two men did excellent work on the installation and another man came out to trim the doors. Despite some of our last-minute changes I found the people involved to be professional, courteous and reliable. I would absolutely recommend Mal Elfman and crew for any jobs.

    O'Connell Carpentry and Remodeling
We found Pat O'Connell through Angie's list and are very pleased with the work performed. Pat was very accommodating, direct, and always worked to exceed expectations. Schedules and expectations were always clearly communicated, and he went out of his way to work around our schedules. We will certainly call him again and would recommend him to friends and family.

    One Good Carpenter
This was a very stressful experience for us. We were buying an old house that needed several repair and remodeling projects, and Jeff said that he would take care of us. When he asked me to serve as the general contractor on the job, I had no idea what that meant. He said it was a way for us to save money and that he would coach us through it. Instead, he started work without the proper permit, which caused problems with the building inspectors. He said that he wouldn't charge us for his mistake, but since we were paying by the hour, we ended up paying him extra for him to try to replace the dormer that he had destroyed. In the meanwhile, he started many other projects in our house that he promised he would complete. When he walked off the job, only one closet had been repaired and all the other projects were left unfinished. We had a hole in the roof where the dormer was left uncompleted. He said that he needed the weekend to think about the job, and then he claimed that he had aggravated an old rotator cuff injury and suggested that we hire a handyman to finish the job. Upon further contact with him, he claimed that he had fallen down our steps. He clearly was making up a story to get worker's compensation. We paid him over $15K in time and over $3K in materials only to have one closet finished. When we hired a new contractor, he finished the work for much less money, and he had to redo some of Jeff's faulty work. My only hope is that this review will save others from having to suffer with a carpenter who cannot complete work well nor on time. We learned a lot from this experience and will never hire someone from Angie's List again nor we will hire someone on an hourly basis unless they give us a "not to exceed" price.

    Hourihane Carpentry
We live in a historic district. Lenny created a porch that was an exact replica of the original despite the fact that original wood/dimensions were not available. The historic district was happy with what he created. Lenny is a terrific carpenter and a creative thinker who can solve problems so that you get what you asked for. Looking for a great carpenter, hire Lenny Hourihane.

    THANK YOU HANDYMAN
We had a discussion about the project prior to the date and Bruce provided ideas and a list of materials to purchase prior to his arrival. He worked efficiently and did a great job with the repairs. He clean up after thoroughly.
I recommend Bruce to others who have work to be done around the house.

    Orcutt Painting Co
The entire experience with Rick and his team was very positive.  Right from the beginning, he operated with great precision, including setting up and keeping the initial appointment, providing a detailed and clear estimate, getting the job done as planned, communicating during the job, and quickly handling minor touch-ups at the end.  One part of our job that was most notable was the painting of wood trim that required prep work including sanding and priming.  Rick explained clearly the different options of how this could be done, and how the final outcome could be better if we used a oil-based primer rather than a fast drying Kilz.  We went with the oil-based primer even though this added some time to the job, and we're happy that we did, because the outcome looks very good.  When we have future painting needs, we will think first of Orcutt painting.

    Britton Homes LLC
This was a very big project, and Britton Homes managed everything with great care, professionalism, attention to every detail. The owner, Jim Britton, was always available and responsive to every question or change of plan. When some problems arose Jim was quick to resolve them efficiently. The entire crew working with him is just as professionaL, The project manager, Jason, is very thorough, thoughtful and responsive. The carpenter ,Ryan, is truly  talented, building bookshelves in my living room from a photo, making them look as if they had always been there. The electricians, plumbers, painters are top notch. My home was left in perfect condition each day, and the final result is more than everything I had hoped.
I would recommend Britton Homes without hesitation!
