SGH secured bids for painting services which were reviewed at the meeting -- we will move forward after SGH gets clarification for us on several points in the bid. We also accepted the proposal for a new pump and will receive information on pest control service options. Over the last year, SGH worked with the owners to secure tree removal services (so we were protected during the storms this winter), get a contractor to replace the roofs on the lower 3 units, and got us an energy audit. The main value SGH has provided is that our condo association now has a managed program for sequencing necessary repairs and building up a fund to cover expenses. We are not large enough to have a permanent property manager resident in the building. So before SGH, we dealt with issues only when there was an emergency situation. Now, SGH is very responsive when issues arise, but also has led us to a program where we are taking necessary preventive and ongoing maintenance activities. Wendy is a total professional and the SGH connection is a benefit to the property owners. There is an on-line portal for payment of fees and transparency which was lacking before on the financial situation. We are pleased that we have entered into this relationship.

Elizabeth has helped me tremendously with interviewing and public speaking and the results came quite fast! She has helped me to gain more body and mind awareness, which has not only empowered me to respond better to stressful situations like interviews and public talks, but has also improved the quality of my interactions with friends and family. Being a physician who is around a lot of caring individuals, I can say without any hesitation that she is one of the most empathetic individuals I have ever met. Elizabeth, thank you so much for everything!

Called Doms Demo from Craigslist and Bill came over. We negotiated a looooow price of 700$. Bill said they would finish in one day. I was very skeptical. I was looking to do myself and dumpster alone would have been 500$. Two strong guys came Friday morning and worked like madmen all day (with no lunch) and cleared it all out, cleaned up and TOOK THE mess away. They were polite and friendly and I am thrilled. I am having them come over this Sat to rip out sub-floors in two rooms for 300$ (this job only includes labor not dumping). There are two layers of subfloor with concrete and wire mesh on half. He says his guys will do it in one day and now I believe him. These guys are a blessing! Cheap, fast and friendly!!

Arrow was asked to give us a copy of the QuickBooks database monthly, we had to ask and ask for it, and only received a copy about once every three months. Although we asked for a final copy, we never received it. Basically they were paid for a full month of service that we have not proof they did. They also locked all data entered before 2008 and still have not given us a valid password. Worse, going back to November 2009 copy we received from them, we started reviewing the data for year end taxes and found errors that were made deliberately out of laziness. Both checking accounts were off balance. They both had negative amounts (less in QuickBooks that was actually in the bank), one in the hundreds, the other in the thousands. the customer accounts were not in balance. We are spending hours trying to balance the account so we can turn our balance into the account. The following errors were found: 1) Invoices missing, or the same invoice entered 2 or 3 times to get a total they wanted. 2) Payments from a customer would be applied to a customer that left our servers several years ago, using the general ledger with a note that said 'income added to balance monthly income". This was done so they could account for the income without having to take the time to find out which customer actually paid. 3) Bank credit card deposits were posted using the wrong account. For example, they had $300 of American Express payments to deposit and instead of applying it to the correct account, they just applied it to any account that owed money. If it was not an exact amount, they made up a bank fee to balance it. 4) Monthly income was often grouped together and deposited to the bank. It would be noted on the wrong day and applied to the wrong account. There is more. Most all of the damage was done in the last 14 months that we had them working for us. Arrow Bookkeeping was hired by us because they are QuickBooks certified. Do not hire them. Their work is beyond sloppy. They will use the general ledger to add information to get to the numbers they want. They are beyond sloppy and it will take us months to undo the damage they have done.

Siraco's store is no longer open to the public, they contract with a Hardware in Somerville to handle pickups and drop-offs at noon on Tuesday and Friday. They also will do same day sharpening in their truck occasionally on Saturdays at a farmer's market. Current information can be had at their web site, or by calling them. We met them at their truck. They expedited our order, charged very reasonable prices, were very friendly, and the knives are all repaired and very sharp. Only strange thing was we created paper sleeves for the knives which we handed to them, and they returned the knives in old newsprint.

My chimney cleaning service man could not repair or adjust my broken chimney cap. He could not find a replacement or any help from his suppliers. Neither could I find a replacement! I took the broken chimney cap to Central Welding. George, the owner, looked at it and suggested how he would repair it. A month later, I picked up my repaired chimney cap. I called my chimney cleaning service who came out and re-installed the cap. As of today, it has remained on the roof. My thanks to George who took on this pain in the rear project for me.

After contacting Eddie at Mayflower Stationers, I was informed that the refills are no longer available. If I would be patient, Eddie would contact the manufacturer. In two weeks, we received one dozen refills. Now that's service. Sometimes it pays to deal with a small company!

I was told by Steve that there would be a $50.00 pick-up and estimate charge. I agreed and was quoted $325.00 to repair my Sony TV. My TV was delivered and all the connections were attached. I was given a bill for $400.00-$25.00 more than quoted... The next day I noticed that the TV wasn't placed properly on my stand and the rear board to cover the wires was not connected properly. I fixed both! The TV is working well.
