Hvac Repair reviews in Newton Upper Falls

The Sila technician, Guy, came to our home and greeted us warmly and described what he was going to do. As an extra thumbs-up, we happen to not wear shoes in our house, and he was ready to cover his shoes with booties to ensure that he wouldn't track in any dirt! The inspection went quickly and smoothy and he efficiently summarized what he did before he left. All in all, a great job with great customer service!

It was a followup from the installation. It didn't cost me anything. They're just really great. We really like them. I would recommend them to a friend. I would recommend them to an enemy. It's good to be nice. They are reliable, dependable, and professional. They were here for about an hour and a half. They didn't really need to clean up, but they've always cleaned up really well. He's a nice guy. They have very good communication.

Sila sent John Gulstrom, a very knowledgeable and professional technician out. John has worked on my steam boiler system as well as my high-velocity A/C before. John was cognizant of the time he arrived on site and advised that the first 15 minutes cost $89, and the next half hour would be $90. John was very conscientious and quickly explained what was likely occurring. He laid out my options quickly, from the least expensive (try to oil the pump) to the most expensive (replace the pump). He also explained that the type of circulator pump attached is really intended to run under much higher pressure, which actually maintains the pump. But since my residential system will never run at such high pressure, these pumps can fail and have short lifespans. In any case, I opted to purchase the recommended oil and lubricate the existing pump. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to replace it. But I appreciate John's knowledge of the system parts and explaining my options upfront.

It is great. They were prompt, thorough and clean, completed the job in the time they said. They have responded to all of our questions thoroughly. It is a new type of system to us and they have explained and responded to all of our concerns.

Bob was very responsive in sending someone out for the job. Unfortunately, the person he sent out, named Bruce, did not provide satisfactory service (this is not Bob's son, who we liked from a previous job, and Bruce claims he is now the only one who works with Bob - more on this below).
First, Bruce was rude and unprofessional - my wife asked him some questions about what he doing, and he got so exasperated at her, frequently rolling his eyes and sighing, and finally rudely cutting her off and saying that she should just let him work and he would tell her what he did afterwards (apparently he was taking some measurements and couldn't keep track of his numbers and answer her questions at the same time, and he wasn't speaking in lay-person's terms, which only compounded the situation). As homeowners, we should be informed of what's going to be done to our home before the work gets started. It got so bad that my wife asked if she should call Bob to send someone else. Bruce responded that there is only him and Bob.  Which, if true, is unfortunate because a few years ago Bob and his son did a minor job at our place and we liked them, and even recommended them to others. Never again.
Second, Bruce never figured out the source of the problem, despite spending 2.5 hours (!) doing what he described above. He made some recommendations about unrelated matters like the brand of flappers we have in our toilets, and noticed that a toilet wobbled ever so slightly (but wasn't the source of the leak).  He also thinks that water must drip down directly from its origin (remember those ever-important measurements he was making?) - he measured the location of the water lines in our ceiling, and found that they lined up with the edge of our shower stall, and concluded that the water getting out of the shower was causing the leak. Now, we do have an open shower, but the amount of water that splashes out is pretty trivial (a glistening on the tiles, never any standing water).
Anyway, he eventually left without doing anything besides clearing our shower drain and this cost us $350. Not only that, but then I had to call another plumber (Greg Vaughan Plumbing and Heating) and he, in less than an hour, found the source of the leak, fixed it, AND properly seated and sealed around the wobbly toilet, all for a reasonable $131 thanks to an Angie's List coupon.

My air conditioner compressor went out in the middle of the night while we were in the middle of a 3 day 95 degree heat wave. I called about 3 HVAC companies hoping to get someone to come and fix it same day. Elite mechanical was the only company that responded right away. They even tried to walk me through fixing it over the phone. After that failed, they sent a guy out right away and it was fixed same day within an hour. I can't thank these guys enough! Got me through a worst case scenario with very little pain.

Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable. In short, excellent service all around. A family run business. I got competing bids for an initial large job (boiler replacement, conversion from oil to gas), and they were competitively priced. I have been very happy with Gallinelli and will continue to use them for all my plumbing/heating.

Ryan Love was the technician that ARS sent out.  He arrived within the scheduled window and was very friendly and knowledgeable.  He quickly found the problem and fixed it (insulation fell into the blower motor causing the unit to overheat and shut off), but still did a full inspection of the unit to make sure there were no other safety issues.  He pointed out a hairline crack on the heat exchanger (which I would have never noticed, but it was there), and explained what this meant, but did not push me into any costly repairs.  Excellent service and great price.  I found my new go-to heating company.
Just for the sake of comparison, I called two other places, but neither one was as responsive as ARS.

They are really good. They were responsive to an emergency that I had at a rental property. They responded through email and then one technician came out to service that emergency. Their follow up to the emergency resulted in a separate charge, but it was a reasonably priced.

Joe explained various options (models, efficiency rating, attic vs. cellar installation, etc.) thoroughly, promptly followed through on my follow-up questions, and prepared a detailed & accurate quote. He measured the size of the house and cold-air returns to ensure the system was sized properly. He is a patient guy & very pleasant to work with. Scheduling the installation was painless, the installers (Steve and his assistant Derek) started on time, and worked diligently & efficiently.
Everyone is very experienced and knowledgeable, and all clearly take pride in their work. They kept in excellent communication with me throughout the installation. They were respectful of my home, my concerns, my pets, etc.
They stand by what they sell, too. This winter, about 18 months after it was installed, my tankless hot water heater had a factory defect that caused it to shut off. Steve came the day I reported the problem, was on the phone with the manufacturer for hours to diagnose the issue, and came back twice more to finish the repair (3 visits might sound absurd, but it wasn't Airco's problem, it was the manufacturer's, as they were misdiagnosing the issue). The unit is now working perfectly thanks to Steve's persistence. A bonus: Airco charged me for only a small portion of Steve's time from his initial visit. They ate the cost of his additional visits! These guys are golden.
