  • He dismantled the old closet and made a new one on an other wall. There are beautiful shelves inside the new closet. The doors are nicely painted. He also made a shelf between the new closet and the wall where the old closet was attached. So, no space of the room is wasted. He also painted the entire the room. Waldir is a hard working man. He finishes late and works in the weekend. That makes the project finished in around 1 week. Great progress!

  • It was not so great. I paid for 2 hours. He came and was really fast. He was here about an hour and took off. I just was not thrilled. The work he did was ok.

He said well I'll come back and leave my card. I said I paid for 2 hours, you only gave an hour. He said well that's all the work you had and he took off. He left me feeling like he put one over on me. Let me put it that way.

The work he did was great. I can't even see where he did the painting piece. It's just that he left me feeling like I got tricked or something.

Had he come back and said I only did an hour is there anything else I could do for you, instead of sort of laughing at me which is how I felt, I would have used him again. In fact I said you did really good work and I need a new handyman. He said "Oh I don't have any cards but I'll bring one by." Which he never did. I would have used him again, but I won't.

  • I'd heard nothing by July 16th so I left voice mail. Administrator replied via Angie's List messaging, said Mack was on vacation, but would see, after he returned, if we could schedule something soon.
It's now October 20th. If the job was too small I wish he's just said so. I'm moving on.
Why a D instead of an F? In person, Mack was a pleasant guy. Unfortunately that isn't enough. I'm disappointed it didn't work out.

  • Overall my experience with Mr. Handyman was positive. I placed an inquiry online on their website, and Marisa responded quickly by phone and we arranged for Joe (the owner) to come assess the jobs on site.
Joe was very responsive, friendly and professional. He was easy to communicate with by email and phone to coordinate appointments. My only criticism is that he seemed to forget things (i.e., some parts of the job we discussed did not make it into the estimate; I had to remind him of an item that was on the estimate but which he had forgotten; and then a separate item listed in the estimate was not completed initially).  To his credit, when I pointed out what was not completed, he later sent a tech to finish the job at no additional cost.

  • Water damage in floor and cabinet under sink had caused facade to droop and block the dishwasher. Jeff made a new cabinet and replaced flooring supports. He fixed the dishwasher wiring, added a switch box, and brought it up to code. Excellent work! it looks better than before the water damage.

  • Took two days to return my call. Said he'd call me back to confirm when he could come for an estimate and never called back. This guy obviously doesn't need your money. Why waste your time calling him?

  • It went well.  It was a challenging project.  He warned me he would only come on rainy days so with all the rain we have had recently the work bot done pretty fast.  I think I got a fair price but it is difficult to know for sure since I changed the project over time.  Dermot discussed issues with me and we decided things together.  I trust him and would hire hime again.

  • We purchased 4 hours of handyman time from the Angie's List Big Deal.  Alex of Extreme Company came to review the work and the materials we had purchased; he made several great suggestions for modifications of the original plan.  He was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.  We had some trouble scheduling the work because of our tight time frame and his busy schedule, but Alex made it work.  They arrived on time and finished the work early.  It looks great!  We will defintely be hiring Extreme Company again for more work around the house.
  • Michael and his cousin came over and spent over an hour examining an describing the best solution. They raised the beam and joined the floor joists to the side of it instead of on top of it, giving us over 12 inches of head room AND because they jacked up structural beam level, they resolved the large bow in our second floor that JJ Gauvain had introduced. They added supports in basement making sure it was safe. They were polite, quick, cleaned up at end of the day and did EXACTLY what they said they would and more. After dealing with two sleazy contractors before them, it was a joy to work with professionals who had integrity and pride in their work. They completed the job in 3 days and gave us multiple followup calls making sure we are happy with the work. We spend a hundred or two more for these guys, but if we had hired them at the start it would have saved us thousands in repairs needed to fix the damage the other contractors had done. I will recommend these guys to all my friends and family (and already have).

  • Home Loose Ends' final bill was $300 more than their original quote said. They were telling me that they needed to go to the city to get a permit for the job and that is why it is much more expensive. Had he told me that he was going to do this and charge me for it then I would not have hired him, he chose not to tell me about the permit. They did respond very quickly and were very nice but to charge me $300 more after the job is finally done is not fair. He did tell me he needed to get approval from the city but never told me that that approval would cost me money.
