  • Excellent. Linda came to our house to give us a quote. She offered several options, something none of the other people did. She was willing to work with our contractor. Again, very helpful and flexible. Work was done on time and result as promised. The crew was professional and efficient.

  • Dennis was great from the very start....he returned my initial phone call within an hour which was impressive. He advised when he could come out to quote the job and he arrived on time. I received a quote back within a day and the price was very fair and competitive. He wanted no money until the job was completed. We had a lot of bad weather in May and June and he was in constant communication with me about delays and the planned date for my job.....much appreciated! The job was done quickly and professionally and I am very happy with it. He also fixed a small problem in my neighbor's driveway with the extra asphalt he had left over....they later hired him to come back and seal their entire driveway. My next door neighbor loved the job and wanted to hire him as well.

  • Asphalt Engineering did a wonderful job in every way. From the initial consultation and estimate, to the scheduling of the work, to the removal and final installation of the driveway, the company's employees and crews were thoroughly professional, friendly and considerate, and clearly highly skilled in the jobs they do. The cost of the job was higher than other estimates that I received, but the quality of the work and the overall experience clearly demonstrated that it was well worth it. This is truly a case of you get what you pay for. I would use Asphalt Engineering again without hesitation.

  • After getting numerous driveway replacement quotes from many companies, I called Reading Asphalt for one more.  Tony arrived on time, was easy to deal with, didn't oversell, but made it clear what was necessary to do the job correctly due to the pitch of our driveway. Scheduling was easy and the office staff was very pleasant to work with as well. They said they would start at 1pm and they arrived a little early and with in a few hours the old drive was gone, all the prep work was done and the new drain was installed. They were very clean and very aware of impacting the neighborhood properties. The next day they showed up in force and half a day later they were gone. They took great care in making the pitch work perfectly with both the drain and the street. The driveway is beautiful, the yard and surrounding properties, including the street were spotless.  This morning they returned to seal coat the driveway and once again it was painless.  They showed up when they were scheduled, in and out in an hour, polite, friendly crew, totally clean site when they left and a professional job.
I would highly recommend them for your asphalt needs.

  • there were a few issues I raised concerning removal of material that was dug up for the driveway and crushed rock and blacktop dumped in the garden next to the driveway. these problems were quickly remedied when I brought them to Mike's attention. All in all the job went very smoothly and quickly.

  • I called a few different companies and I either didnt get a call back or the ones that came out to give me an estimate were much higher. Primo was quick on getting back to me and was right on time for the appointment. I decided to use Primo because, they have been in the business for over 30 years and it was a family run business. They arrived at 9 am and finished at 4pm.The owner himself was at the jobsite the entire time. They were in and out in one day and left the site spotless. They will be back in a month or so to seal the driveway. I would definitely refer them and use them again. Little did I know, after the fact, a friend had used them 8 years ago and also raved about them.

  • The easiest contractor I've ever dealt with for anything. Barely had to spend any time explaining what we wanted, very efficient and showed up when he said, did the job, no hassles. I would definitely use again (but would hover over them more so that I could get perfection).

  • After agreeing in great detail, orally and in writing with drawings, on the work to be done, very little went according to plan. At the time I was not an AngiesList member, but when I recently saw the following on Lamacchia's website -- "Joe and his crew were recognized as number one in customer service in 2005 by Angie's List" -- I decided to report on my experience in 2004. The following were done well and as planned: both the patio and cherry tree retaining walls, and the bluestone resetting. However, the initial repaving of the driveway produced a serious grade toward the house causing rainwater to flow into the front entryway and against the foundation even more so than originally, which was exactly the opposite of what we planned. This was redone in part resulting in a flat grade, which while better was still not what we agreed upon. The installed driveway drain was only one half the agreed upon length, and this was not corrected, despite multiple requests. When the additional supporting columns were constructed for the deck, one column was placed well out to the side of the deck rather than underneath it. I pointed this out immediately, when only the concrete footing had been poured, and asked that it be redone as contracted. They refused and simply left, saying they would not return. After additional conversations, they said they would return and complete the work. However, they did not move the column, and they actually placed the new joist in such a way that it extends well out beyond the side of the deck. In the process they cut away a large area of the intricate woodwork that was part of the fence around the deck, and they refused to repair it. At this point I again asked them to do the work as contracted, and they left for good. They did not repair the yard where they had excavated for the dry well and to build the patio retaining wall, even though the signed contract required them to do so. They left a very large tract of ground [about 25 feet by 80 feet] with the lawn thoroughly destroyed. This was the worst experience I have ever had with any service provider.

  • They were very good. They had a little trouble with the sub-contractor and it took a little longer than expected. They did eventually put in the walk and then there was a problem and they did come back to fix it. They did a nice job and they were more than reasonably priced. We are going to be doing some more work this summer and will have them come out to give us a quote.

  • (03/29/2010) We haven't had any work done but we have signed an agreement for them to do the driveway. They were timely and punctual. They returned phone calls in a timely manner. They were good about subsequent follow up questions and provided some references. So far it has been good. UPDATE (05/05/2010) I called Vincent and he responded to my inquiry in a timely manner. He came out to look at the job site, arriving on time as appointed, and gave us an itemized estimate for both components of the job. We did get a couple of other quotes, as well as compared his quote to two other we obtained for the similar work about 4 years ago, and his overall price was the best we received. Throughout the process, he always responded in a professional manner to all our subsequent inquiries (requests for references, additional details, etc ...), and we never waited an unreasonable period of time. Many contractors will not return a call, yet Vincent never failed to return any one of our inquiries in a timely manner. In short, he always kept us apprised of the status of the project, always showed up with the crew as "part of the crew", and genuinely seemed to care about the quality and craftsmanship of the job and the experience (I say this because I was actually on-site for the last half or the first afternoon, and saw him working the roller and asking the crew to clean up and finish the day ... leaving things with a nice clean appearance). He said that he would show up at 8:30 am the next day and finish the top-coat, and that is exactly what happened. Frankly, I was impressed with the degree of hands-on oversight as well as the attention to detail, and his crew seemed helpful, competent, and well-informed.
