  • They responded to my request promptly and sent me multiple text messages confirming and reminding me of our appointment. I also received a message the day of when they were 15 min away. They arrived during the allotted time frame. They were very nice and professional and clean. I will absolutely use them again.

  • He was quite prompt in responding to my initial inquiry about his service, as well as his follow-up visit at my home to complete the repair.  He satisfactorily completed the task at a reasonable price.

  • They confirmed that I had a serious problem with my chimney lining. Explained thoroughly, showed me photos, gave me a fair price, and did all the work that day. Credited my Angie's List coupon to the finished work.

  • I called Master Chimney Sweepers to get an estimate on repointing my chimney.  Matt came by to look it over and quoted a price then and there.  He also explained that the entire chimney did not need to be repointed and that he would do from the roof line up.
I checked with a couple of other companies to see what they said and one said the entire chimney should be done and it would cost almost double what Master quoted.  The third company I called asked me to email photographs of the chimney and he'll take a look at it.  (Quite frankly, this is not the way to do an estimate.)  I didn't need to worry since this company never got back to me.
I let Master know I wanted them to do the work.  Matt came out on the scheduled day, right on time, and got to work.  He spread a tarp on the roof and cleaned up afterwards.  He even hosed off the roof when finished.  He did  a great job.  The next day, looking at the completed work with binoculars, I thought I saw some gaps between the bricks.  I called the office and asked them to get Matt to call me back, which he did the next morning.  He explained that what I was looking at was a metal brace inserted through the chimney to secure it to the side of the house.  I'm  very happy with his work and the responsiveness of the company.

  • Job went well overall and the roof looks good.  They were responsive and punctual giving a competitively priced quote.  I had just purchased the house and the roof was leaking so they were really good about moving me up on their schedule and getting the roof on ahead of a snow storm.  Because it gets dark early in December, they worked with flashlights on the roof on a very cold evening until 7pm putting the shingles on and then came back a couple days later to finish up after the storm.  I'm grateful for that, but I gave a "C" for professionalism due to their poor follow-up with clean-up after the installation.  They left materials and nails laying around for weeks after the installation despite a couple calls and e-mails to them.  The snow had melted by then, and they certainly had the opportunity to clean up so that's my only complaint.  Other than that, I would recommend them and would certainly use them again.

  • Excellent, Bob was easy to reach, told me that he'd be in contact in a few days and would do his best to get me on his schedule. I waited +/- 3 days as he said and we set up delivery for the next day. They showed up on time, stacked it in 25 minutes, and it was the most orderly stacking job I have ever seen too!

  • It went very well from the start. The phone was answered by a person and appointments for estimate and for work to be done were set up easily. This company was not the lowest estimate, but because of the professionalism exhibited I felt it was worth it to pay a little more. We had many repair projects to do related to winter storm damage. The masonry work was not related to the winter damage but there were so many other things to do I'm glad I chose Bautista masonry for making life easier doing the walkway in such a satisfactory and professional manner.

  • Very, very pleased with John Darling and his crew. He came out twice to establish, then refine the proposal, which was competitive. He's very easy to communicate with, explains very nicely what he's planning to do and why, shows pictures of projects he's done, suggested pavers we might like (and actually chose!), etc. Under his and his brother's expert guidance, we now have our old patio redone and connected to an extension section -- something we hadn't even thought of until they came along and suggested it. And now it's done and looks very nice! We're most pleased. He and his brother lead the crew, and they're very professional and dedicated. I'm hoping of course that the masonry work around the house is taken care of now for years to come... but if I ever needed masonry services again, I'd go straight back to JD Masonry for sure. Thank you John & crew!

  • 5 stars! Excellent.
Sprague sent a senior adviser.  He was prompt,  which impressed us, we did not have to wait. He covered all of our concerns- very knowledgeable, experienced.   we were able to get clear feedback and answers for our problems with the roof and chimney I will definitely work with this company in the future, they cover every detail, every angle, are prompt, knowledgeable, responsible.

  • Good job for what was done, but BIG MISUNDERSTANDING that company did not acknowledge.  I called for an estimate  in the first place because when we used the fireplace,  smoke and a weird smell emanated.   The smell lasted for days after the fire was out.

With all the work that needed to be done, I assumed that it would take care of the smell.  But the first fire in early November brought smoke into the house and the  weird smell again.

The owner, Peter came to address my concern. He explained that the type of fireplace/chimney was a very bad design. Being built on the outside wall, the chimney was too cold to conduct the smoke upwards.  Also, the rest of the house was bigger, and caused some sort of air pressure patterns which make the smoke  go into the house.

Peter said that this type of fireplace should not be used unless it is frigidly cold outside.

One possible solution, he suggested, is Installing an electric fan to draw the smoke upwards.   Cost would be over 2 thousand dollars.

He did not  take any responsibility for the misunderstanding. He did offer to take a couple hundred dollars off of the cost of installing a fan.

I would have liked to know from the beginning about the bad design of my sunroom chimney.  That way I could have considered other options, such as making it a decorative piece or converting it to something other than for actual wood-burning.
