Do Tire Patches Work?

Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Newton Highlands

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Everything was great. They took me without an appointment, processed my request quickly, finished the job quickly, and didn't try to sell me anything more than what I came for. The staff was professional and courteous, and the facility (including the waiting room) was clean and comfortable.

  • We had a flat tire on an old 1997 caravan. This auto service was very close; it was a couple minutes away.
There was a puncture on the inner side wall of the tire, so the tire could not be repaired.

I walked to the auto service in hopes of getting a tire patch kit. I talked to Joe, who informed me that there would be nowhere nearby to find one, and are a bad idea anyways as they are dangerous for the person who performs the tire change (sometimes the tires explode).

So, we used other cars for the day, and brought the car in for repair. Joe gave me a time and cost estimate on the tire change, and told me to call him the next day. I let him know that this was an old car and didn't need anything fancy, and he told me that he would perform the bare minimum. It cost ~$122, including around $7 tax , $3.50 recycling fee, and the cost of the tire.
The next day I called and he let me know that the tire change was finished, and we went to pick it up.
Joe is very pleasant to talk to and seemed generally honest and professional.

  • It was perfect. Someone else told me that I needed a break job and wanted to charge me a lot of money for it, so he assessed my breaks. I have used him for probably 10 years, he's totally trustworthy. He is always very honest and no matter what I can trust him. His prices are always good. His work is of the highest quality. When he says he will do a job, he will do it and does it quickly.

  • The independent mechanic I usually use suggested an alignment and new tires but he doesn't have alignment equipment. So, next time the car was due for an oil change, I took it to Direct Tire which I'd see a lot of ads for and does all three things. The good news is that they did what they said they would, and even provided a loaner car and a 10% discount as a WGBH member. The bad news was that they tried to up sell everything; I got great tires probably better than I needed, and they tried to up sell me on a special type of oil for the oil change, and on getting scheduled maintenance done that I'd had done last time the care was at my regular mechanic (and I had to decline this twice). I don't dispute the quality of their work, but I'd prefer a mechanic who I can trust than when he suggests something, it's actually needed to maintain my car to manufacturer specifications.

  • They were really fantastic. Overall, they're an A+. Responsiveness was great. They were really, really outstanding. They went out of their way in every possible aspect of their service.

  • I have taken my cars here for 10 years. They do everything for me. They are wonderful and accommodating. They do such good preventative maintenance that all three cars run excellently.
