Woodworking reviews in Milton

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We had previously hired Jeff Veglia Remodeling for our 3,200 sq. ft. home's gut renovation (4 bedroom, 3, bath, kitchen, new windows, high efficiency furnace, hot water heater, high velocity A/C, modernization of the floor plan, wall reconfiguration, tile, flooring, paint, etc.) and we were extremely satisfied with the price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism of Jeff and his entire team. So when looking to completely renovate our basement into a comfortable modern living space, we didn't hesitate in our contractor selection process. The basement’s existing conditions included an uneven concrete slab floor with drafty and damp field stone walls and many legacy pipes and electrical conduits to address. There was also an existing working field stone fireplace that we wanted to preserve but it was in dire need of an update. We wanted to create a mud room while creating a play space for both children and adults alike. Jeff immediately had ideas on how we could capitalize on the existing configuration while also assuring a dry and comfortable space for all seasons. While keeping our budget in mind Jeff's team doesn’t cut corners on what the job requires. They spray foamed the exterior field stone foundation walls, framed, sheet rocked and took the extra step of plastering for a superior finished look on the walls. The floors were leveled and laid with high quality wood grained porcelain tiles. The flooring provides the look of real wood but has the high traffic durability and moisture resilience of porcelain. It's a perfect solution for a basement environment. We rebuilt the original and very worn pine staircase with red oak. It was also widened with a staggered wall detail for an open modern architectural look. The fireplace was stripped and acid washed and the mortar work redone. We added a new absolute black honed granite mantle and hearth which gives it a clean contemporary look while still respecting the original fireplace stone work dating from the 1920’s. The recessed lighting is all warm dimmable LEDs and the heat is a European Buderus radiator system which provides extremely efficient and ambient heat throughout. Elvis, Jeff’s righthand man on site and finishing Carpenter (and all around rock star) worked with our ideas and paper napkin drawings making them a reality. He built detailed and functional built in shelving and benches for both the main room and the mudroom. In summary, there are a lot of contractors out there. But do yourself a favor and hire a known quantity who has the experience and the resources to back it up. Jeff Veglia Remodeling delivers on the promise. In fact, we were so confident in Jeff Veglia Remodeling ability that we recommended him to two close friends of ours who ultimately hired him. I suspect you’ll be seeing very similar reviews to this one from our friends soon.

  • Rob is great-- very thoughtful and methodical about his work. He takes pride in everything he does, and he's very careful to do the job the best way possible. He pays great attention to detail, which is great. We're now regular clients and call him for many different items to fix in the home. If he doesn't know how to do something he will look it up, and come back with a variety of different options. In addition, he is fair in his pricing, and just a nice person to be around generally.

  • Chris Carroll was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He obtained a building permit within a week of accepting the job and was on site 5-6 days a week for 8 hours or more each day. With his team of 2-3 others, he personally oversaw every detail and frequently consulted with us to make sure that the work was done to our specification. Treating our job as if he were remodeling his own house, he also gave us many creative and helpful suggestions that improved upon the architect's original plan. Chris is honest, communicative, fair in pricing, timely in completing stages of the work for inspections, neat, and was mindful of our children's safety while the job was in progress. We felt very fortunate to have found Chris through a friend's recommendation, and the room turned out absolutely beautiful--even better than we envisioned it. Chris's expertise in carpentry and his pride in maintaining continuity with the original home inspired a bead board motif throughout the space within the ceiling to floor shelving, mudroom bench, and mission style radiator cover. The colonial windows' deep ledges with beautiful moldings were consistent with our original downstairs architecture. His estimate for the job was significantly lower than the other two estimates we obtained, and he came in on budget. We look forward to his starting on our next project and certainly will hire him for any future projects, as well as highly recommend him to any of our friends.

  • Chris Carroll and his team did a terrific job. He worked closely with us every step of the way to ensure that the project came out the way we wanted, and he was so helpful in offering opinions and ideas throughout the process. Detail oriented, Chris turned our project into a wonderful family space and added his own unique craftsmanship to the room through his woodworking expertise. He was timely and professional. We look forward to working with him again!

  • My experience with the Rhino Shield team was great! From the Manager, Kevin B., to Alfeldo M. the foreman, and the all the workers, their professionalism and care in which they took care of my house was appreciated. The costs were transparent and explained and they completed all promised tasks. The time and effort used in preparing the house was detailed and they repaired/replaced shingles and trim that was rotted. The finished house is amazing and neighbors keep stopping and commenting on how beautiful it looks. Great job and experience, thank you Rhino Shield!!!

  • It went very well. Workers arrived on time, did an excellent job and cleaned up properly. After repairing porch they continued other needed work until I ran out of supplies. I asked for a business card and would call Antoniel for future home repairs or painting.

  • Idea Painting painted the entire interior of my home. Roughly 3200 sq feet. All the trim, doors, walls and ceiling were painted well. They have an excellent reputation in the town i live in, plus their reviews are impeccable. These guys are the real deal. Very committed to a quality work. The also painted a section of my exterior to top it all off. Exceeded my expectations.

  • Our 1920’s home is 3,100 square feet and required significant renovations to meet our modern lifestyle. My wife and I are in the design business [*** Link removed ***] so we’re very particular about the design and quality of the work to be preformed in our home. I have also renovated several homes, I’m pretty handy myself and have a fair amount of contracting knowledge. So I know what what to expect, how the work should be performed and the costs associated with it. We interviewed six highly rated contractors in a highly vetted and competitive bid process. Jeff set himself apart with his reviews on a number of highly reputable sites (including this one), home owner references (of which there are many) and team (plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, finishing carpenters, plasterers, masons, suppliers, etc.). His team of subs all have been working together for over 20 years and take tremendous pride in their work. They’ll show you pictures of their work like the projects are their children. Best of all they all have worked together on so many projects that they complete each other’s sentences. So nothing gets lost in translation between the customer, contractor and sub. Jeff also has his own crew who are incredibly dedicated, skilled, hardworking (i.e. removed a two story brick chimney in 3 days) and polished. One notable member of his team is Elvis (and yes he's a rock star too). He is the go to person for any challenges faced during a project. He's highly knowledgable and skilled. And his easy going, "we can do that" attitude with a smile is always welcomed. Having spent months with him, my kids consider him their long lost uncle. The renovation included a complete gut of the kitchen, 2.5 baths and four bedrooms. We have completely updated the electrical, plumbing, windows, HVAC, furnace and hot water system. Added French Doors and skylights. We removed an obsolete two story brick furnace chimney which recaptured significant square footage. We have reconfigured and optimized most of the rooms and removed several load bearing walls to create an open floor plan. We refaced our fireplace in honed granite and replaced the fire brick. We're in the midst of finishing half our basement which will include a wood burning fireplace adding 610 square feet of living space. We also plan on renovating the attic into a living space with heating/cooling, new windows and skylights as part of phase two. Thus far there is no challenge we have thrown at Jeff that he hasn’t been able to address. He’s a consummate professional, honest, reasonable and the quality of work is outstanding. Further, the communication is excellent. He is always available (Saturday and Sunday if need be) and provides nearly daily updates with the progress of our project. I know I was thankful for the feedback I received from homeowners when making my contractor decision. I’m happy to do the same for someone else.

  • No choice but to terminate contract after paying contractor $173,000. Contractor failed to perform work in accordance with agreement; failed to pay subcontractors (electricians and plumbers, who were going to walk off project); misreprespresented facts about performance of work and ability to complete the work. Currently in litigation in the Rockland County Supreme Court 9th Judicial District.

  • This was a first class job from start to finish. It started with a quote that was clear, up front, and with a timetable for every step of the project. The job started on time and ended on time. Both Sander and Elmer (project foreman) kept us informed at every step of the way, and are just so pleasant to deal with. No worries with these guys. They, and the contracted professionals they used, were first class, shared the same customer focus, and kept the work area and passages clean. We absolutely will use them for other work in our home.
