    Our House
It's never easy living through construction, but OUR HOUSE Design + Build made the experience as pleasant and stress-free as possible. Steve, Reid, Amy, & the rest of the team were all extremely professional, organized, helpful, and communicative from start to finish - the project was done on time and the area was kept clean and contained throughout the entire process. Best of all - our front hall closet is now a beautiful new powder room! If/when we ever do more home renovations, we would not hesitate to use these guys again.

    F Kempes General Contractor
Outstanding results from Fernando and his team. Our home really stands out with a classic Craftsman look despite the vinyl material we wanted to use for siding (some would go wood and repaint, but we didn't want the maintenance). Fernando recommended the best material for the look we were going for and we couldn't be happier. Vinyl shingles and siding look like real wood and the color scheme is outstanding with the black gutters and mahogany railing on our porch that he put in on a previous job. From start to finish we were in good hands. Fernando even worked with us thru the home loan process and ensured we had everything we needed to close on our refinance. He and his team really went above and beyond and for a price that is fair and reasonable. Can't recommend highly enough. We are and will use again.

    James Doherty Electric
Jim Doherty is very professional and a pleasure to work with. Jim kept the work area very clean and was time efficient. Jim was also responsive, courteous and reasonably priced. My husband and myself would use his services again.

    F Kempes General Contractor
It was a great experience. Fernando Kempes is a very responsive general contractor, pays great attention to detail, is very honest and an all-around nice guy. His subcontractors are terrific. The person who does his tiles is a consummate professional. And his plumber and electrician and his own crew all did a great job. The centerpiece of our remodel is a walk in shower that is stunning. It has subway tile on the walls, a pebble tile shower floor, and ceramic plank tile on the bathroom floor. It also has a gorgeous custom glass shower door and s built-in bench with a quartz seat. We enjoyed working with Fernando and his entire crew.

    Keohane Electric
After we called Michael Keohane, they came in 40 minutes. One guy came in, opened up the switch in the secondary bathroom, found nothing. Then another man came in later, this time they opened the main control panel at the entrance and figured out the circuit breaker of the secondary bathroom was in the main bathroom. So by pressing the reset button in the main bathroom, the problem was fixed. But after their visit, there was a grounding problem in the outlet of the laundry room. And it caused a power surge later when we used the washer! The water hoses were burnt, water was leaking to the floor. It took us a week to schedule an appointment with the manufacturer's maintenance service to have a technician coming to our home. He checked the washer and said it was no doubt the problem was with the outlet. And we knew we just bought the washer a month ago, and washer was functioning well before the electrician's visit. Then we called Michael Keohane telling him it may be their fault of damaging the ground wire during the last visit, Michael became very defensive and denied it was because of their work. In addition, before they came in, they never mentioned how much was their service fee until they found that reset button. I couldn't believe for this kind of fix, they ask for $245.

    Gibbons Electric
We had a very hard time finding an electrician to respond to our calls. I found Gibbons Electric through the Medford Moms Facebook page. Steve responded immediately to my call, came to our house to price the work and set up an appointment. There was some confusion about the date and the workers came at the wrong time but that was easily fixed and we were not charged. The workers were professional, did the work quickly and helped us install a new doorbell even though it wasn't part of the original specs. I would definitely hire them again.

    Markarian Electric LLC
Jason came to take a look at our house which had a number of ancient two-pronged outlets still installed. I was expecting a much larger job, but it turned out that all but one had ground, and were safe to convert to a three-pronged outlet. The work was done quite promptly and to our satisfaction.

    Tavares Electric
We had a really hard time getting any electrician to call us back for the installation of a bathroom fan. Steve responded quickly and was willing to do the work in short order. We ended up not using the service - not for any reason related to Tavares Electric. However, I wanted to note how responsive he was and how reasonable his quote was. I would definitely work with him in the future.

    SILMAC Construction Inc.
Quality and Professionalism--A. The workers did an excellent job with every aspect of the project. They were clean and courteous from start to finish. . The different crews for demolition, plumbing, tiling, electrical, carpentry, and finishing were polite and courteous, and took care not to damage other areas of the house. Finished bathroom looks fantastic. Responsiveness -- A. Joe was usually prompt in his replies to our many questions and comments, within 24 hours but usually more quickly (same day) either by email or by phone. He was always patient and knowledgeable. Cost - C This is not a bad grade, but "average" for the typical contractor for a project like this. Total labor cost $15800. (Materials not included.) Upgraded electrical box material and labor, additional $2100. Punctuality - C. This is not a bad grade, but "average." It seems like projects always take longer than anticipated. Job was scheduled for 5 - 6 weeks. We had the shower available during the 7th week. Total project completed after 11 weeks. We did restrict the times that we wanted the crew working by requesting they not work after 6 p.m. in the evening because of the disruption it would cause at night. (Also, the building permit stated: "allowable hours of work Monday - Saturday 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.") We didnt think that was an unreasonable request because we were available nearly every day from 7 a.m. to late into the afternoon, including most Saturdays. Overall - B+. We are very happy with Joe, Silmac's job, and all his workers. Silmac will do a great job on your remodel. If our experience is typical of a Silmac project, by all means, hire Joe. Remember that the work may require extended time. If time is a factor in your decision, it might be advisable to amend Silmacs contract to set a completion date. Guarantee is for 1 year after completion. We did need to call back Silmac in November for a small problem with the heating system. It was handled promptly and professionally.
