    Affordable Appliance
I reached out to Affordable Appliance to inquire whether or not they would diagnose and fix a problem with a side by side GE fridge/freezer with a water dispenser that is about 8 years old. I got a call back from Bill and explained that I thought the freezer fan motor had stopped functioning and in addition the water dispenser was not working properly. He stated that he stopped servicing GE appliances because they were "junk" and have a lot of issues. Not a big help, but I thanked him anyway. No work was performed.

The first time we had them come out was to diagnose the problem. We were told the heater duct assembly needed to be replaced. That cost us $75. A gentleman named John then informed us the part was back ordered all across the nation and it was going to cost $175. After searching for online I found it for $61 and above. The dryer were 12 for 37 days after I paid $100 for them to come and install the part I ordered. Day 37 the dryer ceased to heat and dry clothes. I called them to come out and install a new part I had ordered with the believe it was the parts issue not the labor. To my surprise the service man told my wife it was a loose wire that hadn't been attached correctly the last time. Unfortunately for us it was over 30 days and we would have to pay. i'll give him credit where credit is due he did reduce the bill to $59 instead of $99. Just blows my mind that the wire that caused our dryer to stop working wasn't reattached correctly by their service people and because of seven days we are out $60. The worst part for them is we need to purchase new appliances within the next year or so and had already purchased a refrigerator for a rental units we had lived in about a year and a half ago. So much for loyalty.

    Apollo Appliance Repair Inc
Doing business with Apollo Appliance was fabulous and such a breeze. Annie, I think her name is, in the office, was quick to respond to my calls, so easy to talk to and set up an appointment with. She even offered that I call her the morning of our service day to get a more detailed time span when Vinny would arrive. Both times Vinny came to service our ice machine, he was so friendly and quick in his work. The first time, our ice machine wasn't working, he knew exactly what was wrong and fixed it in a few minutes. He suggested we put in a new machine, but when ours kept working, we decided to hold off. Of course, he was right because a few months later, our machine broke again. When he came back, he didn't mind at all having to come back and did his work in no time. He was such a pleasure to work with and I would definitely use this company again if it meant his coming back to do the work. I'm not sure how their prices are as I am new to fridge repair. The nice thing is we didn't have to pay for two service calls because they have a 90 day window. I only had to pay for the ice machine the second time.

He came right away, on time. He was very nice and did a good job. I thought he was a bit expensive. The dish washer did not need much work but the dryer did and there were the parts, I do not know what the parts were.

It would work for only 10 seconds and then it would stop.  There was a fuse that needed to be replaced.  They did a great job.  The unit was under warranty, so we didn't have to pay them.  We made the appointment last night at 11.30 via email.  They gave us an 8 to 12 window.  The phone rang at 10 o'clock this morning and they said they would be here at the next appointment.  The guy was here 20 minutes later.  He was in the house for only 15 minutes.  He fixed the problem and packed up and went home.

My dryer was making an awful sound - I wasn't sure if it was something that could be fixed or if I needed to replace it. I called Ray's (on a referral from another appliance store if you can believe that), explained my problem, and made an appointment. The technician arrived precisely on time, diagnosed, and was able to fix my dryer . He was very knowledgable, friendly and most of all prepared with the equipment necessary to do the job. The dryer is working great and if I ever need to buy a new one, Ray's will be the first company that I call.

It did not go well. I went to this small, independent store in lieu of going to a big chain store, because I wanted to support a small business. Boy, was I sorry. Not only did I pay more for the appliances (which I expected to do), pay for delivery (which the large chains don't charge), but I got lousy service both from the store and the delivery company (I did NOT expect this!). The salesman was not upfront about several things. For example, he omitted to tell me that the delivery company does not remove the packaging materials upon delivery. I found that out only when the delivery company indignantly informed me. The two men who delivered the appliances were sloppy, did not properly set the appliances up (I found this out after they left and when I reviewed the Owner's Manual), lost an important piece to one appliance, but either did not know or just did not bother to tell me (that I had to get from the manufacturer before I could use the appliance), and were in a big hurry to get things done.
