    Master Chimney Sweepers
It was quick and easy. After being told there were no appointments for more than a month, and being put on a "move up" list, I got an appointment the next day. Nick was courteous and professional and quick, explaining everything to me clearly. The price is on the higher end of what Angie's List predicts, but I have heard nothing but good things about MCS and wanted to make sure the chimney got done right, since we hadn't had it done in too long. He cleaned both flues and made recommendations for getting the creosote glaze out of the chimney.

They said I was "getting a deal" on the chimney cap and saving 50 dollars since it was 10% off my next service. A day later, Angies list had an offer from this company that was for a chimney cap for 299 I believe it was and the regular price was 500 (which I paid and thought it was a "Deal" at "10%" off; which obviously was not true). It seems like the chimney sweep is a ploy to get another job at a falsified discounted rate.

    5 Star Ventilation
Where to begin?  5 Star professionalism, excellent service, and delightful personality made a routine chimeny cleaning experience one I would recommend to friends and family alike.  They knowledged of the trade, along with their cheerful disposition, made what would have been a mundane experience into an interesting and educational one.
I was amazed at how much soot he cleared out of the chimney - it was a fire waiting to happen! Needless to say, I will have them come back in the recommended two years.

The scheduler called me for a reminder the day before the visit was scheduled, as promised. The crew of two showed up on time the next day. They were courteous, efficient and very clean. They inspected the chimney from the outside and did a thorough cleaning job from the inside of the house. They gave me recommendations and quotes for a more thorough cleaning procedure and for a structural modification that could improve the air flow. The fire box and flue are cleaner than I've seen them in a long time.

    Chimney Doctor Plus Inc
I say No, re using them in the future, because I hope that it's a one-time repair that will not be needed again in my lifetime. They are responsive, pleasant to deal with, punctual, and clearly observe high standards of workmanship. The price ended up less than the estimate, a pleasant surprise. Overall, a positive experience and I can recommend Chimney Doctor Plus.

I thought it was great that one of the people who came was a woman. I love hiring women to do the kind of work listed on Angie's List, but there are very few out there. So this is great.

In general, everyone who came to the house was professional and knowledgeable. They were courteous, neat, and careful in my home. The first day, when they came out to give me an estimate, they offered to either do the cleaning that day or when they started the other work. They gave a 5% discount for all work not covered by the Big Deal, which was great.

One small complaint: they mentioned that, for one of the warranties (not sure which one) to be valid, they would need to do an annual inspection of my chimney. When I asked whether and when I should contact them to set that up, they said that *they* would call me. However, I never heard from them on that front, so I think that warranty is no longer in effect.

This service was part of the Angie's List Big Deal -- $99 for chimney sweep and inspection.  My wife was home for the service and said Anthony was very courteous and performed the task without complication.  I received a quote from Jody electronically and have it available for when I want the liner installation completed.

    It went well and quickly.
My chimney has not been used in a few years so I had this company come in via Angie's list.
Their employee, Anthony, arrived on time and was very professional. He explained what he was going to do and did it.
He covered the area with a drop cloth and cleaned the chimney, even letting me know the vacuum cleaner would be loud.
He pointed out an issue asking about the chimney which was resolved when I told him we had a new liner put in five(5) years ago.
    He was cheerful and pleasant.
    I would hire them again.

    Complete Chimney Service Inc
Polite and professional, two Complete Chimney service technicians called the morning of the appointment to see if they could come early because they were finished with their previous job. We were out and couldn't accommodate the change, but they were fine with that and arrived at the original time instead. We had purchased an Angie's list coupon for a chimney sweep. After taking a look at our chimney, he said he couldn't clean it because we had other problems that needed to be addressed first. Namely, the flue from the basement venting the boiler and water heater was not a closed system. I stuck my head into the fireplace and looked up the chimney to see what he was talking about. Sure enough we had a bigger problem than sweeping the chimney. He recommended that we do not use the fireplace, get some other estimates and fix the flue as soon as possible. They emailed me a written estimate the next day with several options itemized out and called me to confirm that I received it. They also deducted the Angie's List coupon I already paid for, and stated that I could get a refund if I decided not to use them for the repairs. I am happy with their service, their price quotes seem to be in line with what I found on the web, and we will probably use them to repair the flue.

    Boston's Best Chimney
I made an appointment to have the single chimney in my house swept.  I have used this company before but not for several years since the fireplace had not had much use.  I was given a 2 hour time window (11-1 PM) in which they were to arrive.  In the past, this was a professional, reliable company.  No longer.  First, it was not until 1:10 that they left a phone message they were running late and would be there in about 10 minutes.  Even though that was annoying (someone should have call between 11 and 1 at the latest to say they would not make the appointment), I waited.  At 2 , I called the company.  They said they would try to find out where the workmen were but would have to call me back, so they clearly did not know already, were not keeping track and now they are an hour out of their chosen times.  They did not arrive until 2:10.  The workman in charge said he had had a " little fender bender", which could happen to anyone, but it still does not explain a full hour error.  He then looked briefly at the chimney and went to the basement to check the trap.  A few minutes later, he returned upstairs to tell me he thought the flue needed an additional liner for the furnace as a safety measure, etc.  In 30 years of having the chimney cleaned, no one has suggested this.  I told him I was not interested in having that done and did not want an estimate.  I was going to be late for an appointment if they did not complete the job fairly soon.  He said it should take about 30 minutes.  His helper went to work, and he returned to the truck.  The young man working on the fireplace seem diligent and professional.  When he finished however, I found that the other man was on my roof and taking measurements. removing the chimney cap shield, etc.   Apparently he was doing this to give an estimate for work I had already indicated I did not want.  That took an additional 15 minutes and I had to cancel my appointment.  The estimate he insisted on providing was for $2250!  Even if I were to have such work done, I certainly would not hire this company which appears to be attending far more to their profit margin and selling more services than to providing the work already contracted efficiently.  Most disappointing  to see.
