Well & Water Pump Repair reviews in Lunenburg

Nearly two hours were spent on various checks including removing the wellhead and checking the pressure at the source, checking the pressure where the pipe enters the house and checking the pressure after the aeration apparatus that is a part of the filtering system. Amperages were also checked. Ultimately, it was determined that the source of the problem is the actual water filtration system which was taken off line at the suggestion of the owner. Taking it off line involved turning three easy to reach valves. We were charged a total of $382.50 in labor when, for someone in the well pump business, who sees water filtering systems regularly, the problem could and should have been identified in 5 minutes. (The basic service call is $155 for up to 1/2 hour.) When the business owner was asked why the easiest check (taking the filter off line) wasn't tried first, his response was that they are not filter people and, in a nasty tone; if it were that obvious, why didn't I try it. The owner turned from being very polite and accommodating to being very abrupt, aggravated and nasty. I had paid the total $407.37 bill (upon request) while the workers were at my home and, upon phoning the owner to discuss, told him that I was unhappy with the bill but at no point did I ever request an adjustment. Even if I had, there was no call for him to react as he did. Having run my own business for years, my interest was always in using my experience to provide the greatest value to the customer. Had I been the one providing this service, I would have recognized that I should have tried the simplest solution first and would have charged the customer only for the basic 1/2 hour call; $155. I would have chalked the rest of the time up to a learning experience for me. I took that approach on any number of occasions with my customers and it inevitably resulted in referrals and repeat business. As it turned out, I paid over $100 per man hour for a series of diagnostics that should not have had to be done. This company replaced the original well head for me 17 years ago without incident. I was satisfied, thought that their price was fair and fully intended to use them again when a new head was needed but, as a result of this experience, I will find some other company to do the work.

I called Real Dry Basement Waterproofing because I was still getting some water in my basement through the
cinderblock walls even though a small sump pump that I had installed about six years ago was helping with more significant rainfall. Curt responded in a very timely way to my request for an estimate. The estimate was very clear and accompanied with pictures of the new sump pump and mirror drain which was very helpful in picturing the work to be done. He and his crew installed a new drainage system, a new (larger) sump pump, and a mirror drain along the back wall of the basement (which continues into the garage) where the water had been leaking in. They also finished the wall with a latex waterproofing cementitious coating and removed and took away an old rug that covered a portion of the floor (at my request). They applied a commercial moldicide after removing the rug. They also broke up and hauled away an old soapstone sink that was against the back wall. Curt and his crew completed the installation in a day and a half.  They were very friendly and courteous and responded readily to any questions I had. Curt was kind enough to offer to remove some old lumber that I had in the basement at the same time they took away the carpet and old sink for no additional charge.  There was only one glitch in my experience with Real Dry and that was on the second day when they were getting ready to leave and the work bench and shelving hadn?t been replaced because the cement was still wet. At first Curt was reluctant to return on another day to put everything back, but when I told him that I was unable to do that myself and that I had understood that things would be returned to their proper places after they finished working, he readily agreed. He and his crew returned five days later after the cement had dried and cheerfully returned everything to its proper place. At the same time his crew finished painting the latex coating on the garage side of the wall. Curt was very easy to work with, seemed very honest and straight forward in his dealings with me.  When I asked about his returning on a yearly basis to clean the pump and insure it was in good working order (for a fee), he was very honest to say that that particular pump wouldn?t need that kind of yearly maintenance, but that he would be happy to stop by (at no charge) once a year to check things out, if that would make me feel more comfortable.  He was extremely professional to work with and I would certainly recommend him to anyone in need of help with a wet basement.

The install went quickly and the basement was left with no mess. Sump pump works great and Tom was very helpful with suggestions for further limiting the water in our basement.
