    S + H Construction Inc
S+H was grossly negligent with the roof construction. They bought plywood sheathing for the roof. One sheet of plywood that they installed at the edge of the roof had a large hole. They put shingles on top of the plywood and its hole, but did not use any industry standard protection. No ice and water shield. No tar paper or roofing felt. Nothing. They left the hole unprotected from the elements, except for the roof shingles. After several years of water entering the addition structure, a spot finally appeared on the ceiling corner of my garage. A roofer inspected and found the roof hole above that area of the ceiling, and repaired the roof by patching over the hole. A year or so later, another issue arose - a bird pecked into the exterior siding near that area of the roof. A contractor came over to repair that piece of siding, but discovered that water had caused extensive rot to the addition structure. We were greatly surprised, since there had been no visible evidence of there being such a significant problem. All of the rot was now completely dry, because the roof repair stopped further water from entering. But the many years of allowing water to enter had already done its damage. I called S+H and spoke with the prior owner who still worked at S+H. I told him about the extensive rot it was so bad that the structure was unsafe and was sure cost over $50,000 to repair. He said he was going on vacation, but would talk to his insurance. Over the next 4 weeks while the structure was being repaired, I had many email contacts with S+H. They did not deny responsibility, except in one odd email from the S+H owner. I write odd, because it makes no sense. She wrote that S+H needed to look at the hole to determine whether it caused the leak. That is odd, because patching the hole caused the leak to stop, and S+H was told that. And even more odd, because I offered to show the hole to S+H, but they refused to come to the house to look at the hole. And they refused to accept the statements of my home insurance adjuster, my general contractor and my roofer (who patched the hole). And, they wrote they were advised to not file a claim with their liability insurance even though it is free and simple to file a claim (the insurance agency does the actual filing). They adamantly refused to do anything about the problem. No offer to help repair the house themselves. No offer to help pay for the repair. All they gave me was the contact information of their lawyer, in case I wanted to pursue them legally. I spent $70,000 to do the repairs needed because of the S+H gross negligence. Either they used non-professionals to do my roof, or they hired professionals who deliberately took shortcuts that were sure to cause grave damage to my house. S+H provided no justification for their response, except to write that they had a one-year warranty. That was a falsehood. I sent them a copy of their contract, which did not have a one-year warranty There were other problems with S+H, but I don't want to include them since that would distract from the major issue that I described above.

    Arctic Bear Spray Foam Insulation
It went extremely well and exceeded my expectations. 1. Very high quality of work. Because of the way our house was framed and structured, some areas need closed cell and some area can go with open cell, and in some areas we want a combination of both. Certain area is extremely difficult to reach and you have to crawl in through a small hole. Sotiris worked with us and carried out the plan flawlessly, overcoming these complexities and challenges. They covered everything before the work, and cleaned everything after the work. The work was completed in April and now in July, we feel the huge difference the foam insulation makes -- though outside temperature can be 85 degree, we are only 75 degree inside, without using AC. 2. Very competitive price. We got about 5 quotes from different vendors which are all highly rated either on Angie's list or friends' recommendations. Sotiris' quote is the best. 3. Very honest, knowledgable, professional, friendly, and easy to work with. Sotiris came over at least twice to provide free consultation and quote. He worked around our schedule and made it really easy for us -- he completed the work while we were on vacation, otherwise we have to find another place to stay. Two months after the project was over and fully paid, I called him to spray some additional fire proof paint on the foam, he responded quickly, came in after two days, did the work, insisting on not charging me anything though I told him that I should pay him for his time the extra work.

    Closed Cell Structures LLC
Paul was a pleasure to work with and Charles and his crew did a great job on the work. They did a great job applying the foam and did not make a mess of our home. We got several quotes for this work. Closed Cell Structures was a little more money but they seemed much more competent so we went with them. One of the reasons for the increased cost was that they applied a fire-retardant coating to the foam. This was not even mentioned by the other bidders and it turns out it is required by current code and is an important safety feature of the installation. We are very pleased with the work that Closed Cell Structures did for us and we will recommend them to our friends.

It went as well as it could.  Rob and his crew were able to come out on nearly a moment's notice (it was the roofer's carpenter who accelerated the schedule faster than anyone else wanted) to install insulation while the area under the roof was accessible (that is, before the roofer put on the new roof) - avoiding the need to drill holes or otherwise disrupt the roof.  Later Rob's crew came back to install Thermax / Dense Pack for the main part of the roof.  It is a very labor-intensive process and part of it can be a little tedious.  Rob and his crew take great pride in their work and work on your house as if they were working on their own house.  The house is noticeably cooler with all of the new insulation and I am looking forward to lower heating bills this winter.  If we have future insulation needs, I will definitely hire Rob and his crew again.

March and Martin did an amazing job of applying a closed cell spray foam insulation to the underside of an existing roof in a finished home.  The house is a mid-century modern design with no attic, so the affected ceiling was directly in the living area.  The ceiling had moisture and mold issues and was removed by others, exposing the 8" joists and underside of roof.  March and Martin came in and carefully taped poly sheeting throughout the entire top floor of the house--walls and floors--such that there was no over-spray on any surface when they were done.  They completed the project in a week, while the family had vacated the premises.  The 2-3 workers per day were punctual, worked carefully, and left the house spotless when complete (the shavings from the ceiling over-spray make a mess).  The scheduler in the office communicated with the homeowner prior to the project to make sure the project proceeded as planned and promptly returned calls.  March and Martin was also much more competitively priced than another firm I had also quote the job.  I would highly recommend March and Martin for any insulation project.

    TKG Services LLC
Tom Morgan and his team did an exceptional job from start to finish.  They safely demolished and disposed of a ceiling that was saturated with moisture and mold.  They used techniques to keep the house contained and negatively pressurized in the affected areas.  The family was able to live in the lower level of the house (mid-century, split level) the whole time.  They even cleaned and sanitized the house and including the kitchen surfaces so we could use the kitchen throughout construction in the evening.  The rebuild work was flawless--the new ceiling drywall (new insulation was by others), the prep and paint was perfect.  During drywall work, they employed dust control measures that kept the house relatively dust free.  They installed new LED lighting and new code-required smokes/CO sensors throughout, and repainted the walls and trim.  They left the place spotless--every night!!  They also re-tiled the master bath and installed a new vanity.  They also replaced an exterior overhang ceiling with a new, smooth PVC panel system. Tom communicated regularly about progress and next steps and kept me abreast of any issues or concerns.  He was always prompt in answering a call or text.  His crew was always courteous and pleasant.  I would highly recommend TKG services for any home improvement project, especially for any challenging project where careful attention to detail is required and where the homeowner may be living in the house during the work.

Excellent. Rob and his team insulated the same sun-room 2-years ago with the same excellent results. This company is extremely professional, personable,  and respectful to the property and surroundings. Worked hard from the moment they arrived to the time they left. They even reinstalled the ceiling foil board BETTER and more securely than the original install. There was no oversell and the sun-room is warmer as was expected. Great company, would engage their services again if required.

I called Rob on a Friday afternoon. He came over within an hour and looked at our house. He came back with a quote within a couple of days. We sent in the deposit and the signed contract and then his team came over two weeks later. Rob works with his two sons and a close family friend, and they are all very, very polite and professional.
They went above and beyond in terms of clean-up - we have two young children and didn't want anything lying around. Every bit of their materials were cleaned up every day.
The work they did is of excellent quality. The very day the insulation was in, we noticed an immediate difference in heat retention in our house. No more drafts, much more efficient in terms of heating. It used to be that every morning when I came downstairs to make breakfast, the heater would be hard at work. Now, sometimes I come down and it's not even on, since the house retained the heat overnight.
Rob knows his stuff. We were initially considering going with a Mass Save provider, but their proposal was to put 36 inches of fiberglass or cellulose on the floor of our attic. This didn't seem reasonable, since we have an a/c unit up there and that whole area would not be insulated. Also, it seemed that if we needed three feet of the stuff, it couldn't be very efficient. Surely there was something better. Well, Rob gave us the answer and I am confident that what he installed, which was rigid insulation on the ceiling of our attic and then cellulose between the ceiling joists, is a thousand times better. Better insulation, and we still have access to our attic floor for storage. It's great - we are totally satisfied!

I have never done a renovation before and I was nervous going into this project.  I read the reviews on Angie's list and I was very comfortable and impressed with Marcello.  His team did a wonderful job and they went above and beyond to get everything done, including the small details!  He was very professional and responsive to my concerns.  The finished product is excellent.  I give Marcello and his team my highest recommendation.
