  • Jerry and his men were on time, communicative, helpful in each step from design to completion. They showed up when they said they would and worked extremely hard all day. The end result is beautiful! Jerry drew ideas and let us choose the ones that we thought would work best. He gave us stone choices in our colors and guided us through he process. We have referred him to others as we loved the work. They cleaned up and left everything neat every day and at the end of the project.

  • Sam and team did great work at a reasonable price. If you've had work done you know how hard it is to get someone to call you back, show up for an estimate, and give accurate estimates for how long the work will take. Sam is very responsive, he takes time to explain what he is doing, provides options and then completes the work on time. The quality of the work was excellent.

  • The steps look beautiful.  They used brownstone for the treads and they look beautiful.  We had some problems with the colums that hold the small portico, but these were fixed and the result is amazing.

  • I've put off writing this review, since we literally saw 2 versions of United - the A version, and the C- version.  Reading over some other reviews, it seems as though United is "on" with some clients, "off" with others, and we fell somewhere in the middle.
I truly enjoyed working with United for the most part.  Marcos was very friendly and receptive, Wilmar had some great design suggestions that really had a positive impact on how the bathroom looked in the end.  Alessandro was typically brought to the site only when there was an issue, and in the end, we were able to talk through disputes and come to satisfactory resolution after much discussion.
Communication can be an issue with United- I feel like there were weeks where we had their attention and work was flowing at a great pace, and then weeks when we couldn't get an answer to a phone call and we didn't know where the project stood.  There were some personnel changes and illnesses that definitely had an effect on the quality of workmanship and work flow.  There were some extras that we got with the job, then other parts that I was surprised to see us being billed for.  Overall, I think they did a great job with site cleanliness, demolition, toilet installation, and vanity installation. On the downside, the shower tile installation (floor and walls) was  sub-par (~dozen tiles not flush with walls, finish details omitted), the sink drain was crowded into a spot and leaked.  Perhaps my biggest issue is that we purchased a radiant floor heating system, and United really didn't install this properly, neglecting to pay attention to the location of the heating unit to provide the comfort it was intended to give.
Bottom line - we got a nice bathroom for a fair price.  The quality of the workmanship is good overall - really good in some areas and barely "fine" in others.  Some spots had mistakes that we resolved by agreeing to a price reduction, and we are enjoying our new bathroom.  Not the space we thought we were going to have, but overall, we are satisfied with the job.

  • Started work a few days later than initially quoted. The job was supposed to take 2-3 days, but then they under-ordered stones and we had to wait another 2 days for the shipment and to finish installing. The job was done start to finish in 5 days.

  • Provided estimate. Proceeded with work. Stayed on job until finished promptly. John is a true craftsman. He has published articles on building walls. I believe he was on a home improvement television program. Excellent workmanship. Can not praise him enough.

  • It was a pleasure working with Ron and his company. The design process went back and forth a few times and Ron was always very helpful and reasonable and had great ideas on how our landscaping could be improved. The final plan is something that we were very happy with.
Given that experience, we decided to hire him to install part of the plan (we could not afford to do it all at once). We established our total budget with Ron and he determined, given our priorities, what could be accomplished with the funds we had available. While it was not inexpensive, it was reasonable given how much physical labor was involved as well as the materials that the Narrow Lane uses (all of very high quality). Once that was agreed to and scheduled, everything went very smoothly. Ron was totally available, friendly and responsive if I had questions (and I did). He stands by the work of his company and everything they did looked amazing. The patio and path that they put in for us exceeded our expectations in terms of how beautifully done they both were. The plantings looked good, but they were installed in the fall, so we will know better how they really look in a few months. I have confidence that they will be beautiful and if any do not survive in the first year, they are guaranteed by the Narrow Lane to be replaced.
Ron was a pleasure to work with, oversaw the work effectively and is creative and has excellent taste with his design approach. I highly recommend him and his company and look forward to continuing to work with them as we install additional parts of the landscape plan.

  • JUNE 2013 - Just a quick update .... the garden popped to life beautifully this spring! It is such a treasure to behold , that people tell me they walk their dogs 5 blocks out of their way just to see it every day! - That pretty much says it all!

  • The porch is excellent and I love it.  The foundation looks good.  They did a nice foundation but one thing that bothers me is that, a lot of people don’t call if they’re not coming.  I think they were gone for a week and then they said the carpenter person was going to finish the porch job.  They said they would come the next day or the following Monday, but I didn’t see them.  They came back after a month and they said they were going to do more work in the back which was not necessary, but I just wanted it done.  The person who was supposed to do the porch went out of town for a month.  That was really annoying.  It’s annoying when people done come and just don’t inform.  The masonry and the porch look good.  They did do good work.  Their pricing was excellent.  They speak English but sometimes I think there was a bit of a barrier.  There was a bit of a barrier but we communicated fine.  I don’t know if they misunderstood because of that but they did a good job.  They were punctual and they were here every morning.  I might consider using their services again in the future.

  • Cheapest of 4 estimates. The quality of their work exceeded my expectations. Their communication was excellent. I received updates, and they beat their proposed deadline to finish their work. They were very honest and straight forward about limitations of their work, i.e. the new bricks might not match perfectly, (but they did). They came up with very clever solutions to challenges to rebuilding the wall including rebuilding part of it under an aluminum garage. I would definitely hire them again.
