David has a laid back style but that just masks his meticulous attention to detail. His communication is excellent and the quality of his work is outstanding. I simply cannot understand the negative review from 2013 posted here. I am questioning if they have the correct David Adams.

We found Britton Homes on Angie's List for an addition to our home.  Jim is a focused, honest, organized professional who came in with a very detailed estimate for the job and kept us up to date on the timeline through the whole process.  The work was outstanding and even with a few setbacks along the way Jim managed to get the work done on time.  Jim's bid was high, and he said right from the start that Britton Homes will have higher estimates than a lot of other outfits, but they also get the job done for what they say (rather than come back with extra expenses through the whole job).  Also, you get what you pay for and Britton Homes was well worth it.  I would use them again in a heartbeat.

We have a private seawall that was in dire need of reconstruction.  The work had to follow engineering plans and conservation board rulings.  But to make this more difficult - the access to the seawall was limited - could not approach it by the beach or a road.  We had a number of quotes with some complicated methods of work planning - but once we talked to Joe Agrillo Jr and Joe Agrillo III - we knew we were in safe hands.  Their bid was reasonable and their methods were not only understandable but also understanding of our property and our neighbors. This was a big job - biggest we have ever been part of - took over a month to complete.  But all along the way, Joe & Joe would communicate, verify, and follow-through - taking care of all the details, keeping us up to date with the progress, and always available to answer any of our questions - either by phone, email, or in  person.   Bottom line - these are great people to deal with and produce quality work.  Although this was a big job - the Agrillo's take on any size job. Would recommend them for any job you have.

Dean's communication was consistently excellent and always on time.  This was very refreshing as other contractors I was getting bids from were very hit and miss on the communication front.
Dean came on site multiple times in order to understand our needs and come up with a plan.  His quote was well written, easy to follow, and most importantly, fairly priced.
While I can't comment on Dean's work, I can say that my interactions with him were significantly better than the other half dozen contractors I talked to during the process.

The project started off well. The gut was quick and efficient but messy. When the finish work started the problems began. The biggest problem is with the tile in the tub area because I can't "fix it". The tiles are popping out in places, the grout lines are uneven, the border pieces are cracked and one has a huge chunk taken out. This was repaired by a magic marker. The overall tile job is terrible and very noticeable. The floor tile was installed up against the baseboard instead of under. The grout line was uneven and a piece was taken out of the corner of one tile. To fix this he tried to paint the grout the baseboard color. I asked he put a quarter round on top of it to fix the problem. The wall paint has missed spots, several spots on the ceiling and brush stroke marks. It took me over an hour to get paint off the light fixture and vanity pulls. The wall around the light fixture is scratched. The woodwork is the worst. I have to sand and repaint it. There are spots sanded but not painted, nail holes with no putty and he was blowing the dust off and painting over it!!! Painting 101 is the prep work. Every time I voiced a concern he told me it was good enough! When you're paying all that money good enough is just not good enough. Clean up was bad. Every night I had to wash mastic and paint off my stair runner. Some paint spots remain. When installing a built in cabinet they put multiple dents in the wall. The cabinet was too big and the edge had to be ground down for it to fit.  In the process a small crack appeared in the window. He put putty on two dents but left a huge chunk of putty that will take a while to sand down. When I asked if he would be back to fix it he told me the guy who built the cabinet put it there he would finish it.  The job is still not complete as I will have to repaint the walls, woodwork and parts of the ceiling. My teenage daughter summed it up like this - You worked so hard and saved so long only to be disappointed. Oh and he cracked the marble threshold in two places and never told me until I asked him about it. He blamed the marble! I had to have the granite company come and fix it but it's still cracked and will always be cracked. He also scratched the finish in the sink because he never covered it and continually had tools and crap on top of my granite. I will NEVER use this contractor again.

I called this contractor to remodel the main bath in my house. He was very prompt upon returning my call and setting up an appt to see the job. However, I never heard back from him. I called 2 weeks later only to get a voice mail stating he would leave a quote. He never did even after leaving several messages. Not a contractor I would call in the future!

I called 6 different Angie's List carpenters during May/June 2012 for  estimating the rebuild of my gutted basement after Hurricane Irene had left 8" of water in the basement..  Livia from Dimensions 3d was the only one that returned my call.  Although Dimensions had estimates booked until early July and work booked until mid-September, I made the 7/05/12 date for Livia to view the basement and provide an estimate.  Livia arrived at the pre-arranged time punctually, was very professional and knowledgeable, provided lots of great advice as well as a CD of recent work.  Livia provided a reasonably priced & prompt estimate in less than a week.  The only reason that I did not use Dimensions 3d was the timing of their availability versus my wanting to complete work sooner to re-finance my home before missing out on low mortgage rates.  If I do have another remodeling job, I would seek out Livia's team and try again.

The Beaconstreet contact was very professional, not a pushy salesman. He was keen on visiting with us under the coupon we purchased through Angies list, but understood that our timeline was early next year. Rather than simply "walking away", he inquired about our needs and wants and appeared to be desirous of arranging a meeting within my timeline.

We hired TSB to design-build our addition using their architect.  From the first meeting, Doug was responsive and professional and we felt he always had our best interests at heart.  Crew was very neat and professional and showed up every day on time.  They kept to their initial budget and the only change orders were ones that we requested.  They were extremely patient and accommodating with any changes we requested during the process.  When issues did arise, TSB addressed them promptly and, in our opinion, always did right by us, their customer.  TSB came back several times after the work was completed to address warranty items (like settlement cracks in the plaster) and always did so promptly and without hesitation.

In general, we had an excellent experience with TSB and would highly recommend this company.  If all contractors were as responsive and professional as Two Storey, then contractors would not have a bad name.  I cannot say enough good things about this company.

This project was an absolute success from start to finish. This was a "design/ build" project, so Doug, the architect, my wife and I were together at each planning meeting. While time consuming, this level of planning insured that Doug new exactly what what we wanted, and, conversely, allowed us to understand exactly was was and was not possible with our existing site and budget. Doug took our budget very seriously, and remained committed thoughout the project to holding the final costs to the budget we had initially set. When the design was finally set, Doug presented us with a schedule, documenting each phase of the project, and a target completion date. From the initial stages of the project, it was obvious that Two Storey was committed to quality, professional work. Our project required us to move our septic tank, and the final design called for the foundation to be close to the allowed set back limits. Doug was on site often during these initial stages, to make sure that everything was exactly where it needed to be. Framing progressed quickly, and was fun to watch. As the addition took shape, and the electrical and plumbing systems went in, I was struck by how the construction site was quite busy, but amazingly well organized. We never experienced any periods of inactivity during the project- work was ongoing nearly every day through the duration of the project. There was not a single example of sloppy work anywhere, even during rough construction. Two Storey Construction has high standards for all of their subcontractors. Though all 5 months of construction, we had no complaints from neighbors, and we found each of the subcontractors to be professional, courteous, and with a commitment to craftsmanship. For example, I had told Doug early on that I was allergic to cigarette smoke, and asked that the contractors not smoke within the new space, even during the framing stages. Through the entire 5 months of construction, I did not catch a wiff of cigarette smoke, and I never found a single butt outside. Bill Storey (Doug's brother and partner) was present nearly every day for most of the construction, and gave us regular updates on how the project was progressing and what we could expect in each subsequent week. He answered every question patiently, and kept the construction site clean and well organized. When the time to "break through" from the existing house into the new space came, Bill made sure that the areas were sealed and blocked off for safety. We have 2 young children, and, in addition to answering their questions, Bill made sure that the environment was as safe as possible for them and for us. During the planning stages, there were 2 times that we were planning on having to move out for a few days to allow work to be done. Bill and Doug managed to rearrage schedules so that these times coincided with our planned vacations, so we never needed to move out to accomodate the construction. Living in a house undergoing this level of renovation is tough at times; there is simply no way around that. Doug and Bill made sure that every possible accomodation was made to allow us to remain. While the construction went smoothly overall, there were a few problems. For example, and unexpected rainstorm hit the night after the rear siding of the existing house was removed. The rain was heavy enough so that the tarps Two Storey had put up were not sufficient, and we had some flooding in the basement. (This occured during a time of record rainfall in the area- I'm not holding Two Storey responsible for the flood- it was one large storm!) I bring this up, because when I emailed Bill and Doug about the flooding at 6 am, they had emailed us back by 6:30, and were on site by 7 am cleaning out the flooded area. By early afternoon, they had emptied our basement, had our two large area rugs out to dry, and had blowers going to take care of the rest of the water. Other than a handfull of books, we did not lose a thing to water damage. This was just one example of Two Storey's commitment to sevice. Doug and Bill held regular, formal monthly progress meetings with us throughout the project. These kept us abreast of how the job was progressing, and also allowed us to make the decisions we needed to make in a timely manner. Doug and Bill were extremly helpful with suggestions throughout the project, and let us know what changes were within our budget. Our final meeting was only 2 weeks later than Doug's initial projection. I found that extremely impressive for a project of this scope. We ended up with an addition that has transformed our home, and is literally a dream come true. We had owned this home for 13 years before undertaking this project. During that time, we have hired our share of contractors for various jobs. When we met Doug, he told us "We're different". They absolutely are. Doug and Bill were absolutely honest and forthright throughout the project. They were always available for questions, and answered all phone calls and emails promptly. They showed us each invoice and subcontractor proposal, and told us up front how much their fee was going to be. They made sure that they eared their fee by managing each phase of the project professionally, and making sure that the entire project was build with a degree of pride and craftsmanship I did not believe existed any longer. At the end, our "punch list" only included about 6 minor items, and these were promptly corrected. Two Storey stands behind their work, and puts that in writing in the construction contract. I found them a pleasure to deal with, and will absolutely call them, and them alone, for my next project. When I shook hands with Doug at the final meeting, I told him that he had changed my view of what a contrator could be. In short, if you have a home improvement project, don't even think about hiring another contractor. Two Storey Construction will provide a high quality job at a competative price, and do so professionally, courteously, and with pride. We recommend them without hesitation.
