  • Great. Scott Lagasse is the best mechanic for European cars I have ever found. Over 20 years Scott has serviced 3 Volvos and a Mercedes for our family. He always diagnosed the problem correctly the first time, provided accurate estimates of work, outlined future work that would need to be done and the order of importance. He would also tell us what was not worth doing or ridiculously expensive . His prices are fair and much lower than many alternatives. Extremely knowledgeable , good communication skills, honest, and knows how to run his business. Scott is a rare find.

  • After 3 times of  bringing  it back for the same issue (check engine light came on after I drove it away) and over a THOUSAND dollars later I still had the same issue of the  2 knock sensors. I then had to bring it to another shop who had to fix there mistakes.

    They clearly had no clue on what they were doing, I would not ever go there again.

  • I thought it was expensive. Actually they told me the car was ready so I went down there and the car wasn't ready so I had to go all the way back home. It was a major hassle. Long story short, I had some issues with them, honestly. I had to go to work so I sent my wife and kid there to get the car and they had locked our key in the car, too. I thought they were expensive but I guess they were okay. When you tell someone the car is ready and you go there and it is not, it is a little aggravating. I lost a couple of hours there so I don't know how you can do that. It wasn't ready 3-1/2 hours after they said the car would be ready. The car runs good. I guess the responsiveness was okay. I did like the fact that when you went in there the guy was wearing a tie and they seemed professional and things like that. They have excellent ratings on Angie's List.  I will give them another chance.

  • I have been using Nick's Central Garage for over twenty years.  A few years ago, I wrote a very positive review of the business on Angie's List.  What I didn't know, and which only just surfaced, is that Nick and Phil have had resentment toward me for the past two decades.  Since I first started having my car worked on at Nick's, I have purchased every tire, every wiper blade, every battery, every muffler, alignments, brakes, tire rotations, etc, for my cars and had all work done other than recalls at Nick's Central Garage.
    I recently made an appointment to have my tires checked for wear.  If they needed to be replaced before winter, I was going to decide if I would get snow tires or all-season and check Consumer Reports for recommended tires.  It is true, that, in the past, I have purchased whatever tires that Nick recommended and not regretted it.  However, I thought that this time, I would research prior to purchasing.  Both Phil and Nick treated me rudely.  It so upset me, that I called Nick the following day to find out what was going on.  Nick said that when someone says they want to research something that he assumes that means that they are going to price check elsewhere.  He also told me that I have always been argumentative and that they have never been able to please me.  This cut me to the quick.  I told him that I thought that we always had a good working relationship and could he please tell me a time when I was argumentative or not pleased?  I did think of the t time that a new wiper blade was making a racket and I brought the car back and they replaced the wiper, but I didn't think that  merited the animosity that Nick was exhibiting after a 20 year relationship.  He did have 2 examples to share:
    The first one was when the car was in for an oil change and he went out of his way to do an inspection on the car because the inspection due date was coming up.  When I came to pick up the car and pay the bill, I told Phil that I got free inspections from the dealership, a perk that was offered when I purchased the car.  They did not charge me for the inspection.  This was two cars ago and for some reason Nick resented the fact that I did not pay for an inspection that I did not ask to have done.  (It would seem the thing to do would be to call the owner and mention that they noticed that inspection was due, would you like us to do it at this time?)  The other thing was that, after the very first oil change they did decades ago, I asked that they no longer top off the windshield fluid as part of the service.  If I had know that this would cause so much resentment to boil over 20 years later, I would have just topped it off before dropping off the car.  I have been the most loyal of customers.  Nick had no reason to think that I would go elsewhere for the tires.  Once I decided on what action I was taking with the tires, I was going to have them check the front brakes which most likely need work and check the battery which may need to be replaced.  I guess it is better late than never to find out what a service provider really thinks of you.  Based on this most recent experience, I can no longer recommend Nick's Central Garage.  And it kind of breaks my heart, because I have always told people that I trusted them like family.

  • Dropped the car off the night before as instructed with no issues. Paul called me later in the afternoon and let me know it was done without any issues. Then told me the repair amount and I was very surprised. It is RARE these days when the work performed is not done so without ups and extras. And the pricing is what most shops charge for a single hour. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
    Very happy to have found them, and thankfully did so by just searching Angie's List (and did NOT limit the search area).

  • It was excellent because it is always excellent. Anything we have ever brought him, he has done a great job. They were very polite and very good. He has a good staff. They usually do a super good job. They always solve the problem, whatever the problem is. They are honest and fair as far as pricing goes. I have no negatives at all.

  • CANNOT GO WRONG!!! I can honestly say Nick, (and) his techs are the BEST! I am in the Auto Body equipment business! I (literally) have over 3500 customers and know the auto repair industry very well. Nick 's shop does it right and is very fair with the pricing !!!

  • We have a Volvo and apparently, Volvo’s parts are very expensive. They explained everything up front. The work took a long time. The owner was a great guy to work with. We found him on Angie’s List and he was really good. We would use him again.

  • Speen St is great. As a woman, I sometimes feel that we get taken advantage of with auto repairs. Speen St does not make repairs if the car does not warrant the repair. They fix it right the first time and let me know if something should be   attended to, however, they also tell me to wait & not do the job yet if the item is not a safety issue and it is not time for the repair. For instance, I initially went there when my mechanic scared me and told me I needed brakes immediately. I took my car to Speen St for 1st time and they told me that I had much more life in the brakes and to come back in 12-15,000 miles.  That cost me $40 instead of a brake job!  I appreciate their honesty & I would especially recommend for Subaru servicing.
