I made the mistake of bringing my watch to Cranberry Jewelers on April. 8. Carl Johnson, the owner, looked at it and said it would be a simple battery replacement that he could do while I waited. After 45 minutes, he then said there was some post that wasn't lining up correctly, and he'd need a few more days. After taking my information, Carl said I'd hear from him by Wednesday. Week 1: No promised call was received, so on Saturday April 16 I tried calling the shop, but after no answer after attempts spanning hours, I assumed they were closed for Easter weekend. Week 2: Called again the following Tuesday, and Carl's excuse was that he'd been really busy, but would get the job done within the next few days. Again, he promised to call as soon as the watch was ready - probably no need to mention that the call was never received. Week 3: Stopped by the shop on April 28. Sign in the window said "out to the bank and errands - back by 1:30". Waited until 1:45 and gave up. Week 4: Today, May 6 I went in and said I wanted my watch back without any further delay. Carl searched for about 15 minutes and then "remembered" that it wasn't back from the watch-maker yet. I called him a liar and reminded him of our prior conversations. Miraculously he then found it. Carl's next story was that he couldn't get the correct battery from the manufacturer. Again, I called him a liar and said he'd claimed to change the battery already on April 8 while I was there. Next, he tried to blame me - said I'd told him it was a Seiko when it was actually a Citizen's watch - he couldn't respond when I questioned why he, as a supposedly qualified jeweler, didn't notice that mistake right away. In his most exaggerated voice, he said "well, I'm so sorry". The word "liar" was again used. So now on May 6, I finally have my broken watch back in my possession - I'm hoping that Carl didn't cause any other damage - but I have no confidence that this will be true. Customers beware! My experience with Carl Johnson and Cranberry Jewelers is that he's incompetent, underhanded and of course, a liar. Be especially careful if you're a tourist and expect to bring your jewelry home with you after made the mistake of leaving it with Cranberry Jewelers
