Basement & Foundation reviews in Gloucester

I first purchased the deal and contacted Dave in late July. He came to my home to review the job. He was a really nice guy, as was his girlfriend. I felt that the price he quoted was very reasonable. I told him that the job did not have to be done right away. We hooked up again in mid-August and went back and forth regarding the material options. He was very responsive and on top of the situation, but did give excuses as to why he didn't show up when he was supposed to with those options. Around the third week in August, he requested a 50% deposit of $500 which I promptly paid in cash, as he said that would get me a discount. I was away and left it for him in my mailbox. After he picked it up, he said that he would be here in a couple of days to start the job. While he was aware that the job was not a rush, I had no objection to his performing it as scheduled. Again delays. It did not bother me too much at the time. On Wednesday, Sept. 9th, I contacted him and said that in short time period, I needed a footing poured for an exterior spiral staircase. He said that he would come on Saturday to take a look and also bring the material options for the other project. I asked him about what time he'd come so that my contractor can hook up with him to decide what needed to be done. He did not respond nor did he show up. Obvioiusly, the only time he was able to actualy come back out here, was to pick up the cash. For four days, I emailed him to find out what was up. No response. Initially, I was getting concerned that something bad had befallen him since he had been so nice and responsive, for the most part. Finally, I started getting annoyed. It was only then that I looked up his reviews. What a mistake on my part to have not read them before hiring him. One after another about delays, excuses and non-performance. Two evenings ago, I emailed and told him that if he didn't get back to me by yesterday, that I would write a review such as the one I am now, and would take action to get my money back. He did respond yesterday with three emails providing excuse after excuse for the bad reviews. He complained that the jobs were far away from him and scheduling/re-scheduling was difficult. I only live twenty minutes away. He said that he did want to do the work, but also said that he would give me my money back if I so choose. I responded with both of my phone numbers and told him to call me right away. He never did. This morning, I called and left him a messaage (he never answers his phone, it seems), that I would give him til noon today to respond and arrange to get my money back. Right before noon, I called to tell him that I was going ahead with my review. His mailbox was now full. So here I am with a job that urgently needs to get done and out $500. Never mind the aggrivation I have gone through and will continue to, when I take him to small claims court. DON'T EVER HIRE THIS GUY!!!!! READ REVIEWS FIRST! I was the fool to not have done that. I could have avoided this most unpleasant experience. Too bad Angie's List can't disassotiate itself from guys like this. They say that they are only a site that provides an opportunity for businesses to advertise their services, and a forum for consumers's to review and inform others of their experiences in dealing with these businesses.

Arrived on time, completed the job ahead of  schedule. Very neat, tidy and professional installation. Small punch list of items for correction that were all sorted the following week
Immediate benefit was the elimination of the musty and damp odor. Only time will tell if all basement flooding issues are resolved, but based on the installation I would expect so and Rescon's warranty covers rectification of any water ingress.
Post install follow up was as expected.

Although we had two other alternatives to Rescon for the work, we were most impressed with the professionalism of Rescon's representatives and office staff.  That is why we chose Rescon and our expectations were entirely fulfilled, which is why we decided to stay with them for a five-year service contract. Their workmen were prompt, professional, clearly explained what they were doing, the office representative was friendly and efficient, sending out bills and receipts as attachments to emails, as we had requested, and the work was neat and complete and has solved the original problem.  I would enthusiastically recommend this company.

Bruno showed up for his scheduled appt on time. I explained the scope of the project was to remove and pour a new basement cement floor and that I targeted the following spring to do the work. I wanted the estimate in advance because I knew it would be an expensive job and needed to budget in order to have the work done. After 2 mths of chasing Bruno for the estimate I gave up and told him to forget the estimate.

We hired Mike Burgess to perform a basement renovation of an 18 year-old home.  Mike is the consummate problem-solver who sees the big picture as well as the smallest detail and provides the perfect solution for everything.  All of his crews from the framers, plasters, electrician, carpenters, were punctual, hard-working, highly skilled and left the work place immaculate at the close of every work day.  We are beyond happy with the finished product, which looks as if we paid twice what we actually did.  We can highly recommend this company without reservation.

Their estimate was for $27000.  We did not hire them and we are not really considering anymore addition at this time.  The only reason why we did not hire them was because the estimate was higher than what we expected.  Overall they were the only ones that we had over to do an estimate.  We will not be considering using them in the future.

Overall the system seems to be working. The person in charge has not sent a receipt for the work (he claims he didn't have one in the truck), which seems important since the company promises a lifetime warranty on the system. I will be on the phone again on Monday. Add that to the guy on the crew who spent 15 minutes screaming into his cellphone as he walked through my neighborhood, and I seriously doubt I will ever deal with the company again.

Peter Farmer came out and stripped off and replaced 2/3 clapboard on the home down to the bare wood where it had rotted. They needed to replace the insulation and moisture barrier too. They replaced 6 huge picture windows and they got all of this done in 2 months. I did notice some water marks on the ceiling of the upstairs, so Peter put a new roof as well. We also got Peter to add on an addition to our home. We did tear down a sunroom and it was on stilts and he ended up making three levels and ended up making an office for me and another for my husband. At the basement level there is a storage room now too. I would recommend him to others.
