Foundation Repair reviews in Framingham

  • Her (Initial contact and communication): Rene was great with our basement lally column work. We contacted him for repair/replacement of the lally columns in our basement which were badly rusting, and he was great to work with from beginning to end. His response time to our initial inquiry was quick and it was obvious after speaking with him that he was an expert at the work needed. His preferred method of communication is by phone but he emailed his proposal to us which we signed and emailed back after multiple conversations about the condition of the lally columns and looking at photographs we emailed to him. He is very friendly and explained the lally column issue so we understood what needed to be done and kept us updated on the timeline for completion all along (which surprisingly was much shorter than expected). His proposal was higher than a couple other contractor proposals received, but we felt like he cared about the work (whereas we felt a bit uneasy about the other contractors), would do a better job than the other contractors, and appreciated that he insisted, as much as we did, on getting a permit from the City for the work (unlike one of the other contractors). I also appreciated his tidiness; whenever he left for the day, the work areas were always picked up. Him (Interactions throughout work on site): From the first visit it was clear that Rene was the most competent of the 4 contractors that gave us an estimate. He insisted on using the best quality materials available, clearly explained and demonstrated the superiority of said materials and his approach to the job. Rene took obvious pride in his work and was cheerful and delightful to discuss the job and other things while regularly explaining the work schedule. He indicated times when he would arrive and what to expect and then he actually showed up and did the work as promised. While completing the agreed upon work, Rene had to make some adjustments to the initial estimate based on re-evaluating the situation on site. He also noted a couple minor problems that he fixed at no additional charge (he fixed a hinge on the basement entry door, put some insulation on the sill above the bulkhead stairs, and sealed holes in the concrete stairs that were there for crane transport and placement). Rene even hauled off an old washer and dryer for us, as well as some concrete footings another contractor had negligently left behind after a previous deck replacement. Thanks to Rene, I’ve been too busy getting back to enjoying my basement “man cave” again so it took me a couple weeks to write these lines. Call Rene and you won’t be disappointed if you prefer quality materials, craftsmanship, honesty, good communication, and punctuality. If only all contractors were as professional.

  • Very well. When they looked at our problem he said it could be fixed with a sump pump, plus having a French drain already installed was a plus as they could feed the output from the pump into it. We have not had a drop of water in the basement since CMS did the work!

  • After calling 5 foundation repair companies, I chose Drycrete Waterproofing. They weren't the cheapest (nor the most expensive). Jason was extremely professional. He was the only company that noticed a crack around the gas pipe (it was small, but with time, could grow larger). He was prompt when he came to give me the estimate and called when he promised to set up the appointment. I was pleasantly surprised that he also worked on Saturdays! He told me up front that he would be bringing two guys with him, but he would also be there while the crack around the gas pipe was filled. He fulfilled all promises.
Jason was a pleasure to work with. I felt he was honest. He even helped me out with something that was outside the scope of his work. He also called after the job was completed to make sure we were satisfied and to let him know if we had any questions or concerns. There is also a lifetime warranty on the job and product.
I would recommend Jason and Drycrete Waterproofing for any wet basement issues.

  • After having some old poured concrete steps removed from the front entry of the house, we discovered extensive rot. (not surprising). We got a few quotes from contractors to repair the damage. Since the floor joists in the house run parallel to the front of the house, the standard jacking technique of lifting the joists from the basement to support the outside wall of the house while replacing the sill and band joist isn't possible. Supporting the house while repairing the sill becomes more difficult and less straightforward. Because of these complexities, we went with MJ Murphy Structural, since they have been doing beam and sill replacements for 25 years. Their quote was the most expensive. They were able to get to the project in a little over a week. They removed the rotted wood and replaced it with a new PT sill and end joist. They re-sheathed the affected section with PT planks, installed tar paper, and copper flashing where the new steps are going to be placed. Since the foundation wasn't level, they also added some mortar under the new sill to fill the gap. The extent of the rot, and the ability of the house to be supported by it's wall sole plate, made their job much easier than I was expecting. I was given an estimate of 14 hours of work, but it took them 4 hours. I don't know if they gave me a worse case scenario for the effort, or if they just wanted to make their rate seem more reasonable by implying it was more work than it really was. To be fair, maybe it was less work for them than it would have been for someone less experienced in this type of work. I think their work was good, but feel they should have offered a price break since it took them 1/2 day to do the work they told me would take 2 days.

  • We called several places to come and look at the work but this place was the one that we had the best feeling about. The estimate was thorough and included some things other had overlooked that were major concerns of ours. We knew we wanted it done right and we found this company does. Their attention to detail was apparent from their first visit. The work done was beyond satisfactory. They receive my full recommendation!

  • It turned out that the company wasn't quite what I was looking for (they do foundation repairs, but I needed someone to level a sunken slab, whereas my foundation was still level), but nevertheless they were absolutely great.I called them on Thursday and they gave me an appointment for the Tuesday after. In the meantime, they sent me a (very big) brochure by mail, explaining in detail what they do and the pros and cons of various foundation fixing methods. They called me back to confirm the appointment, and Andy, the person who came out to my house was very nice and on time.Instead of trying to sell me something I don't need, he immediately told me that I should rather be looking for a company that levels floors, and gave me some tips on what to look for, and what price range to expect from them. All in all, very good experience. The office stuff takes very much care for details, and the person who came out to my house was very helpful. If I should ever have a real foundation issue, they would definitely be the first ones I'd call.

  • He didn't charge me anything. He never contacted me again after he came out. I called him and asked him about it, but he didn't call me back. If he didn't want to do the work, I wish he would have just called me instead of leaving me waiting on him. He was polite when he came out, and I liked him. I was looking forward to see what he was going to offer me. I am not happy with him for not getting back to me. I have no idea what his work is like, it may be wonderful. My issue is that he didn't get back to me. I don't consider it professional not to respond. I would like to have an explaination from him in regards to why he didn't get back with me.
