    Clapper's Home & Hearth Inc
Everything was great! Rob was very easy to work with and very knowledgeable. Having him coordinate all of the other pieces of the install and for it all to happen on the same day was super helpful. Would definitely work with him again!

Jim and Johnny were great!  Very professional and knowledgeable.  They started / finished the project exactly when they said they would....price was reasonable.  I've been using my fireplace quite bit since the project was completed and it's working great!  I highly recommend Ash Go.

Johnny was awesome -- he was very polite, communicated timing and explained everything to me as he went through. By the time he was finished, my fireplaces were clean and clear, and I knew what I needed to do next to take care of the house. He was fabulous!

Although the price was right on the outdoor kitchen, the installation was horrible.  The granite was laid without leveling it and the seams are separating and cracking.  A few pieces of granite  have holes in them and a corner has cracked because it was not level when it was laid.  The cost was $7000.  I complained about it in the early fall.  They said they come and fix it.  I assumed they'd do that in the spring.  So I went ahead and used them for my indoor kitchen granite replacement and tiling  This job cost was also $7000.  The quality of the kitchen granite is good, but the tile job was less than professional.  They installed a tile picture frame on the wall as a focal point and one piece slightly crooked (so of course that's all I see) and a few pieces of tile are pressed in too deep.  My amateur son-in-law does much better work!

At the time they were finishing the kitchen, I gave them an additional $750 deposit to cap a stone wall.  I had to chase them and chase them until they finally showed up with the cap for the wall, but it was the wrong finish and not the sample I  showed them.  So I stopped the install. When I spoke to the owner Eddie about it - he said it was honed because that's what he wrote down.  I said that's not what I ordered.  I don't know what honed is or not honed.  I know what I gave him for a sample (that came from his own granite yard!  I've not heard from them since.

About a month, I went to the showroom and spoke to a woman named Heather about how unhappy I am with Stoneworks for not following up with the cap on the wall (and now they've created a huge mess because they spread the mortar which has now dried) and for not following up on fixing  the outdoor kitchen and not capping the wall. She was fantastic and gave me every reason to think they'd finally call me and take care of the wall cap and outdoor kitchen.  She promised to get back to me within a week - nothing!  So it seems that I am going to have to  report them to the Attorney General's office and take them to small claims court to get fair treatment.

    Complete Chimney Service Inc
Went well.  They did a fantastic job cleaning both fireplaces and gave me their honest opinion of the cost involved to repair the fireplace and flute.  Excellent job and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

    Master Chimney Sweepers
The work and result went smoothly, aside from a glitch with the permit for the work.
The individual who assessed the job suggested that a permit was not required because it was a replacement of pre-existing.
Before the work was to take place, I called the town inspector who contradicted that statement.
Upon informing the Master Chimney Sweeps individual, I was told that I would be responsible for all required permitting and that the install schedule was at risk because a delay waiting for the permit would cause it to be pushed out to the following month.
I had a roof replacement scheduled for the following day so this threw me for a loop!
I subsequently took time off from work and ran down to the town inspector and applied for the permit. The following day (one day prior to chimney install)  the paperwork was ready for pickup at the town office.  I was again required to take time to get the paperwork at the town office for the contractor to sign because the Master Chimney Sweep individual said dealing with town permitting was a "waste of his time" and against company policy. What about mine???
HE could have been much more accommodating to make the process and my effort easier.
I was told I could meet him at their office that morning to obtain his signature.
When I arrived at the office with the paperwork, he had already departed.
I had to chase him down at another job site to get his signature.
I was made to feel that it was MY fault that I had missed him.
After that, the he arrived to do the work and just left him alone because I was somewhat miffed and didn't want a confrontation on top of what I'd already gone through.
The chimney has been working effectively since then, but I wish I could say that it had been a more pleasant experience.
Definitely get the details about permitting before scheduling these guys for work.

We actually found Lunkers through a good review on Yelp and we drove out there very late in February to get a more efficient wood stove. This was quite late in the wood stove season and there wasn't a lot of selection in the store but Nuno helped us look through all the catalogs and explained in detail the features of all the makes and models in our price range. He explained the installation process and the permitting that would be required. He then offered to sell us a floor model that he had and was trying to get rid of to make way for summer merchandise. It was a little more than we had originally intended to spend but not a lot and it was a MUCH better stove too. We only debated a short while before taking Nuno up on the offer.
On the day of the installation Nuno and an assistant (whose name escapes me) laid down vinyl-backed runners to protect my floors and carpets. They quickly disassembled the stove pipe from the old stove and brought in a nifty motorized dolly to lift the massive thing and wheel it out of the house. The dolly had a motorized lift to get up and down my porch stairs while carrying a 300 lb stove without damaging the wood. I was impressed. They brought the new stove in the same way, with the finish protected by cardboard. The installation went quickly and Nuno told me exactly how to operate the new stove and how it differed from the old one. He gave me the owner's manuals and a bag of 20 fire starter bricks

It has been great. We like them. They came when they said they were supposed to. They were pet friendly which is important for us because we have dogs. We had an ice sheet come down and take off the chimney. They came out and helped us with that.

    Context Studios LLC
During the design phase, the Context Studios architect was very helpful in developing multiple conceptual ideas for us to mull over. Context Studios came up with four very different looks to the designs within 2 weeks. Context Studios was very cognizant of how the design would blend with the exterior of the house. All four of the potential designs blended in with the existing structure. The discussions were very inclusive of our lifestyle and how we perceived to live in the new space. The final design moving forward included very modern elements and also corrected the functional needs. The results were a very inviting space. Context Studios designed and managed the construction of a room with a lofted ceiling, windows at the top, a new fireplace, French doors, and some extra heating units. We had a $ figure in mind and they worked with us to stay in budget. Once our plans were approved and necessary permits obtained we started construction. Context placed plywood and plastic up over doorways to seal off the rest of the house from the construction area to minimize loss of heat and dust traveling. They were on the site every day there was work going on. If a new contractor was coming to the house, they were here to make sure everyone was on the same page. Context coordinated the design and installation of custom cabinets, shelving and mantle. We met with them at our house and came up with something a little different. The mantle and shelving are one of the features that make the room. Context has local, reputable contractors they work with and, all in all, they were all great. We did have an issue with one contractor, but Context took care of the situation immediately. The crews always cleaned up at the end of the day and were respectful of our home and us. The scheduling of the contractors was done such that we didn?t have much down time waiting for the next crew to start. When something unexpected came up during the course of the job, they always found a solution, and with a positive attitude. If we had to contact them, they were usually available, and if not, got back to us quickly. The outcome was absolutely magnificent! Sun now pours in the room via the clerestory lights! We now have a warm inviting place for our family and friends. Everyone is amazed at the transformation. Additionally, Context Studios designed and installed a remodeled Master Bath, which transformed a cramped dated bathroom into a modern, light, spacious and functional bathroom utilizing an unused non-functional closet space.

As background, my family has been in the construction business for 50+ years and I have been around half a dozen masons for the last 30. I could tell that Bob was old school and knew what he was talking about. I have a fireplace in my house that smokes when first started. Mr. Gibson identified a number of issues pretty quickly. He quoted me an approximate price and we agreed that he could start the job in a couple of weeks. He is polite and professional but doesn't stand around-he gets right into the work. He did not make any design decisions for us, so it is important to have a good idea of what you want ahead of time. Maybe he would assist in this if asked, but we knew what we wanted. Basically he demoed the brick facade, raised the firebox 6"(to aid in draft)installed a new flue, and rebuilt the facade using 4-6 inch Pennsylvania fieldstone's. He lowered the lentil and closed the fireplace opening somewhat to improve draft. Last, he installed a new one piece stone hearth. I installed a new natural wood mantle-it came out great.
