    Phalan Construction & The Handyman
We really enjoyed working with Bob. We are mostly DYI people with little experience hiring out work and found him professional, reliable, and hard working. He was an excellent guide as to our choices along the way, presenting a variety of options and prices. He kept us informed to the cost, and in any work requiring more than expected we had clear explanations. He is prompt and responds quickly to texts or calls. His work is solid with attention to detail, and he has a wide array of skills. He's worked hard to build his business and it shows.

    Dalto's Construction Inc
I initially contacted six companies to get estimates for a driveway repair. Dalto's Construction was the only company that emailed me back within a day. They measured the driveway very carefully and explained the work to be performed in detail. Later that day I received a written estimate from Dalto's Construction that included the permit costs.  I had to wait for two weeks to get the estimates from the other companies to compared prices. One company did not bother to measure the area and two others just gave me final oral estimates on the spot which were never followed by written estimates.  The estimate from Dalto's Construction was average but I decided to go with them because of their prompt response and professionalism.  They scheduled the repair such that the work could be completed by Friday and we could use the driveway by Monday. This was nice of them because I originally asked them to start on Friday which would have meant that they would have torn apart the driveway on Friday, pave it on Monday, and have the driveway ready to use by Thursday.  The day of the work we asked for minor changes on the driveway design which they were happy to accommodate. The work was done expediently and the area was left clean. The workers were very polite and willing to answer questions. We were very pleased with the results.  The driveway looks outstanding! I highly recommend Dalto's Construction for any paving work!

    Scarlett Chimney & Construction
They arrived when expected and worked hard. Upon getting into the areas they were repairing they came across more issues and it took them longer than expected, but the price did not change. They worked cleanly inside and out and cleaned up with no messes left behind. Would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone.

    Hawkeye Landscape Corp
Rich is really good.  I spent about $2600 on pre-cast steps and landscaping and his price was cheaper than other competitors. He did a good job and it looks nice. He's a local guy, very reliable, friendly and trustworthy. He had a website, he's been doing it for a while and he has good reviews.

    McNulty Construction
McNulty had been recommended to us by a neighbor and they were our preferred bidder. From the start we were attracted to their professionalism and no-nonsense approach. However McNulty's price was the highest of the three we received. Even with the walkway deleted the paving work was about 25% higher than the next bidder. In the end, although we preferred McNulty based on the recommendation and our experience with their quotation, we could not overcome the higher price.

    JD Masonry LLC
After the winter thaw, the cement on our front steps was crumbling away, leaving bricks along the edges of the steps dangerously loose. We called JD Masonry and got an immediate response from John Darling, who came out to assess the damage. He was personable and professional and sent us an estimate within days. We had another company come out to quote on the job, but decided to go with JD. The time between booking them and the actual work was three weeks, which I thought was very reasonable.
On the scheduled day, the crew of two arrived on time. They were very polite, very industrious and did a good and professional job of repairing the steps. Cement work creates a lot of fine dust, which got all over our shrubs and some decorative fixtures. The following day, two other workmen came back and cleaned the steps and fixtures and put the fixtures back in  place.
We were informed how to prepare the steps and care for them next winter to prevent water from seeping into the cement and freezing, which caused the damage in the first place.
Very happy with this vendor. Would definitely use again and recommend them.

    McNulty Construction
After phoning McNulty Construction we were informed by the office that some one would come by to look at the area where we wanted to extend our driveway. They said this person would not need to see us. The person never rang the bell even though somebody was home at all times during the time span when they said they would be here. We wanted to point out a large rock in the area that might be difficult to remove or need to have a rock splitter deal with it.

After several days we received an estimate in the mail. Even though the estimate was not the highest we decided that we didn't want to deal with this company. As the homeowners we wanted to be able to express our concerns and needs in person. They were the only company that did not interview us at the site to address our problem. We got the feeling that they really were not interested in the job. It struck us as an unprofessional approach.

Our house has sunken floor (slab), with the foundation still being perfectly okay. We were looking for someone to level the floor for us, and Bautista came out to take a look. He pointed out that the best way to solve this is to remove the slab and pour a new one, which I agree with, but he also understood that we're not willing to do that at this point, since all we need for now is a level floor. He suggested pouring concrete on top, and explained the process in detail, making sure to also point out that the added weight might be a risk factor.I feel that he took care to explain everything in detail, explaining the pros and cons, and then left to provide us with an estimate soon. The appointment for the appraisal was Friday evening, and we got the appraisal by Monday afternoon, which I think was very speedy. The price quoted was very reasonable, but we had decided over the weekend to install a wooden sub floor throughout the house instead, so we had to say "no" to them (which of course is entirely our "fault" and has nothing to do with their work).

    Johnston Paving Company Inc
The biggest thing is that Scott, the owner, was out with his crew while they were doing the driveway. They came when they said they would and got the job done in a timely manner with a lot of attention to detail. Everybody seemed to be professional and friendly. We could communicate with them if we needed to because of this. I think Scott knows exactly what he is doing. He gave me a reasonable price and thanked me for my business. The only downside to him is that when he comes with an estimate he is always late, but for the job he was right on time.

It went great-- Eder was unbelivably responsive and helpful. We've dealt with many many contractors with our house and Bautista ranks among the 2 or 3 best. Eder and his dad were easy to work with and we like the results. The driveway was done almost a month ago, the back wall just a few days ago.
