    Pioneer Basement
I had the estimate for the work done which went fine, then called to book the appointment. Was required to put down $200 for the $650 projected repair cost. I did this thinking there would be no issues between then and the repair date. My wife is quite pregnant and we had to move up the repair date to get the nursery ready in time for their birth. (twins) When I called to cancel this appointment and seek a refund of the $200, I was told that the window to cancel was 3 days from the scheduling and that I was forfeit my deposit. This information is in the contract, but I did not catch it at the time. I could only imagine if this were a bigger project and something like this happened to someone else. For the cost of $200 Pioneer Basement has not only lost me as a future customer, but forced my hand in posting several poor reviews such as this one. For any future customers, pay very close attention to this and hope "life" doesn't happen to you in between. Good luck.

    Concrete Masonry Solutions
Very well. When they looked at our problem he said it could be fixed with a sump pump, plus having a French drain already installed was a plus as they could feed the output from the pump into it. We have not had a drop of water in the basement since CMS did the work!

    MA Design & Construction Co
Some parts of the job came out great, others I had to redo myself as they continuously failed to return calls or appear on their scheduled times to address the issues. Throughout the work the teams would also often not show up for weeks on end or would leave abruptly. Job was supposed to take 3 days but was barely completed in about 2 months.

    B-Dry System M/E Inc
We couldn't be happier with the work B-Dry did. They were on time, professional, answered all of our questions, kept our basement clean, and understood that after their project we would be refinishing our basement. They put in a french drain, new sump pump system, along with a backup battery. They were the best price around, and really worked with our schedule. We would definitely use them again if need be, and definitely recommend them.

    Handy Randy Services
I contacted Handy Randy Services, after my basement flooded. I am so glad I did!

My basement had flooded on a Saturday, on Sunday after my plumber repaired my water heater. I emailed Handy Randy. Monday morning Mike, came out assessed the damages and explained the process to get my basement back.
I was worried that we were going to have people in my house for months, but Mike and his crew were in and out in six days!!! Not only was Handy Randy fast but the work was incredible. My basement bathroom is now nicer than my master bathroom! I would definitely recommend these guys! Worth EVERY PENNY!

    Bulkhead Doors Inc
I was having water leak into my basement through the basement door during heavy rains. I wasn't sure if there was a leak in the concrete or the metal bulkhead door on top, so I had some people check it out. I made the mistake of calling bulkhead door companies and of course their take is and quot;the concrete is fine, what you need is a new bulkhead door because the sealant has failedand quot;. So I went with Leo and the installation was fine, but my basement has flooded twice within 6 weeks since that time. Apparently the problem was with the bulkhead stairs concrete after all. Leo is a good guy and referred me to a friend but unfortunately that friend didn't return my call after a brief conversation. If you want a new bulkhead door, go with Leo. If you want a better assessment of a problem you're having, go with someone else.

    Bertola Custom Homes & Remodeling
Joe was able to schedule our initial appointment very quickly after we contacted him.  He was able to send us a quote within 24 hours.  Joe's quote was very complete and itemized everything we discussed.  Joe had some great ideas for how to hide the columns, oil tank, radon equipment, furnace, sump pumps, etc in closets.  Joe's company also installed a ductless system (in the basement as well as on the other two levels of the house), built several closets for storage, replaced all doors and windows, installed a new floor, walls, ceiling, lights, etc.  We showed Joe a picture of the laundry closet we saw on-line from another website, and Joe was able to duplicate it perfectly. Joe was always available via email, text and telephone to go over any issues, problems, questions, etc.  Any issues we had, Joe was able to resolve quickly.  Joe has a team of very experienced and professional workers (electricians, plumbers, painters, carpenters, etc.). Joe added some extra small improvements at no charge to us, because he knew we had gone over budget (due to some unexpected costs/complications), and didn't want to "nickel and dime" us, to get some extra improvements taken care of.  Joe takes a lot of pride in his work and wanted to make sure the job was done the right way.  My husband and I are very pleased with the final result of the basement, it looks beautiful and we can't wait to start using it.  We will definitely recommend Bertola Custom Homes & Remodeling to our neighbors, family, friends, co-workers, etc.  We plan to hire Bertola Custom Homes and Remodeling for future projects because we know we will receive the same excellent job, attention to detail, fair pricing and level of comfort,  that we received on this basement project. Thanks again Joe... you and your team did an awesome job! :)

    Drycrete Waterproofing
I first spoke with Jason to get the appointment and then Mike came out to inspect and give an estimate. To start, I was appreciative that Mike gave me a written estimate within 30 minutes. So often I have a company come out to my house, the appointment takes too long, and then I don't even get an estimate at the of it. So, that was great.
When I decided to hire based on other estimate comparisons I was able to get an early appointment and they showed up with a crew to get everything done in one afternoon. Jason was keen on making sure the work was quality and was best suited for our situation. For example, to ensure that any water pumped out the house in the future would drain away from the home he to take the grade into consideration.  Rather than risking it coming back inside by have the pump water go the back yard which grades towards the house, and an easier approach for them since I wanted the pump in the back of the house, Jason ran quite a bit extra PVC piping across the floor joists for the length of the house. This way the water will pump out to the front yard, which slopes away from the house. He put the pipe in a spot where it's easily hidden. He did not charge me extra for this even though they used far more material than a typical
When digging the window wells they ran into more than dirt next to the foundation (concrete, rocks, who knows what the previous owners did there) and had to work at digging one window well. I need to have a carpenter fix my window frame since it's water damaged, but Mike put in the time to give some exterior patches so I will not have to worry about water getting in until I have a carpenter out here.
I'm pleased and am glad to give the work to a local company where the owners are on site themselves.

    Value Dry
I called to get a "Free" estimate on a rather urgent matter (water in the basement), and was told "Per Value Dry Policy" unless my wife was present during the estimate that i would be charged $150 for the visit.  This was for an investment property that I own and manage with little to no involvement from my wife.  Both my wife and I work and have 2 kids in day care, so the likely hood of us BOTH being available would be slim to none and their ability to not understand and accommodate that was sad.

    ALL PRO WATERPROOFING
The work was started on-time and completed on-schedule.  However, a few weeks after the install, it appeared that the system was not purging water.  An engineer working for the company came and found several problems with the installation.  They ha to return and fix the problems.  The problems were resolved and the system operated correctly for the next 5 years.  Last year (2012), it was becoming clear the system was no longer purging water.  I noticed evidence of moisture directly above the submerged French drains.  I called them, trying several times.  Each time, I reached only the answering machine leaving 2 messages several days apart.  There was no response.  I believe the company is out of business.
