    Sierra Mountain Tree Service
Jay did a nice job overall. He was able to get it completed within a week, although he did have a delay after breaking some stump grinding parts. He kept me in the loop throughout. Price was in line with other bids. He offered to get through my stockade fence so as not to disturb my neighbor, which I appreciated. Ground down a huge stump, along with a few smaller stumps and pulled up a few bushes.

    Pinette Landscaping and Property Services
"We pick up where others leave off" That motto, along with great reviews on this site "sealed the deal" for me. I had been left in a mess, a half-completed project started by someone who did not finish. Carl was responsive, honest and completely trustworthy--3 traits not always seen when hiring people for various projects. I am completely satisfied and would not hesitate to work with him again.

    Sierra Mountain Tree Service
Jay came and gave me a good quote back in beginning of June. Told me it would be at most 2 weeks until he could come out and do the job. Gave him three weeks and contacted him and he said it would be another week until he could come out due to delays in other jobs (this was on 6/29/17). It is now the end of July and Jay has been a no-show. Very unprofessional in follow-up and communication. Not the way to run any business.

    Pinette Landscaping and Property Services
Carl came in the morning setting up his ladder to remove all the leaves from the gutters. They were jam packed full and Carl did an excellent job of getting them all out. He even did one of the overhangs on one of the porches that was not a part of the overall price and removed the leaves from that. He also removed the leaves from the sidewalks and outside decks. He was very good at what he did. In fact I have setup to do my gutters next year. He is also going to give me a price to remove the leaves from the yard.

    CRW LANDSCAPES INC
We are very impressed with Chris and his team! Chris was prompt, gave us an affordable estimate for his services, stayed on budget, and always got back to us quickly. He even followed up on his work after a particularly heavy downpour and sent his guys over to re-seed some areas. We would definitely recommend this company to others! CRW goes above and beyond the other landscape companies by far!

    John K Somers Surveyor
John was incredibly thorough.  The first time he came out he found where he thought the markers were, then went back to the office to do the calculations to compare that to the information that was on file on the lot dimensions.  He came back a couple of days later and put fresh tape and stakes on corners and lines of the property.  I was very pleased with how thorough he was.  Turns out that about 10% of 'my' back yard is in the neighbor's lot.  I'm glad I found that out before putting the fence in.

    Hartley Bros Landscaping Inc
We had Hartley Borthers come out to do an estimate in the middle of Aug, they said they would get it to us in writing in a week and we got it about two weeks later. At that time they estimated the project would take 3-4 weeks and that they could start right away. Their proposal added some interesting touches, better lighting, larger bar, nice fire pit, and more paver area. Of the 3 proposals we got Hartley offered the most for a bit less money.
Hartley ended up starting around the 4th of Sept. At that time I told them to book the plumber and book the electrian since I didn't want to have to worry about scheduling them to be there when Hartley needed them. Work moved quickly at first and they held to the agreed upon payment schedule with few issues. The work was good quality and things were going well.
Then the issues started. They conitnued to not get a plumber out to the job and they kept holding off on bringing in the electrician. There was absolutley no reason the electrician could not have been out there in the first week to tap in to our electrical system and run it outside but he wasn't brought in till the end. Finally I had to hire a plumber myself since Hartley could not get someone to the job.
They also screwed up the math on the final counter and bar heights in relationship to the pavers. The countertop has 3-4 inches too low and so was the bar height. This is critical when buying chairs and stools. This all had to be corrected after the fact hurting some of the work and design IMO.
This all brings us to two things, time and money. About 9 weeks in to the job, yes you read that right 9 weeks in to a and quot;3-4 weekand quot; job, and they weren't finished yet they started to press me for final payment. The contract clearly stated no final payment until the job was done and there were still 5-10 parts that needed to be finished. They told me they had bills they had to pay, insurance they needed to pay, and payroll they needed to make. I told him I will put that check in your hand the second you finish just like the contract says and you are NOT finished. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine from builders of all types. All to often they take money from their next job to cover their current job. If you end up being the last job of the season like we were or they hit a slow patch during your job their cash flow goes to $0 and they can't finish the job.
At this point they started to rush to get things done as they needed payment. Part of the job included removing some rocks, a rock wall and bobcat work. This job was rushed and poorly done. A large rock that was supposed to be covered is no sticking through the dirt and needs to be fixed. The seeding ended up being to late to grow and we were left with a bad impression of the whole job.
11 weeks after the first payment was made and 13 weeks after they came out to look at the yard our and quot;3-4 weeksand quot; project was done. It was obvisous to us that they under priced the job, under estimated the time, and have company cash flow problems all leading to a very poor ending impression for us.
It is too bad the good work was tainted by horrendous book keeping and business management, but sadly these tactics aren't uncommon in the building trade.

    FAMILY LANDSCAPING & LAWNCARE
Owner Richard was prompt, responsive, easy to work with and we felt like he really cared about how our gardening results turned out. We added some aspects of the project after the original quote, and he was very accomodating. Quote and all aspects of service was prompt, and the entire experience was a good one, thank goodness. We definitely recommend this landscaping business to anyone in the Western MA area.

    DE CARO BROTHERS LANDSCAPING
Our weekly landscaper, Joe Petronaro recommended the DeCaro Brothers when we needed some large scale work done. Frank DeCaro came out to provide estimate. His knowledge of landscaping and suggestions helped us decide that he was the right provider and he was local too! We had a large line of hedges removed, roots and all by another provider right near our inground pool so that we could install fencing. Frank made suggestions about grading to ensure our slope from pool to property line was not too high causing run off or loss of soil from our property to neighbors. Our neighbors had a very large depression on their property that needed fill, so there job and ours was coordinated together for cost savings to our neighbor and use of our property while it was all torn up.  Joe DeCaro and his crew showed up on time and he has a group of hard workers.  They completed the grading and removal of roots and debris so that fence could be installed.  They returned after fence installation, regraded, filled in neighbors depression, seeded, and hauled in by hand to backyard two loads of landscaping rocks to match our existing rocks surrounding pool area. Also added some large patio blocks from pool to gate over rocks for nice walk area. Before leaving, took additional yard debris and helped move a very heavy picnic table.  Joe and Frank were a pleasure to work. Local company, good price for all the work completed, and we would recommended them in a heartbeat.

    STUMP BE GONE
After purchasing our new residence, we found 7 old and decaying stumps of various sizes hidden under or behind landscaping. To tone down some of the areas, we needed to remove the stumps. Tom was recommended by Tree Corp who was doing other work for us. Tom showed up quickly and provided us with the estimate. We approved and he scheduled within 3 days. He showed up on time and with a helper. He worked quickly throughout the property and each area was leveled and cleaned. Tom is a humble and personable man who works hard and clearly wanted to ensure we were happy with his work. Indeed we are and would recommend him to others!
