It was refreshing to have such a caring group of people for a traditional chimney cleaning service. Most of these guys just do the job and leave, but these guys are very friendly and offered us a nice chat while they were working.

Got a call that I needed to do my yearly cleaning at a great offer, and accepted the great special these guys were running. The technician was able to do the sweep and recommended that we get waterproofing. Being scrupolus over a company that had cold called, me I jumped on the internet and started to do some research. I heard nothing but good things and paid them with a check. The workers were very clean and professional,  would recommend them to anyone in the need of chimney work.

These guys did an EXCELLENT job from start to finish. The chimney needed repair, and upon tear down it was discovered that the flu was cracked and showed evidence of a chimney fire that had led to the water leakage/damage. Loving the moisture, thousands  upon thousands of carpenter ants were eating the side of my house. They called and used an exterminator they contact when necessary , who worked the chimney and the entire house area  to get rid of the pests. They replaced/rebuilt  the damaged wood/framing and built the chimney from the foundation up, replaced the flue, poured a new cap, and the flashing. They did a fine clean up job as well.
This was all done during the July 2013 heat wave,  with almost every day reaching 95 degrees and high humidity. They worked long hours each day  and on Saturday..  They were  prompt, courteous, and no doubt excel in their trade based on the results. The price was reasonable considering the amount of labor and materials required for this job, and i would highly recommend Chris and his company for your masonry and chimney needs.

    ABE CHIMNEY
We used Mike back in 1995/1996 at our previous residence to install a rain cap for our chimney due to leaking into basement from rain. For the 16 years we were there, not one problem with the cap or any leaking into chimney, so when we moved to our new residence, we called on Mike to clean our new fireplace/chimney before we started using it. We knew the damper was problematic per the previous owners and once he did his assessment, he was able to offer a solution by removing the old damper and installing the combo rain cap (there was none at this house too!) and damper along with a full clean. Mike scheduled promptly and showed up on time. He put down tarps in living room, did the full clean, installed the rain cap, removed the yucky and corroded damper all while it was raining heavily. Once done, he showed me how easy it was to operate, when to clean chamber, and that we were all set to use fireplace. Mike is very personable, has many many references, and we can attest that his service and workmenship stands the test of time. Thanks Mike!

    Western Mass Chimney Service
The first conversation I had with Rob Boido, the proprietor, was the only good experience I had. He offered a reasonable estimate for the parts and labor that I needed and scheduled a date to do the work. He failed to show up or call on that date. He failed to return my calls for two days. When I caught him on the phone he offered a very weak excuse and, foolishly, I set up another date for him to do the installation. On that date, he showed up an hour later than he had agreed to...no mystery here...his partner mentioned they had just come from a local sit-down restaurant. Boido also admitted to staying out the night before at a bar watching a ball game that ended very late. The two packed up their gear after installing the chimney liner and connecting the stove promising to return in the afternoon with the heat reflector. Boido assured me that everything would be done and we would be able to use the woodstove that evening if needed. In another foolish move, I paid him the agreed upon price for parts and labor. By 5 pm they had not returned. On the phone he assured me that he would still be able to make it or he would call. Neither happened. The next day he did not answer his phone or return my call. The day after that he promised to return the next evening at 5 with the reflector. He did not, nor did he answer the phone, a cell phone, by the way. The following day I caught him on the phone and insisted on meeting him that morning wherever the heat reflector was located so I could pick it up. He would not agree to this and quickly got off the phone promising to call me right back. I didn't wait long (he still hadn't called an hour later) before I surprised him at home which is also the address listed for the business. He had me follow him across two towns to a shop where he said the parts would be. Instead of a 3 sided reflector, he handed me a single rectangle of 1/8" unpainted metal. He insisted this was all that was required. He denied that he had agreed to a 3 sided piece and he denied that the installation requirements called for that...which they clearly do. He brilliantly pointed out the "heat goes up" as the reason for me not to worry about my woodwork to the sides of the stove. In addition to all this, the chimney was not cleaned prior to the installation nor was a damper plate installed. I paid $350 for the chimney liner (a good price, I think) and $300 for labor (would have been happy with that if he had done the job properly).
