Home Inspection reviews in Everett

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We are in the process of buying a house in Everett, MA. Jackson Home Inspection was very quick in responding to e-mails, especially since we were working on a very tight timeframe. Our inspection was with Josh, and he did a great job. He was very thorough and documented everything well. When I had a question about one item, he quickly e-mailed a response back that answered my question. The house we're planning on buying needs some work, but I feel much more confident in the purchase after walking through every single area with the inspector and watching him test all accessible areas. He also gave some practical advice about what is an immediate danger, and what are warning signs that we should monitor.

  • They had previously inspected a 3 family for me. As that inspection was proceeding, the fellow stopped and asked me if I wanted to keep going- there were numerous problems with the house. I did decide to stop, and he only charged me $300. He was very good, so I came back to them next time around.
$675 seemed a bit steep, but it was well worth it.  The house is stucco, and there is some staining.  Tracey wasn't sure if the stain was necessarilly from water getting behind the stucco.  She consulted with her boss who said it was probable, and included in the report that significant structural damage may be present.  This helped me negotiate the price down $5000. (After the inspection, my builder simply sent in a couple guys who opened up a couple of walls to see if there was damage- none!)  Tracey was great- answered all my questions, gave me a rough idea what certain repairs might cost, clued me in to MassSave Energy loans,  etc.  One thing that she didn't really clue me in on, and probably didn't know, was some problems with the electrical system.  A previous owner had put in a new 220 A service, but done little else, so that practically the whole house was on two circuits. Tracey noted many individual problems with various outlets and switches, but I didn't really get the overall picture.  Otherwise I was very satisfied.  As I learned from another ispector, using a certified home inspector is important.

  • He was very thorough, and not in a hurry to get to the next job. He explained what he found as he went along, and pointed out some concerns, and then reiterated them in the report. The report was very thorough and will be useful not only for the pending purchase of the home, but for future maintainence issues. The use of pictures with arrows pointing to the area discussed within the report made understanding the report very easy, and much more useful. He answered all our questions completely and gave us an understanding of what issue was, and what it possible impact it could have in the future. His availability for follow-up questions is an outstanding added benefit.
