We asked for bids from two other contractors. One blew us off, and the other simply came in way too high. Dave Merrifield, the owner of DLM, came to do the bid himself. He's very professional and personable, and he gave us a price we could live with.
It takes some time to get the windows manufactured and then installation dates tend to shift because of the weather. I understand this all now, but didn't at first. I would have been a bit happier of DLM had been better about updating me as to where they were in the process, maybe a brief weekly email.
DLM showed up promptly at 8am with five people and were done before 2pm, even with their lunch break. Originally, I'd been worried it would take more than one day. They moved what needed to be moved, did their thing, cleaned up, and put things back into reasonable order. We didn't have to do any additional cleanup, which is something I appreciate.
There was one hiccup, they forgot to paint the molding around three of the windows: one basement window, a bathroom window, and the narrow window next to the front door. I spotted the problem with the window next to the door before they left and they quickly remedied that problem. I should have done a walk through and inspected each of the windows before signing off - that's on me. If I had, I would have seen that they'd missed the molding on the basement and bathroom windows as well.
I emailed Dave about the moldings. He assured me that he'd send someone by to paint them.  A couple of weeks later one of his men came by and took care of the problem. (I'd told him it wasn't an urgent matter.)
Here's the bottom line: the windows look great and our electrical bill has been cut almost in half. (Did I say the original windows were really awful?) DLM did a great job and I'd happily recommend them to a friend. In fact I did recommend them to one of my neighbors the other day.

From beginning to end, our experience with MJ Eisenhower Plumbing, Inc. was excellent. Mike was responsive in regard to scheduling service and provided a complete over-the-phone estimate. He was punctual on the day of the appointment. During the appointment, Mike took a thorough approach to each task and clearly explained what work he was doing and why. In particular, he was up front with us that we did not technically need to install a shut-off valve on our second exterior faucet. (We opted to do so for our own peace of mind.) The final service charge was precisely in-line with what he had estimated over the phone. (Pricing was clear and consistent.) Bottom line: We are very happy with Mike's work.

Noff and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with in every respect. He is responsive, professional, efficient and courteous. He listened carefully to everything I was looking to accomplish in finishing our basement and provided very helpful suggestions and alternatives for cost savings throughout the entire project. His estimate was reasonable and he stayed within budget.
Noff is honest, friendly and down to earth and it’s obvious he puts his heart into his work and will go to great lengths to make sure his clients are happy. Most importantly, the quality of the craftsmanship was truly top-notch and every aspect of the project came out really beautifully.
I am extremely satisfied with the end results of the addition, and highly recommend Noff without hesitation for any home improvement or building project. I will definitely use his company again for future projects.

I had used KBA in the past for a skylight leak, and had had a great experience so decided to give Bruce a call and see if he could help with the ice dam damage. I called him on a Friday evening and he was here bright and early Monday morning to assess what was was going on. I have home insurance and would be filing the claim, so Bruce brought his camera and took pictures of the inside and the outside. It was freezing and there was snow all around, but Bruce had his team up there and they got every picture that an adjustor would need. The ice dam was more complicated than expected so we thought it would be a good idea to have the adjustor come out and explain everything to him face to face so that in the end we didn't get penalized for something we were not allowed to do. Bruce took time from his schedule and came over when the adjustor was here and walked him through it all. Bruce made sure that the adjustor understood the repairs that needed to be done in order to resolve the situation. Bruce's #1 priority are his customers and he did not want to see me pay more than I had to for the "mother nature"event. The adjustor that came out ended up switching job so when I got the quote for my claim, it was no where close to what it should have been!! The case had been reassigned and the new adjustor was basing it on the online pictures and knew nothing of the detail that Bruce had gone over with the previous adjustor. Bruce, once again, took the time and called the new adjustor and explained everything to her over the phone and encouraged her to call him with any questions.  She did call him/email and he was quick to respond every time; and in the end all I was left to pay was my deductible.
In the end, the job was completed and everything looks great! However, what is even more important is that through the whole process I new i could rely on Bruce to be there with any questions that i had. He was always a phone call away. The team that came to my house to do the repairs was respectful and polite. They always left the areas worked on clean and tidy as it had been. Bruce would always be there to do inspections along the way to make sure the work was being done as it should be.
As the years go on, I am sure there will be "issues" in the house; and I feel confident tackling them because I know I have a dependable contractor who will get the job done efficiently/perfectly, and in the process will not try and take advantage of me or the situation by any means.

We chose S&W tile based on reviews here on Angie's list and are very glad we did.  Wes came to look at the bathroom within 24 hours of our initial phone call and helped us bounce some ideas around. We found him very friendly and professional and were very at-ease with letting him do work in our home. With clear and simple terms Wes was able to articulate what was needed to be done and his role in the process. In the following weeks of our initial visit,  as other aspects of the bathroom remodel took place, Wes was always available to answer a quick question or two over the phone or email. We were initially planning on using porcelain floor tile but then decided to go with a marble tile and, again, Wes was very clear about how this would effect his initial estimate and some other physical aspects of the job. He was also extremely patient with us as we waited for all the tile to arrive.  When we had all materials on site, Wes came within two days to do the installation. He went straight to work and completed what may take others 3-4 days, inside a day and a half. He did a beautiful job! (I wish I could post pics on Angie's List). Because of Wes' attention to detail, hard work-ethic, and professionalism, I would not hesitate to call him again for another tiling job.

We had a old half bath that needed to be updated. After looking up several contractors, we decided on CJM Builders. At first I had a conversation with Chris Myers and told him what we were looking to have done. He gave a ball park estimate and offered to pick up the new fixtures. He came out to the house and gave a firm price. We had everything delivered to save time. We set a date for the remodel. It was a 2 man job that took about 7 hours. I would definitely use this company again.

He was excellent, he called back any phone calls w had or emails we sent.  We had 1 or 2 problems and and as soon as he got the phone calls he returned them.  He was very easy to work with, a pleasant personality and we were very pleased over all.  He was very thorough, he talked about things before he did them and if he thought something didn't work he would talk to us about it and let it be our decision but he did bring it up.  The price was average.

This is a summer home that has had several "do-it-yourself owners". The resulting structure presented several challenges to renovations. The original estimate did not include some of the problems that were uncovered during demolition. Lac was very skilled at correcting and working around these problems. He was always responsive to questions and patient with changes and add-ons through the coarse of the project.
