    Dave Lane Building and Remodeling
The workmanship was first rate, and the project came in on budget. Dave also had a number of good design ideas along the way. However, the project ended up way behind schedule. Work that should have taken 4 weeks took over 4 months, with long absences along the way. Dave was overcommitted with many projects going on at once, and ours seemed to be a low priority.

    M & M Construction LLC
We had contacted Anthony to try and solve an issue of getting water in our basement during heavy rainstorms.  Anthony was extremely quick to respond to all emails and made time to come out to our home not only once for an initial consultation and quote, but again a second time to do a final run through with both my husband and I.   He was extremely knowledgable about the work that needed to be done and seemed 100% confident in his proposed solution.  I was impressed with how quickly he was able to identify what was wrong and he took the time to clearly explain it to us.  He was also willing to discuss price and tried to really work with us.  Unfortunately, I am expecting our second child any day now and, after receiving the final walk through, we had some complications that forced us to rethink our immediate financial needs. We are frustrated with the timing but had to put priorities in order.  We were extremely impressed with Anthony's professional attitude and wonderful customer service and are hoping to hire him to do the job later in the year!

    Ken Villemaire Basement Waterproofing
HORRIBLE! NIGHTMARE! Mr. Villemaire was hired to waterproof our basement and crawlspace and the day after he "finished", our basement was full of water.  Ken now refuses all responsibility, claiming no guarantee on his work, claiming that he was not hired to waterproof but only 'damp proof' (even though the contract states basement waterproofing), and as of today, claiming that he has a second contract stating we owe him more money!  This is a blatant lie. We are taking Mr. Villemaire to small claims court as we have given him 2 weeks to come and fix his work and he has given us two dates he would come and then backed out on them.
    Here are the details:
Mr. Villemaire was hired on November 17, 2015.  We signed a contract with him for $5,000 and as stated on the contract, paid him $2,500 at the time of hiring and the last $2,500 when the job was completed.  He asked to be paid in cash so he would not have to pay taxes, but we told him we were uncomfortable with that and paid him with checks.
He stated that it would take one week to complete the project, but it ended up taking a week an a half with them coming on a Saturday as well.  They worked from Monday December 14th-Saturday December 19th and then Monday December 21-Wednesday December 23rd. He told us that he is always on the job with his workers but every day when I came home from work, there were men working in the basement with no vehicle here and he was nowhere to be found. He would come back and pick them up later each day. Almost every day, 2 or 3 guys would come and by the middle of the day there would only be one left which is why it took so much longer to do the work. On multiple occasions, Ken complained to my husband about how much work it was turning out to be and how he was going to end up losing money on the deal.
When I handed him the final check on the 23rd, he told me that I couldn't walk on the floor yet because it was wet and needed to dry from the painting.  We were unable to go down in this section of the basement during most of this time as they were applying waterproof epoxy coatings to the floor and walls.  Unfortunately, because of this, it was hard to get a good look at the work as it was progressing.  Throughout the time that Mr. Villemaire and his worker/s were working here, they shut of our HVAC switch which led to a very cold night before we figured it out, left buckets of acetone sitting out that they were cleaning their brushes in (I am 7 months pregnant so this was a concern as the house filled with the fumes), and removed the panel from our hot water tank causing it to no longer function.
The day after he "finished" the work was Christmas Eve.  It had rained the day before so we wanted to go check out our basement and discovered that the floor was covered in water.  So much so, that it had completely washed away the epoxy coating which means that the water had to have been coming in before the epoxy even dried the day/night before.  We have photos and video of it actively coming in from holes that were left open all over the walls.  We called him immediately and he quickly called us liars and denied the possibility of water in our basement.  He told us that he was gone for the holiday and couldn't do anything until the following Wednesday, December 30th.  When we didn't hear from him, we contacted him again and asked for him to tell us when he could come and fix his work.  He stated that he would come the following Monday, January 4th.  My husband took the day off of work to be home.  We texted him the night before and he told us that he wasn't coming because we never confirmed and he's too busy.  Throughout the day today, he has been texting back and forth with us, claiming that he never warrantees his work and that my husband had a secret contract with him that he didn't want me to know about for more money!  The fact that he is willing to lie and fabricate contracts is truly frightening to me but I can only assume it's because we told him we felt we had no other choice than to take him to small claims court.   We have copies of all signed documents and checks and we now have to get our lawyer involved to go to court. For your own sanity, DO NOT HIRE!

    Gary T (Turnberg) Excavating

If you are considering hiring Gary "T" (Turnberg) Excavating .....DON'T DO IT!  I hired him to do a job that was supposed to last one day, two at most.....he did NOT complete in two days, came back another two days then didn't show back up for a few weeks!!! He showed up late EVERY DAY then left early, had a buddy of his stop by for coffee, took long lunch breaks. Not to mention the work that he did was not acceptable - he was supposed to dig up an area for a patio and walkways with proper pitch and grading, properly regrade the backyard and dig for landscaping....needless to say NONE of that was done properly and I have a patio that gets a HUGE water issue with a major puddle on the patio when it rains. I addressed the issue and he is NOT taking any of the responsibility and will not fix it nor will he return a portion of my money. (I paid him in full before it rained and knew that there was a grading issue.) Now I have to hire another person who actually knows how to properly grade a backyard so there is not a water issue on my patio - which will cost me more money. This guy is completely sarcastic, rude and either doesn't care about doing a job properly or he doesn't know how to do his job properly....either way, he could care less and does not stand behind his work at all. He doesn't even bring his own water to a job site and expects the homeowner to supply him with something to drink when he's thirsty. He is also very nosey and snooped in my garage and showed up at my house when I wasn't there without notice or permission.

Now I know why he doesn't advertise his last name "Turnberg" and only addresses himself as "Gary T" He gets two thumbs down and an "F" in my book!

    Rueter Foundation Repair
I had water seeping in where Gas line comes in house. Bob provided me flat rate quote based on our emails and photos i sent him. He showed up early which was fine. He assesed the area and advised me he may not be able to resolve it depeneding on what he found after removing the cement previous owner had patched with. Once he opened the area up he saw he could use his injection method to resolve the issue. I left him to work and he finished the work in about 2 1/2 hrs. Very thorough and cleaned up everything as he wasnt even there. Patch looks great. He has a warranty if it should ever leak he will repair at no cost. Time will tell but I would definitly recomend him. Also he provided me with some sites that had dicsounted rates for his service which was very nice of him.

    Real Dry Waterproofing - Holyoke
Steve came on a Sunday as it wass an emergency my basement had flooded because the sump pump stopped working. He came back Monday morning and fixed it, he was great about showing me and explaining excatly what the issues were and what needed to be done. He also gave me good advice on other things I could do to help without being pushy. He came back on Wednesday and again was great about showing me the work that he did. I would use him again he was very knowlagble.

    Dave Lane Building and Remodeling
The project took a little longer than expected, but Dave and his brother pay attention to the details!!!!!  Any little hiccup they encountered they made right.  They communicated with us on a daily basis.  They cleaned up every day before they left.  We are very happy with the end result and have other projects lined up for them to do. Another thing I was very happy about is they offered suggestions of products if we were not sure and guided us where we needed help in making a decision.  I completely trusted them in my home and often left them to do the work even when I was not there.  They may not be the most inexpensive quote that you receive, but the quality of work, their knowledge, their attention to detail, their open communication and the end product makes hiring them a smart choice!

    D & D Piemonte Concrete Construction
Over two and 1/2 days (over a couple of weeks to let things dry out) Derrick and his brother Drew (D and D) excavated and built drainage system for our poorly draining backyard. This included pipes leading the excess water out to the sewer system, back filling with pea stone and re-loaming the lawn. Once this was complete they poured a medium sized patio including a step up to our sunroom. They were professional, courtious, and answered all of my questions promptly. The price was fair considering the scope of the work. I would definitely use them again if I need any excavation or concrete work done around my house.

    American Waterproofing
They were very responsive and efficient with the task at hand.  They also had to adjust the original plan of attack because of the structure of our basement impeding their ability to get to one of the cracks in the basement wall.  This didn't delay the process or add too much to the price.  We have had intense rain storms since and the problem has been solved.  The owner has many years of experience and he has a very professional and pleasant staff.
