Chimney Cap Repair reviews in Dedham

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • A great experience in all respects. Responsive, friendly, professional, fair price, punctual and did a great clean up job for the one night and at the end of the job. Job took 2 days. A real pleasure. One of the best contractor experiences I've had.

  • My mother's oil-fired steam heat furnace was on its last
    legs.
My family spent some time deciding on oil versus gas.  One
factor was that the bidders told us that a stainless steel flue liner would be
required for a gas furnace.  Since we were not sure if a liner was
installed or what its condition was, we needed an inspection.  The heating
contractor we hired (Roscia Plumbing and Heating) recommended Downeast chimney
sweep, so we hired them for the inspection.  (See my previous review of Downeast
Chimney Sweep for a description of that job.)
      The chimney liner was badly
damaged and had to be removed.  We asked Downeast
for a price for a new liner.  He bid
$2200.  With the 10% coupon we got from
Angie?s List, that made the price slightly less than $2000.  Part of the work also was to correct an
incorrect flue arrangement for the gas water heater.
Once we selected Roscia, we got an estimated date for the furnace
    installation, November 25.  Downeast had
an opening in their schedule, also for November 25.  Although the chimney company was willing to
work at the same time as the plumber, Roscia strongly preferred to work
separately to avoid congestion in the cellar from too many people working at
once, so Roscia said they would install the next day, November 26.
The chimney liner was installed on Monday, November 25, as
promised.  The crew arrived a couple of
hours early, but we were able to accommodate them with a short delay.  It was a very cold and windy day, so I would
not have wanted to be up on a roof doing such a job, but the Downeast men
seemed to be undeterred.  The work was
finished in less than two hours.  The plumber
said the next day that the liner was nicely prepared for the furnace
    installation.
The Downeast men were polite, kept me informed of their
schedule, and completed their work on time and satisfactorily.

  • The company was great. They called to tell me that my fireplace is directly vented outside and we did not need a chimney sweep. Also, the chimney cap that was part of this deal was for a standard flu and we would need a custom cap. They wanted to tell me that I should get a refund, because it would be a waste of money for them to sweep a chimney that's not active. I greatly appreciate their honestly and that customer service goes a long way. They also offered to help with the refund if there were any issues.

  • Originally, the estimate was written for work to be done in 2012 but we were not able to follow through at that time.  When I called in April of 2013, the same estimate applied as well as senior discount and the angie's list discount. The contact person, Jodie, was efficient and pleasant and kept us informed through email.  She knows the process of securing permits in our town.  She was able to schedule our rebuild within a few days and  the work was done in 2 days last week. Construction and  clean up were excellent and the wokers were professional and efficient.

  • - The guys came out first to do a chimney sweep and measure for a cap. The guys indicated that the sweep was not necessary because the chimney was in good shape and did not need it. So the guys were honest about it and saved me some money there.
    - They also measured the chimney to install a cap. I was told that I would get an estimate via email, which I did not get until I called and requested it. Once I got it, they processed the order of the cap and said it would be installed within a week. Two-three weeks went by and I didn't hear from them, so I emailed to ask for a status update and was told that the cap was scheduled to be installed over the weekend. Due to bad weather they did not come out; however they did not call me to notify me they were not coming. I emailed them again on Monday for a second update and they said it would be installed that same day, and it was. Overall, they were responsive to my calls and emails and installed the cap, though I had to be proactive about requesting updates when they were delayed.
