Drywall Repair reviews in Danvers

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I would not recommend this guy to even my worst enemy. He questioned every design aspect my husband and I chose and even went as far as making us lay out our tile because he didn't think our patterned tile would look good if there wasn't a border around it. He argued with me about putting white grout on the floor. And he got extremely defensive when my husband was asking why it we went so far over the timeframe it was supposed to be finished. Mind you, we are still waiting on our shower door. He demanded in a text message to me (see picture) we pay him the remainder of the payment or else he wouldn't fulfill his contractual obligations. He also told my husband he is going to take us to court and threatened to put a lien on our house when my husband said we would pay him the remainder once our bathroom is completed to the contract terms. The things that still needed to be completed per the contract when he threatened were the following: -Counter top installed and sink plumbed - Radiator hooked up -Mirror, towel bars and toilet paper holdler - Shower door; although he argues that the shower door is NOT part of the original contract, which is ludicrous The things that were not done per the contract AFTER he received final payment were: - Mirror, towel bars & toilet paper holder - Shower door (again, me arguing that the shower door is part of customer supplied items mentioned in the contract) We never refused to pay this guy, we always paid at the deadlines given per the contract. He just can't handle his customers, who pay a lot of money, asking him questions on why it's taking him so long. His tile work is sub par at best (see pictures). When I pointed that out to him his response was "Well, I waterproofed the shower." Again, another defense when his work was questioned. To add insult to injury, the subcontractors that did our plumbing are apparently not allowed to work on our other bathroom or accept any other job in our house. Be warned, this guy is a hot head with a temperament of a 3 year old.

  • I don't think they knew what they were walking into. I had tried to remove the wallpaper in my master bedroom myself and left a ton of the glue behind. They sanded, patched and painted the entire room and even stayed over the time I paid for to get the job done. It looks fantastic. A+ job I plan on using them again for any future painting needs I have.

  • In one of the units the butcher block counter was in rough shape and we needed some new cabinets under the island. They were able to sand and refinish the butcher block counter as well as install new shelf/cabinet unit under the island greatly improving the look of the kitchen. In another unit the drop ceiling was badly damaged. They were able to take down the old drop ceiling down and put up a nice new drywall ceiling at a very reasonable price.

At another building one of the window frames/sills was badly damaged due to water. They came up with a creative solution to not only replace the rotten wood, but to cover the sill with sheet metal to prevent rotting in the future. The roof entrance at one of the buildings was in bad shape. We were very happy with the results of their suggestion to install siding to improve the look, and to prevent water leakage which had been a problem for a long time.
The biggest project that Silmac General Remodeling did for us was the large roof deck. This project was complicated in many ways, but thanks to the help and experience of Silmac, the project went very well. We had to deal with Boston's Historical Society, Inspectional Services Department, and the cramped working space of Beacon Hill. However, Silmac General Remodeling was very patient, and helped us every step of the way, even taking time to repeatedly go down to the building department so that the project would not fall behind schedule.
I appreciated that with each project, Silmac General Remodeling discussed all the details of the project up front so there were no surprises. They also discussed all the options we has with each project, the prices, and the pros and cons of each option. All the above described work was done for around $13,000.00 which is extremely reasonable for work in the city. I would recommend Silmac General Remodeling to anyone.

  • Overall Richard did a great job. From our very first meeting to his last day on the project he showed true professionalism. He completed the work within the budget and in a timely fashion. He also cleaned up each day leaving the work space easily accessible for the other sub contractors.

  • It was great overall. He does a great job and was very easy to work with. He works quickly and is definitely an expert. We have plastered walls and he knew how to work with that and it was not a problem.

  • The bathroom was last redone 25 years ago and was actually falling apart. The wall behind the tub was falling into it. The demo was done on time and cleaned up as they went along. When the wall was taken down he discovered that the work that was supposedly done to repair the outside walls hadn't been completed and we were basically looking at the siding from the wrong side. They made all necessary repairs and didn't charge us a fortune for it - which he really could have done because the wall was pretty much held together by the backer board that was now gone and we would have had to do the repair no matter what the cost. Right from the time of the estimate he let me know there was a family vacation planned which could interrupt the remodel so I could decide to begin later or go with someone else. I planned to do some of the work - painting and tiling - myself and that was never an issue. He even offered some advice and shortcuts to help.

  • Joe arrived at the correct time, made sure everything was covered before he started his work, and was done in a few hours. My new wall is smooth and edges are perfect. Looks great.
