Let me start by saying Don Derosia is really nice guy who immediately came off as a no bs straight forward guy.  As a new homeowner who has had a lot of work done this past summer, this means a lot to me as some contractors just come off as they are trying to rip you off..
I built a deck next to this maple tree which ended up being a menace.  It was dropping all kinds of stuff and staining my deck.  Not to mention the mess the birds were leaving as well.  I also had some trees from my neighbors yard growing over the new vinyl fence I just has installed which was dropping raspberries in my yard which the birds would eat then make more of a mess of my deck and my truck which was parked in the driveway.  I called Don and he came by the next day in the evening when I got home from work.  My neighbor and I talked about having his trees cut back and he agreed to pay the difference to have them taken down.
Don and his crew came by 2 weeks later, which is really good because it was the middle of the summer which is their busy season.  He was able to take down a panel from my vinyl fence without damaging it.  He cut down all the trees along the fence as well as most of the big maple I had in 1 day (this was during the 95 degree humid days we had this summer).  He came back the following day to remove the rest and grind the stump.  I asked him to cut the trunk into smaller pieces so I could chop it for fires and he obliged quite willingly.   He used a bobcat that had tracks on it so my yard wasn't destroyed afterwards.  The crew did a great clean up job.
Don is a really hard working family man who I can't say enough about.  I shopped around and looked at other tree companies who wanted $500 just to grind the stump after the tree removal.  I paid $500 for the removal of a 50' maple, stump grinding, and he back filled the hole with some good top soil.  As I mentioned he also removed my neighbors trees, my cost from that was $225.  I do not know what the rest of the cost my neighbor had but to be honest I don't care because the budget I had was for a thousand and he was still under.  My fence was put back like it had never been removed and my yard looks great.  I highly recommend this company.

    Flat Rate Lawn Mowing $35.
My lawn mower had broken down and has been in the shop for nearly a month now. As such my grass was simply out of control, nearly a foot tall in spots. I had called several different Lawncare/Landscapers and no one was available to help me. I called Dave and he offered to come out the same day to tackle it for me. It did end up storming that afternoon so he had to rescedule, but he was out the next morning and did an excellent job! As I had read on his other reviews he doesn't collect the clippings, but that wasn't an issue for me. I would definately use his services again.

    C L Frank & Company LLC

Contacted this company thru Angie's List on 6/9 then follow up on 6/11 because I entered an incorrect digit on my phone #.  On 6/12, I received a phone call from an Arborist who said he would call me on Friday, 6/13, to schedule a time.  On 6/17 I sent an inquiry thru Angie's List explaining the phone call and asked if the company was still interested in providing a quote.  As of 6/23, I haven't had any response at all.

The landscaping work was performed adequately and timely. However one of the bushes died and several did not come back very well over the winter. Tom did come by and say he would replace the dead bush, but that was two weeks ago and he has not returned to do so. I left him a voicemail but never heard back.

A.D. Gingras & Sons Lawn & Landscape Services
I hired them to mow every other week along with some minor yard work. They always showed up on time, did the work and sent out a bill after. All of that went very well. They had a ride lawn mower and had to take out my fence to get the mower in the back. Whoever did it stopped putting the fence back correctly and I had to spend a decent amount of time to fix it. Also I had another issue which I don't care to discuss but when I called it was we didn't do that. They are the only ones that I had back there and it was what they were working on. This was in 2012, I can't get the date of last service to change.

We had a difficult time finding someone who would repair our 50+ year old block bulkhead. The top cement was cracked and  crumbling.  One of the companies we called, referred us to PG Landscaping in Spencer, Mass.
The owner Pat Gallant contacted us and set up an appointment to see the bulkhead.  He arrived as scheduled, examined, measured and spent time explaining the different options that were available as he went along. He patiently answered all our questions and concerns and gave us the written estimate.
We contacted Pat the following week and set up an approximate time for work to start.  Pat called when they were ready to begin.  My husband (he's retired) was with the crew and was impressed with their knowledge and professionalism.  There were different workers, experienced with the various aspects of the project. It took several days to do all the work. Every day, before the workers left, the area was clean and secure. We did have to wait for the new doors to be delivered, because we need oversized doors.  Pat kept us posted as to the status of the order and called when they came in so they could finish the job.
We now have a bulkhead that water won't come in through cracks or over the top edge.  The new Bilco doors and new masonry work are beautiful.  The new drain at the bottom of the stairs will make it easier if we have any type of water in basement again.
We are very happy with and HIGHLY recommend P G Landscaping for a job well done.

He just started his business. He does a really good job. We have a rental house even though we rent where we are. He has been fabulous, but he is not cheap. He has done an incredible job with the lawn. He does landscaping, but he hasn't done it for us. He tore out some shrubs for us. He is very good. For us it was 10,000 square feet.

    Tree Corp
Initially we had Tree Corp (as well as 2 other companies, I think Treeland Associates and C. L. Frank) give us an estimate for removing 1 Oak with stump grinding and trimming 3 others (this was over 7 months ago, so excuse my poor memory). From what I recall, Treeland Associates seemed the least professional and experienced, Tree Corp seemed very professional and they mentioned having newer equipment which minimized yard damage, and C. L. Frank was what I would call a and quot;tree careand quot; company, where they REALLY knew what they were doing, and helped us refine what work we should have done, but they were also by far the most expensive. I should note, all three companies were fairly responsive in coming out for a quote within a couple days, possibly since it was the middle of winter.
We delayed the work as we were figuring out other details as well (we wanted to have a fence put in, and all the trees ran close to the fence). After deciding on Tree Corp for their mid-level prices and fair professionalism, we had them come out to give a new quote, since after fencers looked at our yard we found another tree needed removal. The new quote was for 2 tree removals with stump grinding, and only one tree trimming. Cost ended up being about 875/tree removal (including stump grinding) plus 475 for the trimming. There was also a $30 coupon included when they sent us the new quote.
They had me do a bit of prep work - opening up a gate for them to get into my yard and removing some clothesline posts that were near the trees. On work day, they showed up around 9:45 am. They helped move any other small things in the yard that were in the way, they marked and covered sprinkler heads, and they took down fence panels that were in the way (we were getting rid of it soon anyway). They laid out some plywood to protect the lower part of our lawn, did a quick tree that was slightly in the way (to get rid of branches in the way) and brought their compact cherry-picker lift into the yard. It was about 6 feet wide and maybe 8 feet tall, and very maneuverable!
They made fairly quick work of the trees, finishing in about 4.5 hours, including cleanup. They left no branches in my yard and even took away a huge pile of shrub trimmings I had made the previous week. They also cut a stump section at my request for me to keep as a seat in the yard, and let me keep a bin-full of the chipped wood for use with my smoker. However, I wouldn't recommend that last bit, since the chippings are mixed with the leaves as well, and sorting the wood from the green is a pain in the bum.
One afterthought, their equipment did leave a fair amount of damage to my lawn (from driving back and forth on it to move the cut wood down to the chipper), but I think this would be unavoidable with any company unless you want to get extra plywood sheets to protect the anywhere they might be driving.
Their subcontracted stump grinder arrived 2 days later and cleared out the stumps very cleanly, so you couldn't tell that there had been any trees there to begin with.

They do a great job..they come in with a crew and mow the yard as well as trim the edges of the grass. The only thing I don't like is that they don't move anything to mow underneath. I move all the loose toys and things but I have a childrens slide climber thing and a table with chairs and they don't move it to mow underneath. So I have taller grass there.
I moved them around this time so they will mow the area missed last time.
I'm not really upset just surprised. I would recommend them to my friends and family.
