  • If you want/need professional and top notch chimney service...these should be your guys without a doubt. Not only were they punctual and courteous but they did an amazing job updating the inside and outside of my chimney. Those of you from Boston know that these houses have been around the block and then some. After coming by to give us an estimate on a chimney cap, they noticed that the top three rows of our chimney was coming apart. With winter coming around the corner, I didn't want to waste any time getting the job done. These guys knew things were getting pretty busy as well and were able to fit us in that day. In a matter of two hours they completely re-did the masonry on our chimney, inserted a stainless steel liner, and installed an new flue and cap.

Their attention to detail while minimizing the impact to a lazy Tuesday afternoon was much appreciated by me and my wife. I recommend this business to anyone needing that special attention to their chimney and home.

  • Robert and his crew were always punctual and responsive for the most part.  He didn't provide the cheapest estimate (second least expensive of six I think), but he did, however provide the most professional service and a presentation I trusted.  He happily wrote a number of estimates so we could see all of our options.  He started the work a little later than we originally scheduled, but it was understandable due to the winter we had last year.  He went with the flow when I asked him after he'd started the work to put in a vent pipe for a bathroom vent we eventually want to install.

  • My first impression of company was good but things went down hill. Fast. At first I had them replace gutters, they were timely, left notes with progress and even sent a thank you card at the conclusion. I then had them replace my roof and address leaking skylights as well a repoint a chimney. Roof replacement was performed but if you look at the roof it looks horrible, irregular, sloped roof. Some is due to age of roof but I have had many contractors be very unimpressed with the roof. Flashing around dormer not done correctly causing leaking, flashing and water barrier around skylights also not done correctly. I asked if the skylights should be replaced at the same time and they said no, that they were fine. However, they continued to leak, causing repetitive water damage. I would call, email repetitively to try and get it addressed, often times not hearing back for weeks. They would then claim that they came but just never let me know and never gave an update as to what the problem was. They also punch a large hole in my drywall during the project and never returned to fix it. I had to get a different contractor to do it. Chimney re-pointing was fine.
I finally was able to complain the the father and original owner of the business, he was nice and apologetic, but ultimately the problem was never fixed and they continued to not respond to my issues. While I was on the phone with him his son was swearing at me and telling his father to hang up on me. I think that the father is essentially retired and now the quality of work has dropped significantly.  Would never trust future work to this company.

  • This review is a bit skewed because the deal I bought was l was for tune up, cleaning and inspection. However, in preparing for the visit, I realized that the once-fine insert was being finicky and not lighting properly. I could get the pilot going, but not the entire fireplace. I was hopeful to get some answers from the tech when he came. Again, I realize this might not be what the deal was aimed to address.
When the technician came he was punctual and super friendly, but did not seem entirely competent in gas insert fireplaces. He, too, could get the pilot but not much else going. He did minimal cleaning, and tested some wires, and was done fairly quickly (within 30 minutes or so). I realize that because the fireplace was half functional, his scope of work is limited, but did feel like he didn't do much in the way of cleaning or inspecting (and understand that a "tune up" wasn't possible). In any case, I asked what we needed to do to get the insert working again. His guess was rewiring some electrical, at an estimate of somewhere in the $600-800 range, with a clear caveat that that may not actually be the fix. Again, the guy was super nice, but it did feel a lot like a guess and wasn't especially confidence inducing.
Ultimately we did have it fixed by another company, and it was $350 and required a new pilot to get up and running again--meaning if I'd gone with Titan's guy, I would have paid a lot of money to ultimately not fix the machine.

  • My fireplace was extremely dirty and wasn't lighting properly.   They did a wonderful job with the inspection/cleaning.   Extremely professional.   Described how everything worked, and showed me how to remove the glass if I need to clean it in the future.

  • After initial visit to the store, I scheduled an appointment to come to my home for measurement and consultation for fireplace inserts. The day before the person was to I arrive I tried calling to confirm the appointment with the sales department but was told to call the cell phone of the person who was coming over. However, I couldn't reach him nor could I leave a message because his voicemail was inexplicably not set up. He did finally return my call the day of the appointment with an annoyed response that he was at a physical therapy session. He did show up on time, took the measurements and helped me select models. As we were looking through the catalog he told me that he forgot to measure something, but was too fatigued to got back upstairs, so I had to go measure it for him. I then didn't hear from him for three weeks. After two days of trying to reach him, I finally go a hold of him only to be told that he no idea who I was and that he uses address information look up his hand written notes. He told me that he would call me the next day, after a week of waiting, I called back and was told to call back that afternoon. Tried again, but he was on his way home and told me to call back the next day. Did this and was told he would have Roy email me the price quote. After a week of waiting I called again, but since I couldn't leave a voicemail message, I decided to text him. This got an angry response from him that he was unable or could not read texts on his phone and that I was to speak to him directly. When I asked about the email quote, he said would find out why it didn't get sent. When I received it, I emailed Roy back with a question, but never received a response. After six weeks of trying to deal with Black Magic, I feel they clearly have a systemic customer service problem. They also seem to have low tech record keeping, poor communication skills (no follow up w/customers or amongst themselves) and low morale. My advice would be to go elsewhere.

  • Complete Chimney Service was great - they reconfirmed their appointment, the team was very professional and helpful in educating me on my new chimney (I just bought my place), quick, tidy and all around great!!! I would highly recommend this company for any of your fireplace needs.

  • Rich and his team were great to work with and the work was done above and beyond my satisfaction
The first time Rich visited was to provide an estimate. Rich's knowledge and candor made it easy to trust him during this process.
The second time Rich and his team visited my house was to do a test for the flue liner. My wife and I were at work all day, and when we returned, it was as if nobody had been inside, even though the team had to constantly pass through 3 levels of thehouse to gain access to the furnaces and chimney. Previous experiences with other contractors have been less than favorable, as they have left marks and dirt inside the house. No evidence whatsoever of that with Rich and his team.
The last time Rich and his team visited my house was to do the actual work. Once again, they left the inside of my house impeccable and also left the work areas incredibly clean.
All in all, an extremely positive experience. I would highly recommend Rich and his team from Boston's Best Chimney to any of my friends and family.

  • Jim was great. Very punctual, professional and dependable. The job had many changes and phases and Jim was great with all the revisions. The house in 140 years old and Jim was very adept at understanding what the owner was trying to achieve.  His workmanship is great and is a very hard worker.

  • The inspector showed up on time with an assistant to help perform the work.  They quickly and efficiently cleaned both chimneys, and cleaned up their workspace.  They also inspected both chimneys and provided some oversight of potential repairs and improvements.
There was no pressure to the inspection and it was no problem!  We'd definitely use these guys again!
