Tile Installation reviews in Charlestown

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We have done many projects over the years with different contractors, having owned 8 other homes. Jeff has been the easiest, most reliable and responsive contractor we have ever worked with. No surprises. Good quality and his people were always pleasant to work with. He also helped us resolve issues by putting us in touch with other resources. I highly recommend Jeff.

  • Jamal came and looked at the job. I explained to him there were areas the tub needed re-grouting and re-caulking. He was late but he sent me a quote on time. The quote seemed reasonable so I scheduled the work. He grouted my tub with grout I had even though he knew how long I had the grout (more than 5 years). A few things: He grouted where he should have caulked. The grout cracked because he should have used caulk where the tub met the tile. That's why I had to have him come back 2 more times to fix the cracking. I was told this by my plumber, the contractor who removed his work, and Home Depot. He was late each time. After asking him to return for a 3rd time to fix the cracking, he told me the materials were old and he probably shouldn't have used them. But that was my fault since I provided them and if I wanted it fixed, I needed to pay an additional $100. I had already paid $300. I scheduled him to come back and the new grout cracked the next day. He told me all grout cracks and that was normal. Again, he grouted where he should have caulked which was the reason the grout cracked. Lesson learned - I had to pay a plumber to fix the leaks caused by the cracked grout. A professional should have known to caulk there. I had to pay someone else to remove his grouting job and re-caulk my tub. A project that should have cost less than $300 and take less than 2 days, was now over $800 and took over 6 weeks to fix. He did tell me he would guarantee the work of the new grout. After the bathtub leaked, I didn't feel comfortable in his work and opted not to have him return. STAY AWARE and make sure you do your research so that you know what you are talking about and what needs to be fixed. I regret my choice with JCR Tiling, Inc.

  • The back splash turned out great. He was meticulous and did a perfect job. I would 100% recommend him and I will use him again for future projects. He was also professional and always showed up on time. I think he gave me a fair price.

  • Excellent. Joe and his crew were exceptional. They were very detail oriented and did absolutely beautiful work. Joe keeps a very clean and organized job site which we appreciated. I met most of the sub contractors that Joe works with and they were all equally excellent. We felt very comfortable with Joe and his crew in our house and could not have been happier with the results. Joe is a perfectionist and it shows in the finished product. While a little slow to return phone calls prior to starting the project, Joe was extremely responsive while working on our job and was quick to answer all of my millions of questions with obvious knowledge, humor and patience. I cannot recommend Kindregan Carpenty highly enough.

  • I was very happy with the service received from Handyman Matters. The door ended up being a larger problem than expected, but Allen was able to finish it within a couple hours with the help of another. He was very professional, communicated well about what was going to be done and the cost of everything. Allen also realized I was in a bit of a time crunch to leave so he hustled around the house to finish things as quickly as possible. I also had a tile on my front porch that needed to be glued down but I didn't put it in the work order. A day later I realized he fixed it for me without mentioning it! I would definitely work with this company again.

  • S & W did a terrific job! Wes is a consummate professional who truly knows his business. He was organized, focused, and kept to the schedule. He laid out in advance a game plan and provided a timetable to accomplish it. He made excellent suggestions at key points in the process. His staff were skilled professionals - courteous, efficient, prompt, and maintained a very clean work environment.

  • Update 11/3 - Mike and his crew followed up on his promise to return and fix the mistakes from last year. Although it took a lot longer than I hoped for, Mike did the stand-up thing and committed to making everything right. The shower floor now look much nicer and I'm happy with the way everything looks. A lot of contractors won't stand behind their work, but I have to hand it to Mike for acknowledging that there were problems and making the effort to get the job done. Thanks again.

  • This guy is the real deal! Marcello completed my extensive renovations 3.5 years ago. He was awesome at the time but his professionalism and sense of integrity are unmatched in this industry. A few months after the renovations, we noticed that half our master bathroom floor wasn't heated. Marcello was our general contractor but we subcontracted with an electrician to do the floor heat. Due to the warranty, we had to go with a Nuheat certified electrician and his fee was over $1,700 to fix the floor heat which cost just $1,200 to install. Because it was difficult to determine the cause of the failure (warranty or installation), Marcello covered the entire cost! He even had to order an additional box of tiles to repair our bathroom floor, which was very expensive since our tiles came from Spain. Fast forward 3.5 years later (a few weeks ago), the same thing happened! We didn't think Marcello would come but he immediately returned my phone call and showed up when the certified electrician came. This time the electrician discovered the underlying problem: 110V floor heat mats were wired to 220V!! Clearly, it was not Marcello's fault but he was extremely gracious about the situation. Since he ordered an entire box of tiles last time, we had more than enough replacement tiles this time to complete the repair. The electrical repair was completed on a Friday but Marcello was able to have his tiling guy come in on Monday to put back the tiles! In fact he personally came to inspect the tiling job after it was done to make sure I was happy, which I was.

I am so glad we went with Marcello for all the work in my house. He's definitely not someone who would overcharge you or avoid you when issues come up. He's honest and definitely takes his reputation seriously. I could not recommend him enough.

  • The kitchen came out wonderful! It looks and feels like a whole new space. The bathroom has come into this century as well as added value to my home. I am very pleased with his work, communication, estimate and time to complete the projects and have already referred him to two others.

  • Marcello's Renovations was one of the best experiences I have ever had with any professional organization! Not only limited to construction projects.  I run a Financial Services Organization currently, but grew up working in construction.  I place a tremendous value on punctuality, professionalism, responsiveness, and of course quality.
Marcello was referred to me by the home inspector for my recently purchased single family home in Charlestown, MA.  It was a Million dollar property, and I wanted quality work, without a hugely inflated cost.  I received multiple quotes.  I felt that because of the property, I was being overcharged based on the assumption that I wouldn't be sensitive to cost.
Marcello was early to our appointment.  Which was on Saturday.  He took his shoes off upon entering.  He asked thoughtful questions about what we were looking for.  He took his notes on an iPad which impressed me.  He was dressed in clothes that had been custom made with his company name.  His company truck was clean, with the company name and contact info painted professionally on the side.
Unlike other quotes, he did not ballpark the price.  He did promise to be in touch with a quote by that evening.  He delivered on that promise.  The quote was extremely reasonable.  I accepted, and he was at our home the following day, on SUNDAY, with his project manager, and his tile installer.  Both were equally courteous.
Our project was completed on time and on budget.  Which was absolutely incredible, considering the blizzard conditions that have made for the snowiest and coldest February in Boston History!  Our expectations were exceeded!
He and his crew took the time to get up on our roof and shovel snow that had accumulated.  They fixed curtain rods that were loose.  They installed thermostats and light fixtures.  They picked up materials that we needed from vendors.
I never write reviews.  Good or Bad.  I don't have the time for it.
However, I was so blown away by this experience, that it warranted the feedback.
I am going to have my roof done over, a new roof deck built, and the exterior of my home painted.  All once the snow melts.
I would not consider even entertaining the idea of a company other than Marcello's Renovations and Construction to do the work.  I will never call another contractor.
