Lamp Repair reviews in Cambridge

  • The base of an antique metal table lamp was broken in many pieces after having knocked over (on several occasions).  That lamp was important to me because it was just the right thing for the space in which it was (size, style, fit with the lampshade etc..).   I brough it to Masse's to see if by any chance they could glue it back together. It looked like a hopeless task, as the pieces (at least 12) were of weird shapes, and it was not obvious that the base could be rebuilt so as to support the rest of the lamp.  Lee spent a lot of time with my trying to figure out what was possible, then decided to give it a try.  If that were not to work, she offered to look for another base they might have at home, and she also thought of other fall-back solutions.  But she decided to try and fix it first.  She had to glue the pieces two at a time with a special glue, wait 24 hours for that to set, then continue.  She rebuilt the whole thing in a few days, and it has not looked better in years!   Not only is iit perfectly put back together, but she used some metallic paint to hide the connections and imperfections.  The whole thing (glue and labor) cost me only $30.  I couldn't believe it - that was a lot of skillful work.
I had brought it to Masse's in the first place because I knew what a wonderful, unique place it is.  The people are incredibly helpful, professional, knowledgeable, and nice, and they have absolutely anything one might need to fix anything.  What a privilege to have such a gem in the neighborhood.  And for those who live farther away, it's really worth the trip - there are no longer places like this around.

  • They are great. Readily accessible. Quick service. They are clean when they are working in your unit. Very aware of their surroundings and are sure not to disturb anything in the process of doing what they need to do. They have done interior rewiring for me as well.

  • Both Charlotte and Harry Eordekian went out of their way to be helpful. Harry rewired the lamps and helped me carry the large lamps to my car. Charlotte helped me in making choices about which lamp shades to buy and what type of rewiring to do. They are a delight to work with. As far as whether the prices were fair I don't know. I haven't bought new shades or repaired any lamps in many many years. The shades cost $79.99. a piece (white silk). The rewiring was $50 for each lamp.

  • I had already tried to figure out how to rewire these lamps and discovered that typical American light sockets wouldn't fit into the shades. I got stumped, took them to a lamp repair place, and they got stumped, and referred me to Wanda. Wanda figured out how to use a candleabra socket to fit within the existing socket frame, so that we could keep the lamp shades in place exactly the way they were meant to be. Then we picked out the rest of the parts. I picked up the lamps two days later, and couldn't be happier with the results.

  • They were prompt, and the price was what they said it would be. The lamps are working. They are nice to do business with. They gave me a little break on the price. I would take my lamps there again and I would recommend them.

  • He did the work we agreed on in the time he had given. The new sockets are first class and the work is well done. I'll be using them again.
