Firewood Company reviews in Cambridge

I am shocked to have just received a phone call from this company
first accusing my husband and I of poor character and subsequently admitting that they were
calling to cancel the wood delivery scheduled for two days from now.
We received wood from this company on October 6, 2013 and were told by the
driver (company owner, Bruce) that the amount was less than ordered due to short supply. We
were told how to measure the wood after stacking and prorate the amount
because he needed to bring extra wood to the next customer. We measured
the wood, called the company and paid the requested amount. We asked to
place another order and schedule another delivery as we were short the
wood we would need for the winter.  The company scheduled and
subsequently cancelled *4* further scheduled deliveries over the next 3 months with variable
explanations (twice weather, once they ran out of wood, once they forgot
to put us on the schedule). Each time, we organized our weekend plans
to accommodate the scheduled wood delivery. Today (1/31/14) we were called and the
delivery scheduled for 2/2/2014 was cancelled. The person calling
initially claiming that we intentionally underpaid in October 2013.
Although we did not receive the amount ordered and accommodated the
company to change our order and measure the wood ourselves and reorder a
new half cord, they claim that we did not speak with them about this.
We had no idea there were any issues other than disorganization on the
part of the company. Until their sudden cancellation today, we received
no indication or communication that this was not the correct or desired
Needless to say, we are very upset with this
company. Like  everyone else, we have busy lives and have rescheduled
now 5 weekends to accommodate their wood delivery. These people are
devious and I suspect any positive reviews are written by them

I sent an email in late August to arrange for an October delivery. It seems early, but it allowed us to schedule our delivery at a time when it wasn't raining and also when we could reserve an on-street parking spot right outside our small yard for our Cambridge condo. Bob wrote back within a few hours and provided information about kiln-dried firewood, and an estimate for 1/2 cord, delivery and stacking. Since we ordered early I just asked him to let us know when another delivery was scheduled in our area. In the end, I'm not sure if there was another delivery in our area, but he delivered on the date we specified in mid-October, and arrived on time. The night before he was to deliver we realized our wood rack would only hold about 1/3 cord, so we emailed him about where to get some brackets and 2x4s. He informed us he would pick them up for us at the store, which he did, and only charged us for the cost.
Here we are in mid-december. The logs are burning nicely. Also, a small detail I appreciate: They put the smaller kindling-type pieces in our 1/3 wood rack separate from the bigger logs. It is just a small but helpful arrangement to get our fires going.
This is my first Angie's List review and I am glad to be writing it for a very positive experience.

I sent an email through Angie's List requesting a quote for 1/2 cord of wood.  The owner emailed me with a quote and we made arrangements to deliver it the next week.  The day of the delivery, the owner called me in the morning to make sure we were still on and then called when he was about 10 minutes away.  He got caught in a bit of traffic, but emailed me to let me know his revised arrival time.

Once we met at the house, the owner and an employee delivered the wood, carried it through the house to the backyard and neatly stacked it.  The total time required was about 30 minutes and the estimate was accurate.  The wood is cut in reasonable size pieces, is kiln dried and burns clean.  I will definitely use them again next year.

The truck arrived on time. Workers stacked the wood properly in the designated area. The wood looks good. Later, when I measured the pile and found that it was smaller than the promised 64 cubic feet, the company's owner promptly (and without question) voided and returned my check, even before I mailed him a corrected, downsized amount.

Wood is beautifully cut and they actually stack it neatly in my shed. Wood is dry enough to use. Wood does not smoke much.

I called Bruce. He remembered me as a repeat customer.  My order was delivered within a week and there was no evidence of delivery other than the wood being neatly stacked.

easy to arrange for delivery over the phone; everything went according to plan, and the wood was neatly left in the right spot. the quality of the wood looks good.
