Acupuncture Treatment reviews in Cambridge

Generally, I'm all for western medicine, so it's fair to say that I was more than a bit hesitant to try acupuncture. But when my headache wouldn't go away after two weeks and various attempts with acetaminophen, aspirin, and ibuprofen, I was ready to give it a shot! The most appealing aspect of Acupuncture Together is its affordable pricing and sliding scale model. This made the two-part treatment affordable for me.
People considering Acupuncture Together should be aware that it's "community acupuncture," meaning that, after your initial consult in a private room, the treatment itself is given in a group room. It didn't bother me, since everyone else in the room is generally relaxing with their needles in place and their eyes closed, but I was glad that I knew what to expect ahead of time. You don't have to undress or anything -- you just sit in a reclining chair and roll up your sleeves and pant legs. The reception area and treatment room were nothing fancy, but both were very clean.
When all was said and done, my headache went away! There's no way to be sure whether it was because of the acupuncture or just the passing of time, but based on my experience at Acupuncture Together, I would recommend the practice, and I would go there again if the need arose.

I set up an appointment on line rather easily.  I went in on a Tuesday morning with severe back pain.  I was greeted by Justine.  She was quite busy but she brought me in a room and ask me questions about the painful areas, history, and requested focal points.  She pointed me in the direction of a room with several cots.   I chose a seat to relax. She came immediately, reclined the cot and placed many pins, which was painless, in my feet, legs, hands, wrists, and neck.  She put a heater above my feet and a buzzer in my hand.  She told me when I am ready for her to remove the pins just press the buzzer.  About 5mins after I was set up, I felt very tired.  They allow you to sleep in there.  I don't know for how long they will allow you to sleep but I stayed for about 1 hour. I felt 10 times better when I left there.  The pain wasn't completely gone but it was minor compared to what I was experiencing before. I went for a second session, still with the minor pain and after that appointment the pain was gone completely.   It truly works.  I have been telling everyone I know about this place.  I highly recommend Acupuncture Together!!

He spent a considerable amount of time with me to assess my energy and then set to work on my problem areas. I did not feel rushed and felt AMAZING afterwards and the price was VERY reasonable. I highly recommend John to anyone open to trying acupuncture. Bring quarters - street parking only!

His treatment has been effective and he does Tuina, which is a spinal massage.  He prescribes herbs and belongs to a Tigong group.  He is very knowledgeable and professional.  He has a good sense of humor and is very ethical.  The office is very pleasant though it?s an old building.  I like his services and will use the same in future.

I've been to a few different acpuncturists (one in NYC and two here, including Acupuncture Together) since I first experienced extreme shoulder pain about 6 years ago and I find that it is an effective way of treating my pain without medication. I was able to schedule a same-day appointment with Justine at Acupuncture Together, which was key since I was in a lot of pain and wanted to be treated as soon as possible. This time around I was experiencing neck pain and jaw pain from TMJ (I'm a habitual tooth grinder when I sleep). When I arrived, I met with Justine and discussed my history with back/neck/shoulder pain and TMJ as well as my history with acupuncture. From there, we went into the room. This was the first time I've ever expereienced "community acupuncture" and I didn't find it uncomfortable. The room was quiet and people were very respectful of each other. The background music was calming and instead of laying down on a table, I reclined in a chair, which I found just as comfortable. It also required no clothing removal, as the type of acupuncture that Justine practices focuses on placing needles in your arms below your elbows, legs below your knees, and neck/face/head. However, it probably helps to wear pants that you can roll up easily and a short sleeved shirt (or one where the sleeves can be easily rolled up). Justine and her staff are all very friendly and really listen to (and effectively treat) your aliment. You can stay in the room as long as you would like, which is nice because in some cases you can feel the needles doing their work and you want to stay a bit longer and get the maximum benefit of the session. I will admit I was a bit more fidgety in the chair at first (especially towards the end of my treatment time), but have gotten so used to it that I completely zonked out at my last visit. If you do have a time limit you would like to stick to, you can ask them to check in on you at that time or you can track the time yourself and ring a buzzer they provide you when you're ready to end your treatment. Pricing is EXTREMELY reasonable (it is probably the least expensive treament I've received) and is done on a sliding scale (no questions asked) in an effort to accomodate various people's ability to pay for their sessions. I was very happy with the results of my treatment as the pain was substantially reduced during my treatment and even more so in the following days. It has also done wonders for the TMJ, as my jaw no longer feels constantly clenched and I'm sleeping much sounder as a result. I have gone for several follow up appointments (about once a week) as I needed more treatments to really get the TMJ to subside and I've had a few flare ups due to stress at work, but right now (about a month later), I am feeling much better and plan to go back every couple of weeks for follow up to hopefully prevent it from coming back.

I was greeted by Justine in a pleasant waiting area and then taken in to choose a chair of my choice. Since this was a free trial visit there was no intake interview. I named two conditions and needles were applied which i did not feel. I was very relaxed. I had a bell to summon Justine if I needed anything or was ready to leave. Soft music was playing. I returned for a second visit and filled out a medical form and was interviewed by Justine. The rest was pretty much the same. One man was asleep and snoring. Justine respects the time of rest and does not wake snorers but will provide ear plugs or you can bring your own player. I like the availability of reasonability of price and what I have experienced so far. I will be going back.

I started seeing Valerie at the suggestion of a friend who saw her and felt much better. I have had many years of chronic health problems that medical doctors were not able to address very well. I noticed that after I saw Valerie the few few times my energy was much better and I felt better overall. Over time, it wasn't just for the day or two after I saw her that I felt better but I began to feel better all of the time. She is also a professor of acupuncture and I think is particularly good. I have been able to substantially decrease my medication levels since I have been seeing her for over two years. My mom, dad and best friend who visit sometimes wanted to try it just to see what it was like. All three found it so helpful, for various reasons, that they go back whenever they visit. Valerie is very kind, professional, and competent. I especially suggest her as something to try if you have had ongoing health struggles and traditional medicine has not been successful. That said, it is my understanding that she is competent with a range of issues and sometimes only a few visits are necessary to address the problem. My husband goes whenever he feels like he is getting a cold, or if he gets the flu, which happens to him once a year like clockwork. He finds it very helpful in speeding the healing process. Also, her prices are super-cheap.

Lipai is a healer. There's really no better way to explain it. Her clinic is a quirky little place, with a quirky little dog who makes regular welcome appearances. She explains the procedures without being preachy. She treats what you ask her to treat, and lets you know if she there's something else going on--"chi-wise." I always feel informed and well looked after. After about six months of weekly visits, she successfully treated my crippling nerve pain. I still have some pain and discomfort--and some days are worse than others--but it's like she gave me life back. These days I go about once a month for "maintenance" work. Yeah, she's a little crazy. But it's definitely crazy-good. Highly recommended.

I pinched a nerve in my shoulder lifting heavy things. Waited about 2 months taking medications, hot baths, etc., nothing worked and the problem became quite debilitating. The first time I visited Barbara, she located the problem and during the course of the session, the pain spread from a very focused intense spot to a less intense pain all over my back. I had sessions twice a week for a few weeks until the problem was resolved.
